Very good video and the obvious quality of your work . I think the curved roof absolutely makes this standard shed / workshop design. From the few episodes I have viewed it would seem you are not building it on a budget! Great job

Enjoying your build. You are the first builder in the UK I have seen that is smart enought to elevate your floor structure up off of the ground. Good thinking! The one place I see that your focus on ease of building is that you have a structural split at the center of your shop. The floor and the walls both break at the center. Over time this will result in the structure splitting at this point. There will also be added stress on the roof to hold it together. While it would have been better to splice the floor structure with at least an 8 foot length on the inside of each side plate. The walls should have been built in three sections to move the wall split to a different place then the floor split. Think in the future of where the structure's weak points are; where they are depending on the tension of the screws to hold it together rather than the shear strength of a much longer connection. Carpentry is all about shear strength! You are learning from doing so keep doing!!!!

@@Badgerworkshop your pretty adept at leather work, even if you knock up a smaller style belt that isn't bulky, and just houses the bare minimum essentials. Seen a vid the other day, and for the life of cannot remember who it was, they had a custom built belt, was smallish n size and had strong magnets incorporated to hold things like a steel rule and square as well as a tape measure. Was a pretty neat idea.

Apologies if you answered this already.

Great job. I'm going to build my own in the spring, but I was playing with the idea of making half the building workshop and put up a stud wall and make the other half a garden living room, sofa, TV ect. My frustration is that I want to do it all to a high spec with double glazing ect but obviously will cost more. If I jus make a shed style Im bound to regret it but it would be lot cheaper, but the building will be proof of my workmanship. Did you play around with different ideas? UK fan.
@Badgerworkshop

I had lots of ides but time and money were big concerns. You could frame the building with 4 x2 s and when you have more money later add insulation and internal cladding
@scottmclean6301
@scottmclean6301 5 жыл бұрын
@@Badgerworkshop yeah I know what, money is obviously a factor I built a large wooden building last year using 3x3 treated timber and 50mm insulation, then treated cladding but the cladding soon weather's and looks rough. I'm not sure if 3x3 will be needed on my my own shop, thicker materials might not mean stronger. I would love to use sapele for cladding but it would cost a fortune. Maybe there is away I can use sapele as a feature but not the main cladding
