@@ProLongevitySo I am a bit confused. What constitutes the arterial plaque? Is it lipid deposition? Does that happen only with repeated insult, such as when blood glucose is so high that insulin no longer works and sets up scaring? Do platelets have a role?

@@garyloss2878 You need to read Malcolms book! Can only cover so much in a pod! Yes lipid deposition is involved and yes repeated insults (can be numerous types not only sugar) are the main cause!

Just wondering what the low trig/high Hdl ratio (widely given as indicator of good metabolic health) does to help arterial health? Other than low trig indicating low carb intake? Not sure if HDL works to 'repair thr potholes' ? I have high Ldl. 40 years of type 1 with imperfect control but other risk factor's are good yet keep being told to statinate. I have got the Clot Thickens but hope it gets onto Audible as have poor sight (retinopathy of course).

Hi @Nicole: Its important to distinguish between a biomarker and any illness. High Trigs/LowHDL is an indicator of raised insulin / insulin resistance and this is a (the!) major driver of cardiovascular disease. Don't get too hung up on one bio marker however- as I discuss in the video, my lipid ratios are not ideal but my CAC is effectively zero.. indicating exceptionally low cardiovascular risk.
