His rematch against Overeem was the most badass fight in his career... Overeem had everybody in K1 shaking in fear for him, but at a presser before the fight Hari didn't have much to say except calmly promising the crowd that Overeem wasn't going to get to the end of the first round... and he made good on that promise.

@Peter Hahnke. Brilliantly articulated, dear sir ❤️🙂. Indeed pride comes before a fall and at times the later it comes the greater the humiliation. But sometimes I think maybe the nature of combat sports makes the competitor go into primitive mode so they loose sense or become numb to the value of being humble and retaining contact with sanity by keeping their feet on the ground and remembering that they did too once defeat another person to get where they are and so the same principle applies to them. Personally, I would go through life being a nobody while being rightly guided, principled and humble person rather than being triumphant in fame, power, money, and victory while losing the basic human dignity by being humble and kind. Badr Hari, born and raised in Amsterdam in the Netherlands, is of Moroccan Berber descent. His parents are Moroccans from the Houara tribe of the Sous region who moved to the Netherlands. Hari began practicing kickboxing at the age of seven, under the guidance of former World Champion Mousid Akamrane. As a teenager he trained at the Sitan Gym of Mohammed Aït Hassou. Thanks for this great video. I've loved watching the clips and appreciate your focus on this guy. I think I can safely ask you the following question.... (I’ve asked this same question of at least twenty other KZfaq presenters, so I hope you don’t take it personally, or in a negative way. I’m on a quest to understand a particular speech pattern and, so far, I don’t have any clear answers.) My question: Why do you often say *thee* for “the”... and *aye* for “a”? To my knowledge, there are very limited circumstances in which those pronunciations would be correct (i.e., most often related to the first letter of the word that follows the article)... and most of the time they're not. To my ears, these sounds very unnatural -- I have doubts you or anyone would use these pronunciations in everyday conversation, for example. I remember my father doing this, when I was a kid, while he was pretending to be a newscaster or a high-ranking military officer. My only guess, at this point, is that there is a belief that these pronunciations make the speaker sound more formal or educated. I am interested in hearing from those who use this speech pattern, however, and would appreciate any light you could shed on this.

@Andek74
@Andek74 Жыл бұрын
Hari in his prime was definitely one of the top kickboxers, very skilled, aggressive and powerful, but to call him GOAT as some people here say, is way exaggerated. All the big four of Dutch K-1 are above him in this category - Hoost, Aerts, Schilt and Bonjasky. These guys were consistent top for years and able to win the most important K-1 titles repeatedly. Most importantly, they had their heads in place and handled emotions much better than Badr, which combined with excellent skills, endurance and power led them to the highest achievements. There are other few I would rate equally high or maybe higher than Hari, in their prime respectively - Le Banner, Cro Cop, Hunt, Sefo, Hug, Ignashov.

another fighter that get's the physics of power. velocity and linking. linking allows you to increase the mass of your strike by linking your joints from the hand to the elbow to the shoulder to the torso to the hips to the legs and the ground. velocity provides the amplification of that linkage and mass to be delivered on target. physics!
@bontempo1271
@bontempo1271 Жыл бұрын
If we were floating in the air, we wouldn't be able to hit very hard. So that's why i reckon we are using our body like a rubber band, getting tension by pushing our feet into the floor, then using the rotational torque from our hip/torso. And you want to allow that torque generated to flow through your kinetic chain (like you described) as swiftly and uninterupted as possible. That's why get technique first, then speed, then body mass (without sacrificing the first two). What do you reckon ?
@truescotsman4103
@truescotsman4103 Жыл бұрын
@@bontempo1271 its a combination of linking mass of the legs to the torso to the shoulders the the arms and adding as much velocity to the punch as you can. look at ballistics. for a projectile of a given weight, the amount of energy put on target has only to do with velocity that's all. so if you increase the mass of your fist by linking it to your whole body with tension and timing you add speed and you're there. some boxers just have this by instinct and some learn by training and elevate it to a high artform.
@bontempo1271
@bontempo1271 Жыл бұрын
@@truescotsman4103 hmm, whatabout remaining loose and then tensing on moment of impact ? So, we are emulating a ball and chain in a way. I first learn to punch hard when i was taught how to throw a tennis ball really far. Like, a javelin thrower can punch really hard. Is that the correct motion you think ? I noticied a video of a skinny guy vs a bodybuilder punching. The skinny guy was punching far hrder, and he looked like he was almost pitching a basebell, whereas the bodybuilding was losing energy from torso to shoulder, so resulted in something like arm punching.

Peter Graham had a point in that press conference tho. There's so many people who worked hard to get K1 or Kickboxing on the map where it is today. And here comes a young fighter who won a few bouts with the greatest disrespect ever. Not just with Peter, but also quite some other fights as well. The unsportsmanlike against the polish in the first press conference. The guy said looking up to Badr all his carreer and being pushed like that. The trash talk towards rico. The rioting maroccan fans at the last bout after he engaged them. That legacy is done my friend. He only there for the money. the true passion to fight left the building with badr. He knows it.

Not hearing the opponents names was distracting to me. "The Polish is knocked down! But the Polish got up again!" What? Are the names hard to pronounce or something? It comes across like a script reader who has only a passing interest in the subject. Good broadcast voice, though, truly. Anyway, it's great to see a video of the great Moroccan-Dutch fighter! Not enough attention given to legendary fighters like this Moroccan-Dutchman. Any video bringing attention to this Dutchman from Morocco gets a like from me.
