Today we are in the magical city of Chiang Mai in Northern Thailand and we are here for a few very important reasons.
First and foremost we are here to eat KHAO SOI and lots of it!
We are also upgrading Zelda my brand new Honda CT 125 motorbike with new parts shipped up from Bangkok.
We also hang out with my girlfriend and beautiful friends ‪@FloraandNote‬ and explore some of the highlights of Chiang Mai.

Just a heads up from a 35-year motorcycle rider. Your front brake does seventy (70) percent or more of the braking! With the ABS you got all that stopping power on the front brakes. Also, make sure you are not resting your right foot on the back brake pedal. Even a little pressure can engage the brake and this could cause overheating. Kaho Soi is my favorite dish too.

The value I get from watching your channel is priceless compared to watching stuff on Netflix. Love that you not only educate us on traveling Asia but you actually get us to go out and explore. First thing I’ll try when I get up to Chiang Mai is Kaho Soi! Safe travels and I am looking forward to your Laos videos as well.

Paddy, try to teach yourself to use the front brake. The front brake is equivalent to 75 % of your braking on your bike, so the back brake is only 25%. Learn to trust the ABS in all weather conditions.

Warmed my heart seeing beautiful Chiang Mai! Me and my husband spent most this video excitedly pointing at the screen shouting “omg look there’s ___!!”. Our favourite Khao Soi spot closed down during covid, so will have to try Mae Sai next year! Lovely video full of memories for us 😊

Must feel great to be back in your Thailand home base, Paddy! Then to have Miss P and your friends come over..perfect medicine to the feelings you were having in Southern Vietnam. Perhaps the best refresher to continue your trip to Laos. I was in Luang Prabang in 2012. Looking forward to seeing you there! 😎

Paddy I will update you on Brakes. If you have no ABS then 75% front and 25% back is the norm. In the wet it is 50% front and 50% back. Always try to progressively squeeze brake no sudden grab. Basic ABS is to prevent the wheels locking up if you mistakenly grab the brakes. Advanced ABS links the back and the front and depending on the system can go a long way to preventing a slip. If you are unsure keep to my first rule for dry and wet roads. The big thing is to think that you have two connections with the road slightly larger than two matchboxes. You aim is to reduce the stresses on these contact patches as much as you can with either turning, braking or acceleration. Hope that helps. One point always drop a gear or two on long downhills and let the engine brake assist the normal brakes. This is especially important of you are carrying luggage and the bike is heavy.

While I appreciate you wanting to customize your bike to your liking please reconsider the faux tank cover that provides you with zero benefit. Honda was thoughtful to provide a nice rack in the step through area for you to attach a useful softbag to carry items to make your travels nicer. Packable space on a small motorcycle is in short supply. I vote ditch the faux tank. 😁

I just left Chiang Mai a few days back! It was incredible and we may have crossed paths! This morning I helped pull a scooter up the side of a mountain on Samui near the Conrad. I remember your video exploring that side of the island and how you commented on how steep the roads were. Then I got to experience first hand! Thanks for the videos - they helped me decide on Samui and it was everything I hoped it would be!!

I like the new addition to the bike. Looks to be very functional. Thanks for the heads up regarding another Khao soi place to check out. We are planning to head up to Doi Suthep and maybe hang out in Doi Pui for day trip next week, so thanks for the little preview. We are really enjoying Chiang Mai. Looking forward to your visit to Chiang Dao as that is on our radar. If I may say, Thailand (or maybe Chiang Mai) really seems to be a happy place for you. If I'm full of crap don't hesitate to call me out, but it seems to have put a bit of pep back into your step. Enjoy your time off with Miss P.
