In today’s vlog we hang out at home and start the day off with a little backyard summer pool fun! We got Jackson a little shallow pool to play in and a slide for the pool. He loves it!! We were so happy to watch him having so much fun! Then we show Tim and Jackson’s tie dye shirts that Tim made on our Vero Beach stay. They turned out so good!! I think we might try to make more Mickey tie dye tees soon. We continue the vlog the next day because Jackson had a little tumble the night before. We update you on his eye, he’s totally fine. I was more upset than he was but we made a doctors appointment just to be safe. Tim talks to you about his first time having a professional barber shave, the info for his barber is down below! Then we end the night with dinner, we had a spicy beef and leek stir fry. It was delicious! We hope you had fun hanging out with us today, thank you for watching and we’ll see you tomorrow with a new vid!

He could have slipped on anything and fell. I wouldn't worry about the balloons but I would do something about the coffee table. When our daughter was a toddler, we switched our coffee table out with a large soft top, storage ottoman. And, bonus, we gained some more toy storage space. :)

I think if my parents took everything away from my sister and I that we hurt ourselves on as kids, we wouldn’t have had anything to play with ever LOL. First time injury is tough, but he’ll learn not to stand on it now. You guys are great parents, it’s definitely a learning curve when it comes to injury!

kids also tend to get hurt/do reckless things because they don't know how to do risk assessment!! sometimes falling down and getting hurt is part of the process of learning a very important life skill too :)

We have 2 kids and both had their uhohs. I even burned my wrist when I was 3. My dad continually told me to stay away or I would get burned. I did it anyway and I never did it again. I've touched hot things since then, but ALWAYS remember it.

@@PurdueAlum01 They have ridden the skyliner a few times together in the vlogs, even before and with Jackson. Jenn gets nervous every time, but in the end she enjoys it! I don't know if they've ever ridden the bus or the monorail, but... at least the skyliner is not entirely out of the question. Also, you don't need to take Disney transportation to get into the parks. At three of the parks (Hollywood Studios, Epcot, and Animal Kingdom) you can just park your car (they are local so they drive everywhere) and walk to the main entrance. Magic Kingdom is the only park, however, where you HAVE to take additional transportation to get to it from the parking lot. So that is a necessity that they choose - boat or monorail- in order to go. And they chose boat. No time or room for fear there. Sometimes people with anxiety prefer (or, actually, need) strict choices or forced situations because it makes there be no room for anxiety and they are able to just "get over it" much quicker if they want the thing badly enough.

My granddaughter was running in the house and fell. Her head met the corner of a wall. Boys definitely do not have the market cornered when it comes to getting hurt. I freak out every single time. She's slightly clumsy like her mother.💖

I’m not sure if it helps also but some people put gel pads at corners of sharp tables. This may help so that kids don’t bump into the sharp edges and hurt themselves.

Also, Jenn. I know you realize this but you can’t bubble wrap the environment. I know you are scared about Jackson getting hurt but, it’s going to happen. I was a rambunctious and active young girl that hurt myself plenty. When I was 9, i came down a hill on roller skates and impaled my leg on a fire hydrant. It was a big “boo boo” to say the least. I survived and at 56, still have the foot long scar to prove it. It’s rough being a kid but, hopefully, he gets through his youth relatively unscathed because he is a precious little buddy 💙.

True story I have two kids a boy and a girl. Almost grown now. They are amazing kids, I can't brag enough on their awesomeness. That said my life is a series of small heart attacks where they are concerned. They need to take risks and discover their limits and consequences of their choices. Sometimes that just plain scare the heck out of me but I know it's important for their growth from amazing kids to amazing adults.

I agree with many others. You can't take away all risks. You are such loving parents. You can teach him not to stand on balloons. If he attempts, just tell him that it isn't safe. If he attempts after that, then remove it for several minutes, but in his view. This will likely upset him. Calmly explain that we cannot stand on balloons. Ask him if he can play with it safely and if he agrees, give him another attempt. Repeat as needed. He is a smart boy. Teaching him to obey you, even when things look fun will inform the harmony and safety of all of your days. Worth the effort! Y'all are great.

Dude - you crack me up! When my son was Jackson's age, he was standing on an upside-down plastic dolls wagon and slipped and fell on the sharp edge of the plastic of the wagon, splitting his lip open up to his nose. Rushed him to the pediatrician who sent us straight to the plastic surgeon's to be fixed. He had to have several stitches and it was more traumatic for me than for him. And now, at 27, he has no memory of it and no scarring from it. Kids hurt themselves - can't avoid it. But they survive.

You can't really deny him a balloon. He could have tripped or fell on books, blocks, dolls, clothes or even his own feet. He's a kid. He'll get more coordinated as he grows. Maybe those corner soft bumper corners for tables until you feel more comfortable with his running around might be the answer.

Jenn, you did the totally normal motherly reaction just like any other mommy would. I’m so glad that it wasn’t too serious of a bruise. As you said boys will be boys. I also had my first straight razor shave in 2009 for my cousins wedding. I liked it but I much rather just trim it on my own as I have a few shaping tools for my sideburns/beard. A great video as always. Can’t wait to see the next one! I only began watching this a few minutes ago as I was also watching the NHL playoffs LOL. My team did win so I’m in a fantastic mood 😬

You should definitely let Jackson at least try the spicy food you guys eat to introduce him to new flavors, including actual heat! You'd be surprised how tolerant toddlers are of spice - my daughter is about 4 months younger than Jackson and she totally surprised me by loving my spicy Indian curry takeout and even my wasabi peas! Opening up his palate now will help him (and you) in the future when more bland food isn't an option to eat. And it's just plain good for him to have a worldly palate! 🌶️

Yeah but raw water back then was relative cleaner and safer to drink. Now the water may have more contaminants and chemicals which is why I don’t think it’s advisable to drink out of. I do have a water filtration system at home that purifies water from even the tap. But I guess in Florida it’s not as bad to drink from the hose as opposed to somewhere like New York.

I agree we a lot of these comments that the balloon wasn't the problem - it's the coffee table. We moved ours for a year or so when our son was that age. They also make bumper type things you can put around the edges, though yours looks pretty large, so it might be hard to find one that fits. But you're right - boys will be boys. I would agree at maybe moving the coffee table maybe see if about a soft storage cube then at least if anyone fell again it’s padded. You could still get the balloons for him as he loves them but maybe once they show signs of deflating remove them. So, no more balloons because of a booboo, and no more coffee table... Ya'll got a whole lot more, a whole lot worse, ahead of you. Teach him how to take it in stride and learn not to do that next time. Just taking things away or trying to prevent him from getting hurt is counter productive, and honestly, it wont work, he is gonna stumble sometimes, in more ways then one. He has to know how to get through it. We raised 5. Let him play, let him fall, let him heal, let him learn and he will be just fine.

I went to the emergency room twice when I was little because I jumped on my bed and hit my head on the headboard. I broke my foot when I was seven because I was riding my bicycle with no shoes on and got my foot caught in the spokes. My sister sprained her ankle because she was wearing Rolla skates and riding a bicycle. I almost cut my index finger off trying to grate a carrot with a knife. All before I was 8 years old. I have so many more stories. Kids will get hurt and accidents will happen. My sister and I still laugh about them to this day. It's ok to be worried but don't let it take away things from your life. Goodness, I cracked my head open on a swing set incident back in the early 70’s, hit the coffee table near eye and still have that scar, bicycle fall and tore the skin on forehead, etc.. all before 7 yrs old. I survived. My kids had boo boos big and small before 7, and now my grandchildren too. I think it is kind of just a part of childhood, inevitable. All 3 generations of parents tried to keep us safe, but things happen as we grow and learn. My scars are now visible again after I turned 50. I wear them proudly. I have had fun and survived long enough to retell the stories of the scars to my grandchildren. Then they tell their latest story, lol. 😁

The washing of your tie dye shirts turned out great! If you are ever in the situation again where you aren't sure if the color will bleed into the white or other areas, use a product called Color Catchers. It's a sheet like a dryer sheet that you toss in the wash with the shirts. It will absorb any color that comes from the clothing, preventing the color from bleeding into the the clothing. They work great!

Per Tie Dye - I used to tie dye a lot for Disney trips x you can sponge dye some of those big white spots, and Jenn is correct - use heat to set dye. But usually you want to stop the bleeding. With yarn we use vinegar/citric acid soak to set the dye. Then heat set it! With cotton, I think you use soda ash soak, then heat With balloons, you were supervising! Accidents do happen. You as great parents get to decide what is best for your family ❤️. There are incidents with balloons bursting and kids swallowing 😱. I mean, it’s always something! Balloons can be a special treat,

I have a 15 month old and we live on a ranch and honestly he gets bumps, scrapes and maybe some bruises quite often. Accidents just happen. I don’t necessarily think you need to take balloons away but always do what’s best for you ❤️😊

Oh Jen. Hugs. I know everyone will tell you it's no big deal and that boys are rough. I was glad I had my husband to look to when my boys were little and he would answer my normal/ too rough questions. As soon as they were 4 I became the no foul unless there's blood mom, because I realized I was going to be panicking about everything they did and I decided to just let them live their life and hope that they learned good painful lessons quickly so they didn't really hurt themselves terribly. God bless you and Tim with wisdom as you raise Jackson.

My kids are older now, but Jackson is such a delight to watch. He is sooo smart for his age too, following Jen’s direction to put the big rock back and grab a little one...I now say ding dang...thanks Jenn. If Tim’s interested, there is a KZfaq channel, runtheimpossible that you could workout to while going through MK or other Disney surroundings, just as you would in your other videos...thank you for all that you do

I am a preschool teacher to 2 and 3 year olds...they do lots of fun and exciting things lol. Dont take things away, just turn it into a learning experience. Let Jackson enjoy balloons, just make sure he isnt around too much stuff that he can hurt himself.

Please don't take away his balloons. Accidents happen and we all learn from them. My daughter was holding a small plastic cup and fell cutting her cheek. 5 minutes and one band-aid later it was forgotten.

You can get “bumpers” for the edges of hard surfaces. They have sticky on the underside and when the grow up and you don’t need them on the furniture, come off easily. I think you can get them on Amazon. Had them for my granddaughters and worked out great.

My son is the same age as Jackson and we have an inground pool as well but also bought him his own toddler pool this year and he absolutely loves it! And I love that he can have a water day without me having to have a water day lol Great way to get a good few hours in the afternoon kid free as well since the sun tuckers them out after about an hour and a half!

I can’t see the link you said in the video today, but otherwise it looks like your Jackson is doing ok. I recommend teaching him about the concept of danger, which means that he learns about what kind of things he can have and can’t have, for safety concerns.
