Back Running with Fuel Pump Upgrade… then Brakes Started FAILING! | EB Fairmont Build Pt 4

In this episode we need to get Monty running again. I show one way to replace or upgrade the fuel pump in a E-Series Falcon sedan (EA, EB, ED, EF or EL), which then turns up a slightly concerning issue - with a brake fluid leak at the master cylinder after a test drive! So that gets replaced while we’re at it, along with testing the brake booster.

If you put an EL inlet manifold on the old girl it will improve the response and low end torque, it is a simple upgrade modification

I’m interested to actually put that to the test one day. Will be a shame though cause I do much prefer the look of the earlier manifold it has now.

I have done the EL BBM upgrade it makes it easier to get the dizzy in & out I’ve found.. currently dealing with a gremlin in the master cylinder, excess air /vacuum leak causing old Oscar to stall randomly

My brakes were shit on my eb from sitting for years before I got it.i bought seal kits did them and while doing that I realized the sliders were siezed.cleaned up and regreased now thre mint wearing evenly pulling up nice and straight 👌 good brakes

I can remember changing the fuel pump on my mum's EBII and it was a pain in the ass. Even a direct replacement fuel pump needed some slight mods to install as it was not identical to OEM. I still have the car and love it. I drove it today and still goes hard for an old car. Select the T-bar switch from eco to power and she goes! Awesome work and nice ED!

Looking forward to this project. It's nice to see an affordable car being built too. Excellent work getting the brakes up to scratch. Seems to be one of the later jobs done on a lot of other channels.

Oh the brakes are still well under done on these, but they're functional at least now! 🤣 Not sure if it would have appeared in this video anyway but new calendar won't be up in videos until next or the one after that, some of this footage is a month or so old... but it is up! Thanks again

Great to see progress on the old girl, Browney! I had to change the pump in my wagon and that was a mission, as it’s mounted in the side and spills fuel everywhere (even when empty as possible).

@@BrowneysGarage our 1998 Hilux was much the same with the tub covering the tank. Had to drop the whole thing out (mounted longways) and I could barely get my hand in between the chassis rail to unplug the connector. Would rather do the EB again any day, even if it meant having buckets of fuel around making me dizzy 😂

Get ready to replace those brake hoses soon too! I had mine made by a local brake shop and they were heaps cheaper than OE

@@leroybrown6946 Nothing wrong with that, there's a hell of a lot more support for the Barra, especially with how old the SOHC engines are getting. Plenty of people using them for some very good reasons.

At 10:33, correct me if I am wrong, has the exhaust got an unplugged bung? Or is there something plugging it that can't be seen on camera?

Oxygen/Wideband sensor was getting in my way when painting near and under the booster. Was replaced before running 👍

Do E falcons have strange fuel tanks? Or is the strainer filter going to not pick fuel up because its 100mm off the bottom due to being 45deg

It does seem a bit of an odd way to mount the pump, believe the filter does reach the bottom of the tank though. The bottom corner of the pump I'm fairly sure ends up near the bottom of the tank and filter wraps just below that.
