I worked permanent nights for over 10 yrs in a low secure PICU unit as part of a mental health nursing team and these burgers where a go to for many of us when you managed to get a break on a 12 hr shift. I realise there not for everyone but they do the job to sustain you and I guess I still have a fondness for then even now as I ate them regularly 👍

You might like to try Rustler's BBQ pork rib sandwich. It's not a masterpiece, but it's the closest thing to a McRib you'll find this side of the Atlantic.

Years ago I rented a house with a few guys one of the guys brothers when he came over Rustlers burgers seemed to be the only thing he ate so you doing a review brings back some memories.

You can make a really good Rustlers burger if you add your own lettice, tomatoes and chilli sauce 😋

Here in Scotland they are only £1.00/ £1.50 each in our FARMFOODS shop,very convenient and tasty.

They are alright for what they are, if you are at work it makes a change from a sandwich.

No animals were harmed in the making of that burger

And why not! We all like what we like and they do serve a purpose!

I toast the buns in a frying pan with with a tiny rub off oil toast the insides off those put aside...they I gently fry the rustles patte in the pan, chop some raw onion salad tomato then rebuild burger...makes world difference and probably cost less than microwave I mean you only need gas on lowest setting for a couple mins...cheers big ears

Anyone ever tried Hellman's Chunky Burger Sauce? It's seriously good. Like the sauce you get in a Big Mac. We love it.

You cannot fault the price for the burger, I would ditch the sauce myself and put tomato sauce on myself, these burgers were the throwback to the 80s and they did us no harm .

I add a (supermarket)quarter pounder burger 🍔 to my rustler.add an extra cheese. It’s other lever after a few beverages.

I used to like the chicken ones. I haven't had one in years. You used to stick it all in the microwave when I bought them. I'll have to remember next time I'm shopping to get a couple, they are handy for supper

I have to be honest. I would rather get a Rustlers burger than a MacDs. Toast the bun, then add lettuce, onion and tomato to finish it off. YUM 😀

You are not alone in buttering the bun, I've been doing that since they came out otherwise the bun can be dry.

If I have of these type burgers I always cook it on a griddle, add a different type of sliced cheese, cheddar or Monterey Jack, some crispy bacon, toast the bun, but don’t put butter on, add salad and mayo and chilli sauce a jalapeño’s, turns it into a proper burger.

I take these to work when I'm on nights Gareth.Quick and not bad.

There’s a real snobbishness around Rustlers which isn’t applied to overpriced fast food places. They taste lovely, don’t care.

Rustlers are good and top notch when garnished to your personal taste

Garlic mayo and mustard would be a good idea

The only such products I find edible are the "pork ribs", particularly the Aldi one.

Music to my ears when the bun goes in a toaster and butter is extra flavour at home whipping it up for a tasty snack make the most of it

I wish they would spend some time developing the burger further so it's tastes more like a regular fried/grilled burger. Maybe they are. They ain't bad for the price but could be better.

There are times to butter bread and times not to... Burgers and for dipping in soup is a no butter thing.

Love these reviews but I genuinely heaved when the butter went on the bun, insane.

I'm surprised there is no slice of cheese in there. I get Morrisons mature cheese slices in a 10-slice pack. Current price is £1.20, so I would spend 12 pence and add a slice to that burger.

I like the Rustlers burgers but I always fry up a bit of onion and chuck a couple of cheese slices on and tip rather than doing the burger in the microwave warm it up in the frying pan when your doing the onions, ok takes a bit longer but really tasty

Like you said Gareth you have the basics make your own burger that isn't going to break the bank. Tonight's we tried the Sainsbury's belly pork bites with BBQ sauce absolutely gorgeous I can see why you enjoyed them so much👍

I can’t eat sandwiches in any form without butter on them - or at least margarine - most people have done me sandwiches over the years with either no or very little butter and have not permitted me to do them myself and refused to do it any way other than the way they do it! I live on my own now, so I get what I want, the way I want it!

used to eat a lot of rustlers back in the day but i find they have changed in taste so hardly get them anymore

Never had one of those, but I will say that I personally would never put butter on my burger bun. I would rather have the ketchup and mustard, or bbq sauce or burger sauce....whatever you fancy, with onions and a slice of cheese. Everyone has their burger their way, it's just my preference. That kerrygold butter you bought Gareth, looked like the full 250g pack, they've stopped doing that in my local shop and instead have the miserly 200g version! I do love kerrygold, it's the best butter imo! 😋👍🏻

I have been doing them wrong never toasted or buttered the bun .

You must have an extra large toaster, the buns never fit in any that I've used. And I've stopped eating burgers for the very reason you've said, the patti can contain anything from the cow. 🤮

I cannot stand to see any sandwich or burger without butter on the bread. To my mind, it is sacrilege.

You should try Aldi's Roosters salt and pepper chicken balls.
