The Bajaj Dominar 400 wants to be a sport-touring motorcycle. But Bajaj believes that the 373cc engine and the performance is too much for a lot of buyers who end up buying smaller bikes instead. It’s for those people that it has created the Dominar 250, a motorcycle that takes the Dominar 400 frame, more or less, and adds in the engine from the wonderful KTM 250 Duke, more or less. More? Or Less? Shumi took the new Bajaj Dominar 250 out for a spin to find out!

Got Dominar 250 a week back. Very happy with the motor cycle. Its comfortable and smooth. Gives a mileage of 39.4 when riding below 70 kmph even before the 1st service. Its just a little heavy which is good for the highways and there is a slight 'tick' sound while changing gears but it should vanish after the first or second service.

Awesome review! And Shumi sir, you inspire me in many ways, right from studying and observing bikes to talking about them without much drama so that each and everyone understands what the bike's all about! I wanted something similar to D400 but with a bit smaller heart is in my list. Then this steps in, although not available at showrooms near me, but thats where Powerdrift helps. Explaining each and every bit of motorcycle!! Great video!

a proud dominar400 owner since 2018❤️ although i believe that bringing down the dominar to 250 segment isn't really justified, they should have rather upgraded pulsar to 250 and let dominar be in the elusive 400 segment

@@shu_mar Why does Bajaj make heavier bikes? This has been the case since 2001, when the Pulsar launched! It's direct competitor - the legendary CBZ - was very, very balanced and weighed about 12-13 kgs less, if I am not mistaken.

Bought the Dominar 250 a month back. The kerb weight for city rides and while riding in small lanes can be felt. Apart from that its a superb bike in that range.

The video was amazing. Happy to see u guys back after long period of covid. Congratulations 😁😁😁😄😄. Well the dominar 250 is very good option who wants a accessible touring bike that can be used also as a city bike .to be fair its a good product from bajaj. I think the new dominar 250 sites between the gixxer and duke 250.its comfortable, easy to ride, has decent performance and milage as well. Although i wish that the 250 could have been came with wider tyres especially the rear, chrome finished wheels, and that similar looking instrument cluster. But what i think that bajaj hasn't add this things because of keeping cost in check .

Im a first time buyer updating from a commuter bike. I don't have experience in riding a high cc bike or high body weight bike (Royal Enfield). Will it be aggressive in lower speeds? My usage is daily commuting(city traffic) and comfortable riding (upright position, knee pain free riding) and also for family use(pillion comfort). I'm a big enough but afraid of the body weight. Will lower speed be comfortable in city traffic like turning radius, waiting for the signal in heavy crowd? Parking the vehicle. What if the bike stops?

yes I think you’ll be fine. Also check out the Yamaha FZ25 and the Gixxer 250 before you decide. All three are in the same price range. All three are nice bikes.

Can you(PD) please add an ownership review for D250? My only concern is the body weight and performance in heavy city traffics.

Either 400 or nothing. Dominar 400 was a sleeper performance bike and absolute VFM. 250 could have been labelled Pulsar 250 and no one would have minded.

I thought d250 was around 1.8 on road Few people got it for 2.11 which is absolutely scrap. Or it is dealer who is cheating.

Dominar 400 is basically a cheaper heavier slower d390. Dominar 250 is a cheaper d250. Bajaj has done a good job at marketing the two brands very differently but in the end they are all more or less same.

The situation is not getting any better as there are a lot of new riders and bicyclists on the road these days who don't understand how traffic rules work. Both will do that easily. NS200 might be nicer to ride. But you should take a test ride and decide on the one you like more

Great one...feel refreshed after watching it ...I think the dominar fits well in the budget segment and this engine could go well with the NS 200 as well. Do you guys plan to make anything with the Huskies anytime soon?

My 250 is about a week old. I took it on a long ride yesterday happened to hit a pot-hole, heard a cracking sound but the bike kept going. After around 40kms I stopped for a break and noticed oil all over my front boot and the bike. I took it to the showroom (another 60kms away). They said it could be a faulty USD. I'm NOT impressed after "forking" 2.05L for the machine. Any input would be appreciated.

Sorry to hear it man. S**t happens. It’s not easy to hear but it’s not always the equipment that’s faulty. But yes if you hit a pothole hard enough, especially on the brakes, you can generate enough force to break the seal or crack a rim on almost any machine. For your sake I’m hoping they find a problem in the forks but it’s not always the equipment.

@@shu_mar ,quick update. So they decided to replace the entire unit after I explained the situation to them. Nice of Khivraj Bajaj, Bangalore to be more alert to the customer's needs and wants. I got it done yesterday. No complaints. :)

Never go for bajaj bikes. Dont settle for cheap. Ive made a mistake buying RS200 settling for the price and now realising should have gone with KTM's.

I own a RS from last 3 years & i own a Dominar400 UG as well.. I would still pick the RS if i have to go to hills.. its a much more enjoyable bike.. flicks easily.. corners hard & screams like an eagle Reliability depends on how you treat it.. Have done leh ladakh on Mine & it has never dissapointed till date.

Like the Review; Schumi and PD doing what they do best even during these tiring times. I was intrigued by the HANS type device which Schumi had around his neck for a good portion of the video though! Not able to figure out why it’s used for! Anyone want to enlighten me?

It’s a neck brace. Protects neck, clavicle and spine in a crash. Google Leatt STX Road neck brace
