Bad Chad

Bad Chad

We're jumping back on the Bugatti today to (finally...wait who said that?) get the hood latched down with leather hood straps. I believe we ordered the hood straps from Moss Motors which was a lot cheaper than ordering them from Porsche 😱

I would have made a template to lay out the top holes and attached the top before laying out the bottom holes so I could stretch the straps tighter. You put them on loose and your rubber bump stops won’t cure that rattle unless you want a huge gap in the hood. I know you’ll figure it out but you sure had long enough to think about it and now you just made more work for yourself. JS 🤷🏻‍♂️ Hey Fina❣️ BTW nylocks are made to be tightened one time so don’t wrench them down until you’re ready for final assembly

Hey Chad, hi Jolene,Nate and Doug. Chad you should have attached the strap tight on the hood then pull the buckle tight then mark the holes on the body, then when you pull the strap to the last hole the hood would be tight, also I know you don’t like the measuring tape but then it would be centred and the top of buckle would be in line with the hood body line. And you need some drill bits and slow the drill down and take your time
@charlielemmons5525

A small template would have made it easier getting the holes the same on both sides. Hopefully Chad won't tighten them down yet since those are lock nuts. Im sure Jolene likes when more work gets done on her Bugatti.

The Bugatti is looking so sweet. My only concern on the belt latches that you may have not mounted them where they will tighten up tight enough for the hood to not rattle. And i hope the metal on the buckles dont rust. But other than that they look awesome on the car. Cant wait till this car gets done. Gonna be an awesome car.

I love this car Chad. I could never do something that cool. Its so hard to build an exotic car from scratch for the love of your life. Well done!!!!!!! I gotta say redo the steering column. A colapsable shaft tilt for safety and driver comfort. Please sometimes ya gotta bite the bullet. Maybe i am wrong but its too high and its a solid shaft i believe. Dangerous. Sorry to complain but its critical to the build. What a beauty you are building for her. Thanks for all the excellant builds i learn alot from you. Peace be with you and Joline

That's a trip Chad is drilling holes, I was using my black and Decker Drill I bought year's ago. Drilled many many holes with the B.D. Drilling out holes on 18gage metal Plate. I have 16 holes to drill out on the plates, so I can bolt on wheels to a stand I'm making to put my belt sander on. I get to the last two holes to drill. I burnt out my drill it started slowing down and then started smoking from the drill gun!! Got out my cordless drill to drill out the hole I was working on. (until I buy a corded Drill.) Cordless not going to cut it for metal epeacally if I'm drilling long periods of time! I have 2 hardwhear store's to choose from Home Depot or Harbor freight? Drill press or hand drill? After I see what my options are then I'll make my decisions

Thanks and keep up the awesome work. You, Jolene, Nate and Doug are such a great team. Keep on keeping on... 👍 Chad does not like tape measures. LOL Why not measure from the edge of the hood to the top mark for the screw, to make sure they are all the same? It takes a real man to admit mistakes, and when you said I should have done this or done that, it says so much about your character. You are truly a gem. And finally the straps look amazing. Jolene, in the future make sure Chad doesn't unlatch them unless his hands are clean. LOL

Put some sort of ‘ornament’ on the top of the radiator and let it have a couple of extensions coming back over the leading edge of the hood. (On each side of the center rib) That will guarantee the hood can’t lift until you want it to. To take the hood off, unbuckle it, lift the rear of it and slide it out.
