Made it back home from Maui and was welcomed to some very mild weather. There's a ton of work to catch up on and bills to pay. So we are taking advantage of the nice but muddy weather for working on drills, and hauling grain and fertilizer as well.

Congratulations on 200000 subs.. We make 2 in wide rings that fit over the tire when it is deflated. Put studs or screws through the band and reinflate the tire. Instant traction.

Hey Mike have you seen the New Holland Cr 11? Apparently it's a whole new combine with a different chopper system they say cannot be jammed!! I think that's a challenge you need to take on !!! And class 11 combine is badass!!

Hope Mike will put in an order for a dozen of them and also order a dozen 18 meter Honeybee heads for them . Even that 19 meter GTS Brazilian head already seen some in the great US of A would be the very ticket as well. They say that the GTS is a lighter head than the Deere or Case IH 50 footers because of lots of aluminum instead of steel.

Hi Mike, could be worth buying a portable power kit, they consist of hydraulic rams with various attachments all powered by a manual pump. Initially invented for car body workshops but now widely vary, you require one with press tool attachments, it will be far easier than hammering & bashing, plus it will be quicker & a whole lot more efficient. Bear it in mind for the next time you're out & about window shopping at the next tool market.

Just got back from Maui myself. Seems like we got there about the time you left. Sure did enjoy the Paia Fish Market. It sure gets muddy quick when the snow melts. We don’t have snow in California so it’s just muddy all winter.

When you're loading trucks by yourself, you dont have it running at full tilt or bad things will happen

Mike , I hope you don’t think I’m out of order , but , I still don’t understand why you don’t have a good workshop if only to get one seeder / combine or cultivator etc etc in at a time to service instead of trying to out in the mud or frost , wind and rain . Each machine would be done in half the time . Maybe I’m missing something here??? 🤔🤔🤔

They do have a fairly decent workshop already, it's just not big enough. Perhaps an extension on the side specifically for the large drills might be the way to go?

I’m definitely not Mike! But from what I observe,these guys have really expanded right around the time or immediately prior to Mike starting KZfaq. Including taking on a lot of new ground. Farming all that ground required a massive investment in massive equipment! And as you know,they’ve had basically no crop the past 3 years. So they’re struggling right now.

A concrete pad is expensive. It will be perfect for doing the drills on but what about a thick crusher run pad so it drains and is not muddy to work on this stuff?

Typically the guys including myself prefer grass, something soft to work on under the drill.. But during the winter the ground is froze so it doesn't really matter where you start the drill project. Except this year it seems, who knew it would get so warm in January? 🤷🏼‍♂️😆

Mike in lue of building a shop just put a raise gravel pad at least you would have a dry stop to work on.

Agreed! We normally work up at the main yard on gravel, but we thought it would be fine down here in the grass too but who knew it would get so warm in January! 😂🤷🏼‍♂️

You're getting torched about not building a shop, lol. That being said, just to get one of your drills in to a shop, it would have to be big, drills folded or unfolded plus probably a drive through shop too, doors on both sides, good luck.

I can’t believe you don’t have a shop to work on equipment out of the elements. You didn’t start farming yesterday and all the money you spend on equipment all the time, you should have a dry heated shop. Not big enough for all the equipment, big enough to work on one big drill or multiple tractors or combines. It’s all about priorities, nice new combines or a shop.

Yeah never ceases to amaze me of the ignorance of some people. Just a 3 sided building with a cement floor with a canvas on 4 th side. Then you can at least run some big heaters. I"m probably triggered though by this since I grew up on a farm that was run like this. Penny wise and dollar stupid.

I'm curious Mike, how many bushels can you haul with those b train trailers? They are only legal in on certain routes here in the states. Hence most semi's are a single trailer. With 5 axles most common, ant tri axle and quad axle with high sides being the exception. Also I have noticed that in a pit with a drag, find out which direction the drag runs. For instance if you are facing east and the drag spins towards the west, open your western most hopper trap first, then your eastern trap. If you open the east trap first, the drag pushes the grain to the west and it will slow the speed of the grain coming out of the west trap. Hope I didn't confuse you too much.

We can haul roughly 1300- 1500bu of wheat depending on the time of year and the route.

@@mikemitchell2554 ok thank you for letting me know. Depending on the truck and trailer, as in the 2023 international LT pulling a 42 foot Willson Ag hopper, we, I can haul 950 legal. In the fall and winter with the proper license and or permit we can haul 10% over 80000 so 88,000 pounds. Which is close to 1100 bushels, with 5 axles. With 6 or 7 axles we can get close to 1400 bushels, but with the added costs of the more axles, carrying the weight around empty, added fuel costs, plus the added wear and tear on the tractor unit, and brakes, most just haul the 80,000 and 950 bushels and just make the extra trip. $70,000 US for a new 42 foot Willson versus 80 to 90 grand for a tri axle or quad axle, is a savings as well. Yes it would pay over the long haul, but I don't know how long that haul would be. Thanks again.

As much money as u spend on equipment y wouldn’t u build a huge shop to work n and keep ur equipment in, if u can go to Hawaii then u can build a big shop with the acres u cover
