I’ve never commented on you not using a mask. I worked my entire career not using a mask. I smoked for over 45 years, worked with asbestos ( when we didn’t know the damage it could do) and worked with some really nasty chemicals, all without a mask. I’m 65 haven’t smoked in just over four years. Quit first time I tried. I used the patch but that’s another story. My lungs are darker than a tire and I’m sure that the smoking had plenty to do with that but they may not have been as bad had I wore a mask more often. I have trouble walking a flight of stairs now days , please use a mask, any mask is better than no mask. I felt fine right up til I was about 59/60 then it started. Get ahead of it Chad please. Jolene if your the one that reads these comments please encourage him to wear one. Thanks😷👍🇨🇦

Epoxy primer seals bare metal moisture won’t get under it. That’s why it’s used. You can prime it with epoxy primer and do your filler on top of it. Nothing wrong with starting with high build it works too but epoxy just goes one step further.

I really like the way you show how a “normal person” in his garage can do things without a bunch of high dollar machines and tools. Second. I've been following the Bugatti build and everything in between since the first episode. I really appreciate how we have learned a little bit about how you have gotten to where you are now. Chad, we can see that your positive attitude and happiness hasn't always been part of your every day life. I enjoy hearing about your life lessons along the way and how you have overcome some of the shit that life throws at many of us. You've taught us how you've learned to create some really amazing builds with limited funds. I am truly thankful for that, and I think that alot of the community here following you would agree that you have shown us how anyone can do just the same without all the fancy expensive tooling and materials. You often find controversy in alot of the comments but the facts are in the quality finished product. As a fellow Canadian I am thankful that you have opened my eyes to alot of techniques that will straight up save me time and money, I'm inspired by you and this channel, keep the great content coming! And Jolene! It's so very obvious that Chad would not be the same person without you in the equation, you guys rock! I have 2 young boys who have also started to ask daddy to put "bat chat" on the TV, I am thankful they can watch something with me that I enjoy and also get to see a great example of another man being respectful with his partner, something that is hard too find in mainstream TV today. ABS brakes are not installed for any kind of economy. They are to keep the wheels from locking up or skidding on slick surfaces and or panic stops. Brakes are most efficient at the moment just before lock up (skidding). ABS systems pump the brakes to keep them in that narrow power band of braking efficiency. ABS is never activated during normal driving conditions. They are activated by the wheel speed sensors & computer detecting millisecond differences in individual wheel speeds, outside of programmed parameters. Example: sensors detect rear wheels going 30mph and a front wheel is only going 5 mph (ABS calculates the front wheel(s) must be skidding or close to it). Additionally, if your front wheels are locked up, you can't steer. This is why any description of ABS usage for economy and the comparison to automotive coatings is kind of a stretch. My comments are meant to be constructive. I enjoy your videos and respect your work ethic.

Thanks for clearing that up for me. I’ve been beating my head against the wall trying to figure out the whole epoxy polyester deal. I’m not a paint guy but I am in the middle of prepping my old Camaro that I’ve had for 40 years because I can’t afford to have someone else to do it so this helped me out. I wanna say thank you for this one video! I've been waiting for it. I have been doing my own body work and paint on my own projects and was told I had to apoxy prime mine due to being in bare metal. I sanded mine 40-80 grit as well. I too now will go to primer with confidence watching this one channel! Thank you Chad!!!

I'd be happy to get a top coat to look that good. Seriously, I have learned so much from Chad and wish I had found him before I restored my classic. We do not all have the luxury of a spray booth and amazing equipment- or the skill to go with it. We also want to do the work ourselves because we get a kick out of it, even if we can't hit perfection. I've picked up loads of tips for next time. Keep it up Chad and Jolene- brilliant stuff.

You are kinda explaining what I told my daughter last month. The whole world has assisted in laziness ie. Self braking cars GPS assistance dtm dtam primers high build epoxy etc. Glad I'm not the only one who sees this. Well, that was a strange explanation. Featherfill is sort of an epoxy, because it is mixed with a hardner. What it does not do is seal out moisture, and that is what kills the paint adhesion. It would work ok I am sure for several years, if it was done in a dry shop. But epoxy is designed to be a solid moisture barrier, so no water can get to the metal at all, and why it is used on bare metal. Anyway, it will be good for years, most likely. Sanding and polishing the metal really has nothing to do with the chemistry of paint, that is the mechanical bond. Most of his stuff is good, shows good technique and so forth, but the education as to the real reasons why is sorely missing.

I agree on pumping the brakes, that's how I drive also. It keeps your brakes cooler. You owe no one an explanation on how you do your job. You know what works for you. Wow! Awesome advice! I’ve been following for awhile now since I picked up my 1965 caddy convertible, and haven’t started yet because it’s a huge project and have no idea where to start. Now when you said start with the easiest thing first...I was actually saving the body for last! Which right now it’s the easiest compared to the frame, floors, motor...I fucken thank you for this! Because it would be sitting there for awhile before starting since I was getting discouraged! And I LOVE THIS CAR! Love you guys!!! 🤘🏻

I am up in the air here. I went to auto body school in the 90s. I was told epoxy primer over bare metal then primer surfacer over the epoxy. Was also told epoxy primer over the dent/repair then the bondo then epoxy over the bondo. Epoxy seals out moisture.

The polyester products adhere primarily by mechanical adhesion (sanding scratches, texture or 'tooth'). Self-etching primers, epoxy etc. rely on chemical and mechanical adhesion.

Everyone has there own opinion and way of doing things. You need to always have a beginners mind set. That way you are always open to new ways. Used to paint cars with my dad in our garage. Never understood why we couldn’t just use the fastest thing for the job, until seeing how nice the finished product turned out. Watching brought back good memories.
