Badminton thumb grip. The thumb grip is the most used grip in badminton when using the backhand, and the grip where you add power to your shots. The thumb grip can also be the ending up point from the bevel grip, meaning that you can start your power shot at the bevel grip, and then rotating the grip inside your hand ending up with a thumb grip, that way you can generate more power.
I will show you where to use it, and how to use it - Let´s GO😃
It is crucial to hold the grip with loose fingers so you can generate the power when using the finger power. Also important to use the rotation in the forehand to generate even more power. Watch the video to learn more...🤩

Very cool. The thumb grip in hammer style is my backhand drive in tennis. I badminton it's logical to hold in a thumb grip pistol style due to the smaller handle and light flexy racquet.

Exceptional video as always!! 🤩💜 CoachI have one question that is when to use backhand shots? in most of the pro level rallies the players rarely hits backhand clears, I do not understand how they take the shuttles sooo early so that they can use forehand even in the backhand corner 🤯
@BadmintonFamly
@BadmintonFamly 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot👌🏻 Yes agree not many backhands used at Pro level, they are SO good going away from the center to move to that corner, the footwork really needs to be quick and explosive💪🏻

Hi, it's already an old video, but still, i want to ask something, trying to improve my skill. . as compare with, say ,power smash, . 1. we start with loose grip, then start to swing, 2. adding finger power, and 3. finally......... HOLD THE HANDLE OF YHE RACKET VERY TIGHT and hit the shuttle. . for backhand strokes using thumb grip, say, . net kill, push drives , and defence, . as you said, . 1. we start with loose grip, start the arm motion, 2. adding finger power,then , . 3. do we have to "hold the handle of the racket very tight" to hit the shuttle ? .
@BadmintonFamly
@BadmintonFamly 3 жыл бұрын
Tighten up the grip while hitting the shuttle, the timing is very important 👍🏻

Would you also advocate using the bevel grip for smash defence? If so, are there any adjustments required to the stroke?
@BadmintonFamly
@BadmintonFamly 4 жыл бұрын
Yes i use the bevel grip (almost a thumb) in the defense. Then when adding power/fingerpower i rotate around inside my hand ending up with the thumb grip.👍🏻

Is it necessary to hold grip tightly when hitting the shuttle does it helps in hitting shutting more accurate and with power please help me sir I am so confused 😢😖
@BadmintonFamly
@BadmintonFamly 4 жыл бұрын
It is important to hold loose and then add the finger power to generate more power. Tight grip = more power and loose grip = more accurate shots

Hi. I have difficulty when I am using thumb grip for smash defence. The opponent hits a couple of smashes to me left and I return it easily, but when the third shot lands towards my right side, I don't have enough power to return the shuttle deeply since it is to my forehand and the opponent kills it after that. Any tips on how to handle this?
