I've never had a pool heater, but I'm a Realtor has seen home warranties that have coverage for pool heaters. You might look into that with your next one. Usually it's an additional add-on to your home warranty.

It always seems like Warranties expire right before something potentially go wrong. Ugh 3 years on something that might last 15 years doesn’t seem all that great

I would try and book an ENT appointment as soon as possible. It’s so hard to find doctors who are accepting new patients and take your health insurance! The wait for an appointment is often times months.

Something definitely doesn't sound right with your pool heater. My parents bought our home when I was a baby, I'm 26 now, and the pool heater still works. I'm pretty sure it's the original heater. So yeah something is up with maybe the particular brand you have?

I yad chronic sinus infections for way too long and what finally helped me was using a neti pot with colloidal silver added to it (in addition to the pharmaceutical grade salt).

It’s awesome you appreciate the view. It’s breathtaking but people who normally live such places take it for granted. I don’t get the pool heater stuff. I live in Denmark, in the summer the pool get warm enough just from the sun, and my country is no where near as warm as your place. You use the pool to cool down when the weather is warm. 78 Fahrenheit is perfect pool temperature in the summer, and with just some hoses on the roof you can easily get 90 degrees at your latitude, but I would consider that way too hot to be pleasant. But hey we have just 14 degrees Fahrenheit these days, so we are used to cold weather :-)

Hi Shelby, wow your sinus infection has gone on for a little too long! Have you had some blood work done to make sure it isn’t some thing a bit more serious? Maybe you just need to rest more? That really sucks that the pool heater broke in such a short time, especially after you paid to have it repaired! Studying for your real estate license every day is the way to go as far as I’m concerned, it’s the way I did it. I don’t sell real estate anymore, but I would sit quietly for a planned amount of time, read and take notes. Best of luck to you, I think it’s awesome that you are doing that! good strategy to start looking now before the rates come down and the prices go up. My parents put a pool and spa in their backyard in 1981. Nothing went wrong with any of the pool equipment for almost 20 years. They make stuff [so cheap] now.. Greed and corruption is totallt out-of-control. 😩

My Hayward heater is working well, even with the desert elements. Useable life is 10-15 yrs in the desert. I’m sorry to hear this! A heater shouldn’t have that many issues early on.

I feel like refunding the cost of the pool heat to the guests and explaining the situation so that you could have shopped around for a new brand that would last longer might’ve been a good move (not sure if it’s possible to only refund the pool heat cost though). That sucks that it broke so quickly :(

Definitely look at a new brand. I have had family and friends with that brand and they didn’t last. The brand did reimburse them the cost of the heater though so might be worth a try.

If motherboard breaks and gets replaced or repaired on something....it's just never become the same anymore. Try figuring out if the repair person added the motherboard from the same company or not if you had it replaced earlier.

Before having any operation have you tried using a rhinhorn to rinse out the sinuses. It get it's name because it actually looks like the horn of a rhino. It's in plastic. You boil water and you add in salt and then you tilt you head over the wash hand basin and let the lukewarm water find its ways up your left or right nostril and the water goes through your sinuses and comes out of the other nostril. Could be worth trying out but very strange to do the first time you do it.

Shelby, you paid the cancellation fee for your service? What you don’t know is you can suspend the service and avoid the fee. Makes sense if you no longer paying for the service, you can put it on standby mode with no time limit because terminating a service contract can be expensive.

Have you tried using a netti pot? If you decide to try it, make sure to use distilled water. It sure helped me with my sinus issues.

Look into heat pump pool heaters. You’d save so much over natural gas.

Check to see if the Company that makes that heater can send you a new one or the company where you purchased it from! The warranty should be 10 years or more! Crappy company! I had an allergy and itchy throat! Got some Zaditor Eye Drops for itchy eyes and it cleared up! Be well, and I hope you feel better! Strive for more in 2024! 🎉🎈🎉🙏

Did you pay for the heater with Amex? You might have an extended warranty, at least we do in Canada..

As someone in the pool industry, Pentair is actually a good brand for pool heaters. They come with a 3 year warranty so as long as you are within that time frame you should have been able to get everything fixed for free. It’s probably the fault of the installer or service provider that there are so many issues with it. Maybe consider switching pool service companies so they can better help you?

For a while you were into woodworking... are you going to pick that up again in the future?

I’m not sure what your laws are over there in the US but here in Australia we have consumer protection laws which are in addition to warranties given by sellers (and can’t be removed by sellers or manufacturers). They are not limited to the strict time frames given by sellers. They are along the lines of the reasonable length of time something should last, taking into account cost ect. So for example, if you buy an expensive TV and the warranty is say 6 months, it should last longer than that. So if it breaks down in say 7 months, you’d still have a claim and the retailer AND manufacturer would have legal obligations to repair or replace, regardless of any express warranty they gave. The length of time is not precise and depends on factors such as cost as mentioned above, but they can be really helpful.

Call the manufacturer before anything. If it’s life is 10 to 15 yrs, something is wonky

At 10:30 It could easily be something in your new apartment building that is making you sick. Or a change in your diet, or new products(beauty, cooking, etc.)that you are using. I just have a feeling that it is in your apartment building that doing it. It could even be in that rooftop hot tub. When you leave your apartment for several days.. if it goes away then you know it's something in your building that's causing the sinus infection.

3 years for pool heater, new one $10k. Pool lights 3 years, $1k each. Our new house, no pool, only free standing hot tub. Don’t buy a Hayward or Pentair.

I'm sorry that happened to you! Eating soup with a fork? You may have allergies. I've had a stuffy head, runny nose, sneezing and watery eyes for about as long or maybe longer. I lose track of time. It's great you are able to change internet providers. At my apartment complex, we're stuck with Windstream, and Spectrum is the only cable provider we can use. There are many others in my area, but for some reason my complex is stuck with those two.

That sucks about the pool heater. That should not have happened. We have a pentair pool heater put in this last. I hope we don’t have issues.

If there are field mice, they can get into anything. Mice hate the smell of dryer sheets. It works in my wife's Kia because mice eat them. If this is the case, I hope you can use this solution.

Ugh, that sucks about the sinus issues. If you don't get answers from an ENT, I'd highly recommend finding a naturopathic doctor or integative medicine specialist - they can help you look into environmental factors or other potential triggers (food sensitivities, mold exposure, gut issues etc.) that could be affecting your immune system or causing the sinus problems to be ongoing! I'd also be curious if the sinus stuff got worse after your jaw surgery?? I actually found your channel a couple of years ago when I was prepping for my own jaw surgery (your videos were super helpful BTW!), and I definitely experienced some sinus symptoms for these first two years or so afterwards as everything adjusted...I even had all my metal plates removed because I'm pretty sure I was having a reaction to the titanium over time! In any case, I hope you figure it out and get some relief 🙂

Would you be up for buying a lot and building a place to get that new new or will you stick to a reno? If the pool heater is just a resistive heater, not a heat pump then 3 years with a lot of problems does sound poor. It's comparable to an oven or toaster so no reason to fail other than the pump itself after a long time. The heater could actually be in the pool bottom like floor heating, then it wouldn't need a pump or plumbing.

Jump on that bandwagon quicker than 6 months for your purchase. Also, cooking is so much fun, and baking too.
