Years later i just now realized that the evolution is a metaphor for the characters having to face their struggles for them to evolve as characters.

In my personal opinion, this is one of my favourite episodes. It perfectly encapsulates Shun's character and his relationship with Skyress and his mother. The fact that the sun never sets (at least in the beginning) reflects Shun's initial reluctance to move on and accept his mother's demise (remember that episode Bakugan Stall?). He's just a lonely kid who doesn't want to let go of his mum, and that's partly what makes his relationship to Skyress so important -- not sure if you guys have noticed, but they have a mother-son relationship, which is especially strengthened by the fact that Skyress was given to Shun by his own mum. Shun's ability to finally accept the harsh reality -- that he NEEDS his friends and that he NEEDS to finally move on -- is manifested by the setting sun; a truly beautiful metaphor. As Skyress said, "we're moving into the future!"

I love how Shun is the only Brawler who had a non-guardian Bakugan win a brawl in one of their tests, because all the other brawlers needed their Guardian Bakugan to win all three brawls, it just goes to show how skilled he is.

watching this 5 years later and i still feel bad for Shun,he lost his mother,his Father was never around and he was Raised by his Grumpy Ninja Grandpa and seeing him in this episode makes my heart ache for him

aw shuns mom as a little girl is cute well actually more like freaking adorable

This episode had a lot of good character development for Shun, at least I think so. It not only taught him it's ok to rely and put his trust in others but to also that he must keep moving forward with his life.

Shun is my favorite character in Bakugan, and this is my favorite Episode, along with the test, this is very interesting. All the tests have someone important battling the brawlers, but Shun has it the hardest, battling his Younger and Late Mother.
