GW seem do be establishing a main character for each faction (guilliman for space marines, ghazkull for orks, silent King for crons) and I guess he's ours so it would be nice for him to be a bit cooler

The Chaos Gods are fully aware of how dangerous the Tyranids are to them, especially because the Shadow in the Warp is perhaps the only thing in the setting that can permanently 'kill' a Warp Entity, even a chaos god if enough of the galaxy is subject to the Shadow, by causing its identity and individuality to be lost as the tempestuous Sea of Souls is becalmed by the Swarm's relentless influence. The threat is clear, but there is little the Ruinous Powers can do about it, since none of their normal tricks work. They cannot tempt or corrupt the Tyranids, since there is nothing they can offer them. Power, glory, immortality, sensation - none of these things hold any appeal to the bioforms of the Swarm. They cannot be bribed, bought, intimidated, manipulated or seduced - each Tyranid, from the smallest spore form up to the greatest bioship, is held in the common bond of the Hive Mind, and those Tyrnaids that are individually intelligent enough to even comprehend an offer from the Powers already possess total and absolute fulfilment of their purpose in existing by serving the interest of the Swarm. They are quite literally incapable of desiring anything else. So with corruption off the table, the Powers have to resort to trying to destroy the Tyrnaids by brute force, but that isn't going well for them. The Tyranids have been doing this whole intergalactic warfare things for a while, and are very good at it. Mortal servants of the Powers that aren't overly corrupted are just that much more biomass for the Swarm to devour, and those that are too rank with Warp corruption can still just be annihilated to clear the way for the Swarm to reach new feeding grounds. Daemons can't be consumed, but the Tyranids have already developed a specialised Hive Fleet created for the express purpose of banishing daemon armies and stitching reality back together to preserve the Swarm's hunting grounds in Hive Fleet Kronus, and by all accounts it is very, very good at its job. The Chaos Gods are sticking at it, but they no more possess a simple, silver bullet solution to the Tyranid threat than the Imperium does, and to the Tyranids the Powers not frightening or the least bit intimidating, but instead are no more than another obstacle to the consumption of the biomass of the Milky Way Galaxy, one the Swarm intends to remove by the most efficient means possible.

​@Cian Abroad If he can do it, his every tactic appears to work only once, just like other biological attacks against the Tyranids that work once and once only. He got one Cult, and then that trick never worked again despite the fact that the Genestealer Cults are not pure Tyranid biology, and in the lore he hates Tyranids because they can thwart his 'gifts', becoming immune to even his greatest magical plagues with impossible speed. Nurgle is in no better position that Khorne, Tzzentch or Slaanesh on the bug front.

@@ObliviouslyAware Still too localised nano swarms are perfect cause they eat and replicate, even more primal than Tyranids in its singular purpose though you do run a risk of them going rouge and no longer responding to shut down comand, delay neuro-virus that target nervous system would be a better option but than again Tyranids are masters of biological manipualtion so noit full proof.

@@ObliviouslyAware Tyranids travel through open deep space in ships with no radiation shielding whatsoever, constantly exposed to cosmic radiation sources of incredible intensity. By some unknown means, their biology is clearly massively - and I do mean massively - resistant to all forms of hard radiation. I doubt a Neutron Warhead would even have enough radiation output to kill most of them, and even if it did it would work precisely once before the Swarm adapted to it. There are no silver bullet super weapins that can stop the Swarm, it is a core part of their faction lore.

@@nobodyfromnowhere3597 That is the problem - whatever bio-weapon you could make to target the Swarm, their biotechnology and adaptability is always going to trump whatever your bio-science can do. The Tyranids have developed immunity to even the Life Eater Virus, and one of the reason Nurgle hates the Swarm so much is that they can develop immunity to even his legitimately supernatural plagues impossibly quickly. If even magical diseases can't stop them, it seems doubtful than any biological weapon could. Worst of all, the Tyranids operate a waste not, want not policy when it comes to bio-weapons. If you create a sufficiently nasty bio-weapon and use it against them, they will take it, devour it, and re-purpose it for the own fleets, unleashing your own bio-weapon - usually modified and augmented to be far deadlier that your original strain ever was - back against your own forces. Imagine a delayed action virus that infects your soldiers with an undetectable germ of Genestealer DNA that only manifests as infestation months, years, or even decades later? How many worlds might ultimately be doomed by what appeared at the time to be a victory, once the surviving soldiers and civilian refugees had disseminated themselves across the Imperium?
