This is incredible. What LeDrib said makes sense. Cricket FPV's explanation is more about difference between being afraid to do it, rather than getting a perspective of where you're flying, to anticipate where the hole on the roof is. But, both gentlemen do a great job together explaining the trick. This trick definitely needs both explanations combined to accomplish it. Cricket FPV's "...more confidence..." and LeDrib's "...perspective..." hits the mark with this one (plus, Cricket FPV's sharp upward pitch motion is also key. That'll take some getting used to, while simultaneously cutting the throttle. :O. And yes, Cricket FPV is right about this one being a lot harder than the wall dive backwards. It'll be some time before I can try this with any of my quads. lol I have to find a place, where they're no people, with a similar setup. Or maybe, a kids playground (monkey bars, etc), very early in the am. lol Drew, can someone practice this with a "ring" gate on a wall with an whoop or the Driblet with prop guards? :) (just got a Driblet frame)

This reminds me of my first power loop tries. First I didn't know where i am till the quad was upside down. I never knew when to cut throttle, so most of the tries i didn't come past the obstacle. My fingers had to learn the timing. Now I have a feeling where the quad is and which angle it has. I think thats how Cricket manages to nail it on first try. Unfortunately a backwards dive seems more difficult to bail out before it is too late. =D

I met cricket in vegas by far my favorite pilot ever!! Dude is down to earth and super down to tell you how many time he fucked up before getting a good line.🤣🤣 he was ready to answer any question i had and finally just ran out of things to talk about never once made me feel that i was taking up his time. Our group has one of those sticks and we cut a notch into the handle for every quad we save with it. We justify the price of a $50 painters pole by saying "We've saved 1000 bucks in recovered quads instead" We are at about 8 notches in the year or so we've had it. There are a ton of times when it would have been nice but we forgot to bring it.

Cool trick and I don't think you would damage as much stuff as people think practising on a roof hole like this, the quad isn't taking a huge hit and you even see people flying away after a failed attempt. Learning to matty flip is how you break quads lol.

Not really. When flying ifr (on instruments) you still have plenty of references to maintain proper altitude and heading. Closing your eyes when flying a quad would be like closing your eyes when flying a plane.

it's only luck if you're not good enough to do it consistently yet. It doesn't help that's the worst possible place for that trick, low approach to a rear slope, no backboard staring at the sun

That's definitely not true. Once you get a feel for it, you can do it consistently. Cricket does them pretty consistently and Drew and Vanover were hitting them pretty well by the end of the day. Like any blind trick, there is an element of luck but it's not pure luck.

Joshua Bardwell yeah you can hit the trick .. if you go at it enough times . I just haven’t seen it a video where it’s at a new spot or done 3 times in one 3/4 min run without a crash. That’s what I mean by consistency.

Yea this one was really hard to judge . Dives with a wall or inside of a shaft are definitely very very consistent.
