Totally agree with you, the items you mentioned that you would not have ordered are spot on. Those items are not needed and simply a waste of money.

While being the one of the first to buy a new product is exciting, supplementing the order with add-ons that you didn’t know would be unnecessary is a huge downside.

The 20x42 is an outstanding offset with great value for the money.

While this pit is very well fabricated, it is not perfect by any means. Many variances with pit temps, hot spots etc. it all boils down to the pit master learning the pit and understanding how it operates. This is true for any pit. Smoke on people!

I agree, learning how your pit cooks is the key to mastering it.

Hey Kenyatta I have the 42x20 also. Mine is a little over a year old. I haven't used my Guru port or charcoal basket yet. I'm thinking I will use them during an overnight brisket cook. I haven't cooked a brisket yet either. I'm going to try one this spring. I also bought the cover, but I'm using mine all the time. It seems to be keeping the rust to an almost non existent level in condition with the food grade mineral oil. I didn't get the gas assist or tool rack either. Good video!

Thanks @Mike-Sid! It has rained a ton this winter so I started using my cover again. Enjoy your first brisket cook…. give yourself the entire day!

Agree 100%.. I tried the charcoal basket and found the charcoal would light in the other chambers so it burned way too much charcoal. The gas assist was used maybe once... The Guru fan port was also used only once and wasn't effective.

Thanks @Chris. I think the fan experience was the biggest disappointment but it taught me that the wood splits are going to burn naturally at the pace that they want to burn.

Great video... I don't think there's any pitt that holds temperatures eventually all the way across they all got hot and cold or spots

I can't speak from direct experience with other offsets but I agree with you. I'm sure there are others who would swear that their pits burn at even temps throughout their pit but I think they would be hard pressed to prove it scientifically. Just knowing that each wood split burns differently tells me there is likely some degree of variability inside of every pit. For me, satisfaction comes from being able to maintain a steady temperature range over a reasonable amount of time which is something that our LSGs are great at.

Just ordered my 20x42 about three weeks ago, super excited! Your video sure did help with a few of my decisions if I really need it or not. But, my question is actually for your decal. How did that go about, do that contact you about it or do you just send your idea into them? Loves yours by the way!

Congratulations on your order! Contact LSG and let them know that you want to add metal art to your smoker. They will give you the pricing options. I sent them the artwork for the logo that my daughter designed for me. You can send them your own artwork. I believe they may also have samples if you need help. They use a vendor who will turn your artwork into the metal design that will be attached to your smoker. I hope that helps!

Hi Kenyatta, in your previous video I think you live in NorCal? Where or who do you source your wood from?
@BackyardSmokeMasterBBQ

Yes, I’m in the Bay Area. I go to Hurst Firewood in American Canyon. I’ve also heard good things about Lazzari Firewood in Brisbane. One more to consider is Bear Bottom Farms Firewood in Richmond.

Thanks for the info, I live in the Bay Area should I purchase the LSG stick burner in the future I know exactly where the AC wood place is. I'm currently in the process of purchasing the LSG Pellet smoker until I'm retired and have more time for a stick burner. @@BackyardSmokeMasterBBQ

The real difference between the 1975 and the LSG is that the 1975 is a more traditional flow, top down smoker. How much better bark can the 1975 give you woth so much more air flow?

What do you mean top down?
@JarrodBbq27
@JarrodBbq27 Жыл бұрын
It's not exactly apples to apples. I'd say the real difference is that the 1975 is a 24x48 traditional flow, 3/8ths steel pipe smoker. The LSG 20x42 has a 3/16ths chamber with crossflow technology and a 1/4 inch firebox. Both are great units but very different. The LSG 24x48 would be a much better comparison to the WH and would certainly be one of my top picks.
