The grip in badminton is a key element when starting to play for the first time, and also when you improve your level, always have the grip in focus.
But not only beginners can learn from this video, like Rasmus says in the video, he played for 3 years before learning these basic grips. It is SO important in order to do good and hard strokes.
The video focuses on the basic forehand grip, and the backhand grip (the thumb grip for extra power). And also some tips on how to change between the 2 grips.
Focus on:
- Be very relaxed in your arm & fingers
- Train these grips very easy in the beginning with easy exercises, making sure you hold the racket/grip correct.
- Also focus on how to use the wrist the correct way, we made a video about that, find it here: • How Should We Use the ...
Good luck out there training this.💪🏻
We hope you enjoy the video.😎

Very good video like always 😁😁 (only critique would have been that you didn't explain the backhand grip when you're late in the back court). Btw, could you film you playing in single and/or doubles? Because I really would like to see your game 😁😁

Good vid and very important for beginners. Very tempting to hit fore hand overheads with a grip whereby the the racket head is rotated slightly anticlockwise in the hands from the perspective of a right-handed player's eyes (so instead of being in a 12-6 o'clock alignment it is in a 11-5 o'clock alignment with arm held straight out in front of you). This grip it is easier to hit the sweet spot more consistently in forearm overheads, however it ultimately limits the maximum power achievable through proper forearm pronation - its an easy bad habit to start (and one that I fell victim to). Better to start properly (albeit perhaps hitting less consistently initially) and maximise your power in the long run.
@BadmintonFamly
@BadmintonFamly 5 жыл бұрын
Totally agree, do NOT take shortcuts to hit easier, if you don't use the forearm rotation you won't be able to hit harder strokes. The rotation in the arm is almost present in ALL strokes in badminton💪🏻

I heard from a video that more advanced players use a different kind of a grip in which you don't have to keep switching from the forehand to backhand grip because the traditional way is too slow. Just curious if this is true or not as I only heard it from one source?
@ChyeHeng17
@ChyeHeng17 5 жыл бұрын
I would say test it out these suggestions from multiple sources. Then improvised it, adjust it to suit your style and preference.
@BadmintonFamly
@BadmintonFamly 5 жыл бұрын
That is not true, advanced players switch grips all the time, and I mean all the time, between every time they hit the shuttle, so the more you can switch between these types of grips the better 😉

Very informative video. Thanks a ton. I am not sure which grip to use when trying to smash a shuttle which is directly above my head. I can very well play a neat smash using basic forehand grip when I am able to get behind the shuttle, but using the same forehand grip results in a weak smash when shuttle is above my head, one of the reasons I can think is because of less time my forearm doesn't get time to fully pronate. Does this mean there is a different grip for this situation? Please help.
