Something to check, I've seen on numerous 747s the WOT rpms we're not correct. Mine and my father's were both around 3200rpms when we got them. I adjusted with the screw below carb behind muffler to 3700 static and it will be 3600 (where it is rated at and supposed to be set at) with blades engaged and it will make a world of difference. RPM meter built into the hr meter. I've got a few other tips with the deck if interested to speed blades up to enhance discharge ability.

Glad to see someone else wearing their Seamaster for all occasions - mine only ever comes off to be cleaned, and it’s survived all kinds of daily abuse for 16 years!

I'm only at 10 hours on my ZT-Elite and I just hit that filter with the air gun every so often and at yearly oil change. I'll probably need to wash the pre-filter next time like you did. I also started using Lucas oil fuel injector/carb cleaner in mine and I can tell it's running smoother. I also run ethanol free gas from a nearby CountryMark in my mower and other small engine blowers and weed eaters I think that makes a difference too.

This is what I like about your videos. They are to the point and informative. Also using Dawn is great because it is also a degreaser. I am also wanting to see the hydraulic oil change to. I just did my air filter because of all the dust in my area. We have a lime rock road and the white dust when mowing around it is really bad. I didn't have a vacuum so I stuck a tennis ball in the hole and used my air hose to blow everything out of the way. I only have 5 hours on the mower but I knew the filter was going to be dirty. AGAIN THANKS A LOT...

Tennis ball is a smart trick. Keep an eye out for the hydro-gear oil change video.....The work is done, just gotta throw the video together.

I want to say after the first 8 hours and then every 50 hours or annually. I don’t cut 50 hours a year so I just change it once a year.

I assume you have changed the oil on this machine before? You made taking the drain plug off look easy. Mine is factory tight on there and I cant get it to budge. Using a wrench and socket just like you and it wont budge. Any tips?

Yeah I’ve changed it a few times. The first time was definitely tough….I think I added a small piece of pipe to my ratchet handle to get it to break loose the first time

May I ask, if you know the engine takes two quarts why don't you put the two quarts in at one time rather than starting it and then adding the rest of the oil ???

So 2 qts oil on that 747? I was going to blow out the air cleaner with a blow gun but noticed you didn’t do it(??) . I have 21 hrs on my Elite. When I bought mine they gave me 2 qts oil but no filter. Can you buy filters elsewhere other than auth dealer? Enjoy your videos man
@south_coast
@south_coast 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, if you have the Kohler it should be 2 quarts. Hitting the air filter with some compressed air would not be a bad idea.

Is the 10W-30 synthetic oil recommended for that mower?

You’d have to double check your manual. I can’t remember off the top of my head.

Regular 10w30 per my Bad Boy dealer. You can also sub a Motorcraft FL400S for the filter. Saw another video where the guy used that, and followed up with a second video with a cutout comparison. $3.95 at Walmart, and it is a better filter than the OEM.

In the video I see that darned 070-0056-00 part number clutch. The bolt fell out of mine and the bottom bearing is gone. The thing has slid all the way down to the bolt head on that long bolt. Caused vibration that broke one of the wires. Why am I bringing this up? Because my 2017 (and later models) use that particular clutch. You can find no information on it, other than it's in the $350 price range. But you can find lots of info on the earlier clutch, model number 070-1000-00, which I bought before I noticed a difference. I'll get it tomorrow and see if it fits. It probably will, since I'm not aware of kholer changing their engine shaft. It takes a 1" longer bolt, which I have. But it's odd you can find no information on the new clutch other than that it's available for a price and fits newer models. I've been doing my own tractor, mower, motorcycle and car repairs since 1969. I've never come across such a "mysterious" part before. Rant over.

Interesting. Hopefully I don’t run into that issue. May have to go check that bolt on mine

@@south_coast Well, I got the new part (the pre 2017 part number), installed it, and the mower is smoother than I remember for a long time. I found out that the "old" (070-1000-00) part works just fine. In fact, I suspect it's actually a better part (still the one used on their "pro" stuff). So far the bolt falling out is the only manufacturing/assembly defect I've found on this thing. That bolt should NOT fall out. Period. Sadly, about the bottom third of the "key slot" in the motor shaft is widened quite a bit because of all that slopping around as the clutch slid down the shaft. The head of the long "stabilizing" bolt is all that kept it from falling off. But that widened slot did make it a little easier to put the new clutch on. And I think it will be fine, frankly. Most of the slot is left.
