You taught me more about baking than I'd ever known in my 65 years. You made it fun, relatable, and relaxing. You instilled courage to fail, if necessary, in order to learn. I kept coming back, and you became my favorite baker. I will continue to watch the shorts while wishing you all you deserve and more. Sounds like adventure is straight ahead. Best wishes, Jack!

Hi Jack, I never leave comments but this I think is important. I'm a 71 year young, retired RN, from California. At the start of the pandemic I saw massive hoarding, flour, yeast, topped the list. I NEVER BAKED BREAD, I knew a little about "fermented" yeast. I turned to KZfaq and found your channel. You were and are a delight. I make beautiful sourdough bread because of your channel and charm. If you're allowed to replay those earlier shows new viewers would find them helpful. Best wishes from a forever fan. ❤

Bake with Jack is one of the KZfaq channels I switch on religiously. Your philosophy of baking , your approach to bakers who have not yet acquired the confidence they need to understand how forgiving bread making really is; your approach to folk who are unsure whether their approaches to baking bread is right or wrong, makes your videos so good. And here's the thing: psychologists discovered decades ago that when one gets paid for doing what you enjoy, most if not all the pleasure and enjoyment from that activity goes out the door. Sounds to me that ending the limited liability company may give you back the joy you got from your craft.

Jack, I always wanted to make sourdough bread and then a friend of mine gave me a starter. I found you online during the pandemic. I love your attitude, the freedom you gave me to try it and the courage to make it happen. I couldn’t quite follow your pattern of water and it was very runny for the longest time. My bread was flat and hard but I still loved it. I kept making it that way until I went out on my own and just made bread like I used to make yeast bread. I realize the texture is what counts. I now make bread once a week, and not worry about throwing away anything that I’m not going to use. Baking every day is ridiculous. We can’t eat that much bread anyway. I have become inventive and put different things in my bread that everyone loves. It’s rising well I just have a great time. Believe me Jack. You are responsible. Thank you so much for bringing sourdough into my life. It’s part of the fulfilling part that I enjoy so much. I am American and I have a hard time understanding your accent but I wish you luck in whatever you want to do. The best of everything for you Jack. You deserve it!

Jack! Do what you must! I’ve been freeloading along since near the beginning of the KZfaq channel. You brought back to life my interest in baking and cured the problem I ran into with sourdough. I suggested you write a book. You wrote it. I bought it. I can’t rationalize involvement in the club…very old guy, limited income….but wish you and its members the best. There’s a wealth of material in your video back catalog, assuming you leave them up. And the cheeky chap producing everything via his phone in his home kitchen remains the golden era of the series. Hate to see you join the exodus of more and more long-time KZfaq types who feel they’ve worn it out (or it’s worn them out), but it is a logical development. Evolve or die. Better that you evolve. That is you, personally, Jack. You’re a gem. Thank you.

Jack! Hang in there, dude. Not only have you taught me THE PRINCIPLES of bread-baking, but I think you just taught me an important life lesson: It's OK to keep trying to do the right thing - even if you aren't sure you know what you're doing. The important thing is to TRY. (And write it down, of course.) I LOVE that! I'm going through the same thing with my business (which is why I'm watching BWJ in the middle of my business day in California!). I think you just re-adjusted my head. Thank you! You are getting wiser. That is always a good thing. I went through the same thing when first opening a medical office. It quickly became clear that I did not own it. Jack, I found your KZfaq channel during COVID when I started baking sourdough like everyone else. Your sourdough episode was eye opening and gave me a better understanding on what to do or look for than any other ones I found. I’m still using your ratio to this day. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us. Whatever you decide to do, I hope you’ll be able to rediscover your passion and connect that with your love for people with like minds. Lots of love from Australia.

Just did my little part of helping to empty the warehouse! And there wasn't much left so I'm glad I got what I did. I'm glad you are taking charge of what makes you and your family happy. Figuring it out and moving forward is key. You have been a huge help to a lot of people who were lost and confused during Covid, and some of us still are. It's true that the world has changed. But I think it's changed for the better. People realized what matters and what doesn't, and you my friend, matter. Much Love ❤

Jack you are a seriously gifted teacher. You have taught us much more than how to make a loaf of bread. You have taught us to love the process and celebrate the result. You have also taught us through example how to have humility, openness, honesty, and the courage to change course when it’s necessary. I watch Your videos with my 10 year old grandson at bed time when not much else soothes him. He loves you and was concerned for you when he could feel that you weren’t happy. I’ll head to the online shop and get him the Bake with Jack dough scraper he has been asking for, he loves the sound of it on the wooden board. 😊. (Perth, Australia)

I was devastated seeing the 'closing down' - I've only just found "Bake with Jack" - my sister recommended you! I have found your style informative, entertaining and practical! And most of all thanks to you I have been making successful loaves of sourdough bread - and my family and I are really enjoying eating it! I was really relieved you are keeping doing your KZfaqs YOUR way - and getting your mojo back - and you are still going to be doing the shorts! :) Thanks for all your efforts - I am, as are other New Zealanders who subscribe to your KZfaq .....grateful! :) Look forward to new beginnings!

Sounds like classic burnout Jack. Of course we don't know what you are experiencing IRL or as a business. We just want CONTENT!!!! 🙂 Remember, as long as your YT vids remain online, they will be your legacy. Not to mention becoming a published author! You helped so many of us weather the storms of the global pandemic. Never forget that! The result for me was becoming a legit micro baker that feeds his local community. Cheers to your future Jack!

Hi Jack, I know we're all faceless and basically nameless people popping up in your video comments but I just came here to say a couple of things (and hope that you're reading these!). Just this weekend I made your Rosemary and Sea Salt Focaccia and it was amazing. I then sat with your book for the hundredth time to bookmark the next recipes I want to try. I made it a whole thing on Saturday afternoon - blanket, cup of tea etc! Whilst I was doing that it dawned on me that your book is one of the best cookbooks I own (and I've owned a lot over the years). There's nothing better than being so spoiled for choice of what to make next and being excited to try all the recipes at once. I'm so sad I even made a spreadsheet of what's on my bread-making bucket list of 2024 and every single recipe is yours. Your doughnuts are next on the agenda if you were wondering! I've had some trials making your recipes for sure, but you always manage our expectations and I go into the next one with more experience. Your candour, humour and authenticity shine through in both your book and videos. I'm a better bread maker because you've made something that seemed initially quite complicated and a bit scary very accessible. I just want you to know you've made a very positive difference to a lot of people, even if your heart wasn't fully in it. I'm looking forward to what you do next (please say another book at the very least!). I hope you find what makes you feel joyful again. The 'old' you is never far once you get back on the right track. In the meantime, best of luck with shed loads of paperwork and please pray for my waistline as I ambitiously try to complete your book this year :-D.

Jack! You are one of the loveliest, most genuinely authentic people on YT and I’m so sorry you’ve been through it. Thank you for all the smiles you raised (the blackboard 😂) and reassurances made (over-proofed bread really CAN be rescued!!). Your book is one of my favourites - every recipe exceeds expectation and your dough scrapers / peels and proofing cloths are superb!!!! I’m sure I speak for the many when I say you’ll be greatly missed and we’ll all be waiting for your metamorphosis - when you’re good and ready. Take care. Don’t stop being you - and never stop being true to who you are! xxx

You gave me purpose in the first lockdown Jack, i even killed my oven using all that steam for sourdough every day😂. My starters (Bert, Ernie Eric and Lady A) are still dormant in my freezer ready to go if i ever get the time to make sourdough again. Your yeasted loaf, brioche and burger buns are a regular make at home, and I've recommended your channel to everyone that wants to learn the method of good bread making. God bless you and THANK YOU for everything.

Thanks for everything you’ve given on KZfaq. Do what is right for you. My connection and how I found my way here, I casually made okay bread. I lost my job and was unemployed for 8 months. It was mentally draining searching, applying, interviewing, and not getting picked on repeat. Your channel, bread philosophy, and teaching helps me through a really rough time. I have a job now, but my relationship with baking, food, and bread is different now. Thank you for the lifetime hobby and delicious recipes!

You ARE a person, always have been to me. You taught me how to make a sourdough that is revered by everyone I know. People ask me to make it for them and ask me to show them how I do it. Can you imagine what I do? I direct them to your Sourdough 101 video and suggest they have the computer on the counter, pausing it between steps, while they are learning. I also give them my number and I do what I can to help, but it has always been you. Hope your mental health, mentality, drive, inspiration returns asap. Maybe remake basic videos, your sourdough recipe has changed a bit since I first found you, so make the video again with all the new "bits and bobs"? (the inverted baking sheet on the top rack, turning the oven off and letting the dough sit for 8 minutes before turning it back on, etc...) Anyway, Thank You for all of your effort!
