Is having a bachelors an industry standard in the UK or are associates degrees as well? Ive been curious about international EMS education systems.

Not sure. In Australia it is for Paramedics. You can be a medic in the private sector with a relevant Diploma or even a Cert 3. Paramedics study a Bachelor's Degree here because unlike some other first world countries, Paramedics are much more about Paramedicine rather than just transporting quickly to a hospital. We have high standards in Australia, but allow access. Like Nursing for example. A Registered Nurse (RN) completes a Bachelor's Degree and can administer very high level care, such as administering drugs and evaluating their outcome, being the patient's advocate, working alongside the Doctor(s), undertake comprehensive patient assessments, supervise EN's, and operating in critical and complex environments. With less qualification, only a 2 Year Diploma, an Enrolled Nurse can perform basic functions such as administering medications, taking measurements and observations, work under the supervision of an RN, assisting in hygiene, and reporting changes in patient condition.
