It's been a few months since I started this project and I wanted to share my results. I went from a Bee Cool stock 750w Eiwol motor to the Bafang 1000w rear hub system. There's good and bad so check it out!
*** Still experimenting with torque arms and I'll follow up on which worked the best for this particular bike set up.

hey mate, it sounds like you might want a mid drive, like a Bafang BBSHD 1000w. They have it in fat bike sizes that fit bottom bracket shells of 100mm and 120mm. Hub motors are not as good for climbing

That'd be my CSC 1000w Bafang mid-drive. Did a review and some hill climbing videos on it. It's a billy goat for sure! It does drain the battery pretty quick is the only downside. I also have two with dual hub which is more fun than the mid-drive on the hills.

I have the thousand watt bafang kit on a Mongoose Juneau, climbs really well, I believe there are two versions of that motor, mine is the 6.5, that's the one that has more torque, there's another one I forget the number, that one is for higher speeds usually for a 20in tire. Mine will do 31mph with a 52v and 29 with a 48v,

Mine supposedly has 85Nm of torque and the consensus is the newer overheating program in the motor and controller is what's reducing my wattage when climbing although it doesn't seem to be heating up at all. Had a buddy try it the other night and he was all pumped to get to 33mph, albeit on flat ground. Thanks for the info!!

@@johnnysezebike1319 I've always thought those numbers don't meant anything, if they really put out 85 Newton metres of torque they would need a wheelie bar, and would takea Honda Civic off the line. I also have a 500w Speedrid 26in, it was one of the cheapest e bikes on Amazon, only 500w and 72nm on paper, but with just a better 48v than the one it came with it peaked at 1040 w seem like no matter how many watts you put to it, it only going to do 26mph but when it comes to straight-up climate especially in the woods climbed better than any other hub motor I've ever seen. The pedal assist works off of speed instead of power though, so it will go all in on pedal assist one trying to make it to 13 mph, my bafang won't do that, like you said it'll give you more power under strain but only to a certain point, think it's a safety thing, it holds back, with the Speedred I had to cut off the motor wire connectors and solder them because they were getting so hot that they were melting the rubber coating, for some reason came with the old school RC car motor wires. You should get one of those I think they're called phase runner controllers, I've heard of people putting 3500 watts to those thousand watt bafang motors with no problem. So the moral of the story is we're all in the experimental phase of the game.

Excellent points! I notice alot of the numbers aren't what they appear to be. I am actually ordering a Phase Runner to see what it can do with various motors. Friend has one although it did heat up on one of my mountain rides. Either way, should be fun experimenting! Thanks! @@bassw1758

It seems like you got the “06” version which is wound for a bit more top speed and less torque, you can check the numbers on the motor it should say G062 1000 DC 06 or 6.5. The 6.5 would be more suited to your ride style. I think the Bafang made 30 amp controller is the issue triggering the overheat cut off it’s programmed to be too sensitive. A KT controller may allow the system to push amperage out for much longer periods, my favorite builds are the G062 motor with a 35 amp KT controller.

@@gregorygreg1135yeah differently, the Bafang controller goes into a safety mode after riding it hard for a little bit. It'll only pull about 600 watts, top speed goes from 31mph to about 24.

Not easy finding a fat front tire motorized wheel conversion kit. They all seem to be rear wheel only.

There's a few out there that I found. Here's Ebikeling with 1200w direct drive so it only has 30Nm of torque on front forks. a.co/d/cMR7Hmi Getting a geared one is much harder and they are out there since several companies offer them such as Ecell which is the ultimate dual motor bike imho.
