When Marty tells Doc that Ronald Reagan is President in 1985, and Doc says "Ronald Reagan, the actor?!", in real life when he saw it, Reagan burst out laughing. Because in the 40s and 50s, Reagan really was a very famous actor before he entered politics and was elected Governor of California.

Far more time has passed since this movie was made 2022-1985= 37 years than the time Marty went back in time 1985-1955 = 30 years. Going back to the '80s is an epic time trip for sure.

The movie's packed full of tiny details like that. Someone's already mentioned Huey Lewis but while Marty is playing Johnny B. Goode, Marvin Berry calls his cousin Chuck. There's also the ledge on the clock tower; it's broken in 1985 but not in 1955 until Doc stands on it.

Doc and Marty both say jigawatts, instead of gigawatts. It's because while the producers were studying possible time travel, they came across a German scientist that pronounced it that way.

The whole trilogy is fantastic! Be sure to stop Part 2 at To Be Concluded... if you don't want spoilers for Part 3. Robert Zemeckis is a great director, and has many classics in his filmography. For more of his work, I would suggest Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, Death Becomes Her, and Romancing the Stone.

@@EmmaReactions To explain Patrick's warning about the end of part 2, after it says To Be Concluded, but before the ending credits, there is a commercial for part 3. I don't know why they did it this way. Not all copies of the movie have that part 3 teaser, but many do have it. If you prefer to know nothing of the movie until you watch it, like me, that will be the time to push Stop. 😎

@@Billinois78 One of the reasons they did this was because it was one of the first times they'd shoot TWO movies at once (Part 2 and 3), and the third film would come out only months after the second one. It was to get the audience pumped for the next movie... These days, post-credit scenes have become a popular thing (i.e.: Marvel Movies)... Remember the "Avengers Commercial" at the end of Captain America?...

The talent judge with the megaphone when Marty's band was trying out to play at the dance was Huey Lewis of the band Huey Lewis and the News. They performed the two prominent songs on the soundtrack for this movie. "I'm sorry. You're just too darn loud." Back to the Future III was a perfect way to end this series.

Amazing masterpiece very classic Back to the Future directed by Robert Zemeckis starring Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Lea Thompson, Crispin Glover, Thomas F. Wilson and music score by Alan Silvestri. This film has memorable moments including two amazing songs Back in Time and The Power of Love singles by Huey Lewis and the News. Oh by the way Huey Lewis makes a cameo as one of the teacher saying "Too darn loud". Thank you Emma great reaction and don't forget reacts Back to the Future Part II and Back to the Future Part III. The whole BttF trilogy is fire. You HAVE to do all three! lol. Additionally, Robert Zemeckis did a groundbreaking live action/animation hybrid called Who Framed Roger Rabbit? that is a must-see. It's especially groundbreaking because all of the incredible effects were accomplished using analog techniques - practical effects, in-camera, optical compositing, and lots and lots of hand-drawn animation. I can't recommend it highly enough!

The whole BTTF trilogy is a masterpiece : great story, greact character, great actors, great screenplay, great music, great sets, it's fun, it's clever and there's a real attention to details (In the beginning, when Marty and Doc met on the parking lot, we see a sign that it's called the "Two Pines Mall", then, in 1955 we see Marty hit a little tree with the car and we hear the farmer yell "Hey, my pine !" then, when we go back to 1985, the parking lot is now called the "Lone Pine Mall".

Michael J. Fox was the first choice to play Marty but his schedule filming the tv show Family Ties led to actor Eric Stoltz being cast instead. They actually filmed six weeks of the movie with Stoltz as Marty but the director and producers felt Stoltz wasn’t hitting the correct level of comedy to portray Marty and he was fired. They were able to get Michael J Fox as Marty after making a deal with Family Ties producers that the tv show was his first priority and he could film back to the future at night. For a few months Michael J Fox actually filmed the tv show in morning and then worked until dawn on back to the future. Got about 3 hours asleep and then start it all over .

I think it's great/funny/inside joke that Marty is playing a Huey Lewis and the News song back to Huey Lewis. Apparently, Michael J. Fox was a really played the guitar well and Huey approved of the song being played by Fox. I would have loved to be a fly on the wall when Huey and a super super tired Michael (he was shooting the movie AND playing Michael Keaton on Family Ties at the time) were jamming.

I'm surprised you took my advice! :O I also recommend 2 and 3. But taking advantage of the fact that Back to the Future, in addition to being directed by Robert Zemeckis, is also produced by Steven Spielberg, I am going to recommend a movie that I love but that curiously few people talk about. It's called Duel and it's Steven Spielberg's first movie. (Little spoiler): A man takes a long trip in his car, but an aggressive truck turns the trip into a nightmare.
