@@dsmyifyCan't wait to see it. I genuinely loved the previous 3, so there's no way this movie WON'T be an insanely interesting, intense, ingenious HIT, with TWO thumbs up. No, I'd say Chris is NOT in the minority, I also enjoyed "Bad Boys 3: For Life", no seriously. No joke, l saw that one in theaters 3 times. The Bad Boys movies for me, kept getting better and better. I got in trouble as a kid, watching Bad Boys 2 on demand, convinced by a former friend of mine, and my Mom and Dad yelled at me for it, and I accepted full responsibility for watching an "R" Rated movie despite only being 11 at the time. But I loved that movie too. I genuinely love every Bad Boys movie. I'm glad we got the 4th one finally. Because after the 3rd one, I was HOPING they'd revisit the plotline with Mike having an adult son who's a convicted criminal. I actually felt the dynamic between Mike and his adult son from the last film. So I'm glad this movie's more of that. Because I legit thought I was like, the ONLY person in the world who actually thought Bad Boys 3 was AS great as the first 2. Glad Chris feels the same way. Because I felt alone there...

@conormurphy4328 rogue one was a movie no one asked for and focused on characters that no one knew and it's great. Bad boys for life came out 17 years after bad boys 2 and was a hit. Furiosa is an awesome movie and studios choosing to put movies on streaming or VOD after they don't smash the box office in 1 weekend just reinforces the behavior in people that they don't need to go to the theater because they can watch it in a few weeks at home.
@conormurphy4328

@@InertFoxtrot117 Rogue one was a movie from one of the biggest franchises in the world right after it had been revived. Of course people wanted more Star Wars content. And bad boys 3 was carried by its famous leads. Furiosa was too late unlike Rogue One and no significant legacy star power to draw people like Bad Boys. Maybe if they brought in Mel Gibson or made it closer to Fury road people would have cared more. What happened however is unsurprising.

I haven’t really gone to Kent theaters much lately (I met you there like 8 years ago!!) so I’m not sure how that theater is doing. I go to the nightlight a light with the gold membership. I love Chris’s take on movies becos he’s also all about the movie theater experience as well. There is something so exhilarating and special when youre around a bunch of people excited and completely invested in the present moment and what they’re about to watch. The movie might be not that great in the end, but if the crowd is nerding out and excited, it really elevates your movie theater experience and connection to the film!

@@geronimo1595Hey, I also grew up with the other 3 Bad Boys movies. Loved all of them. Yes, even For Life, the one where Will Smith hugs his adult son. They're all great to me. While I did get into trouble as a kid, watching Bad Boys 2, because I was only 11 at the time, it was still one of the best and coolest movies I'd ever seen. I mean, the shot near the end where Mike and Marcus get up, with Mike putting his shades on, and Marcus loading his gun, was so freaking cool back then. It's still cool now. I know Will Smith's name is basically poison now, but I think we can forgive and forget about what happened. It's been like what, a year? I think we can forget it now. I thought we'd never get this 4th movie, but I'm glad we did. And I'm glad that Smith and Lawrence haven't lost their touch, and Mike and Marcus STILL have their chemistry between them. I just hope Beverly Hills Cop 4 turns out to also be a good one. Who knows, we could even see a Rush Hour 4 someday...I'm probably in the minority there though...

I think the division between those who like 3 better or the first 2 better is fairly clear cut. 1 & 2 are very light movies. No major characters gets killed or injured, no one is going through major trauma, and the villains are pretty throwaway. 3 was fairly heavy for a Bad Boys movie, dealing with existential drama over aging, Mike’s near death, the Captain getting assassinated, and the trauma of the past. I do think 3 was the best movie overall but I get why people just wanting a pure lighthearted time preference the first 2.

I've watched Bad Boys I-III in the last week in anticipation of Ride or Die. In my mind I always had Bad Boys II ahead of Bad Boys I, however after rewatching them I think Bad Boys I was definitely the better of the two films. Bad Boys II was enjoyable but felt too long, I'd completely forgotten most of it including the ending in Cuba. It's a full on, over the top movie! Bad Boys For Life was a first time watch as I'd missed it in 2020. I thought it was ok, I didn't like the twist or the retconning of Mike's past, it felt a bit clunky. The way they kind of glossed over the death of one of the main characters from the series didn't feel well handled. Anyway, last night I watched Bad Boys: Ride or Die. Wow! I really enjoyed it, I think it's right up there with the first one. Martin Lawrence has so much more to do in this one and is hilarious, the new characters were well handled and the action set-pieces were awesome. Seriously, this is one of the best sequels I've seen for a long time. If they decide to make another one and it's as good as this I'll be there.

Chris, you promote the theater experience a lot and I feel you BUT when I saw Furiosa in the theater, I had to sit through 30 minutes of previews and ads in the beginning. If the industry wants us to keep going to theaters - they need to stop ignoring the cash grabbing annoyances that keep us from going.

I've found it helps to get there late if you've already bought the tickets. Plenty of time for concessions and a bathroom break, then if you see a trailer before the movie starts, it's more of a bonus.

It's funny cause that's far from my biggest problems with theaters. My local theaters are showing some top level movies for only a week. All 3 theaters within a 40 mile radius of me was showing Furiosa for ONE WEEK. And the last two days had like 2 showtimes throughout the entire day. Now that's fucked and that's a sign of theaters dying.

Overall, I enjoyed Bad Boys Ride or Die. Things that made me frown. 1. Too many quick edits, shaky cam and jump cuts. (Why are action films still doing this?) 2. Poorly timed racial humor that takes you out of the moment. 3. Killing off characters from the previous films that we love. Things that made me smile: 1. REGGIE!!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
