The origin of the name Baldock is Baghdad. The Knights Templer built this market town in 1148 and named after the great city of Baghdad. Check it out

Hi Tony, glad you liked my little video of Baldock. Have a look at the Hitchin video as that is near letchworth where your sister you to live. Thanks for watching. Andy

My sister is moving there from Letchworth, I live on the West Coast of the US, so it was great to "walk around" with you and see where she's going to be living, in fact I think you walked past the top of her road! Thanks!

There use to be more pubs here than now a days, Baldock has alot of history with dick Turpin, Romans, etc. St Mary's Church is lovely. The George used to be called George n dragon pub, Chapmans butchers always busy with queues out the door n down the Rd. Zeus is now a shelter for homeless. Boot pub has gone now, if u follow Rd out towards stevenage there is another pub called George 4th. I lived in Baldock all my 47 yrs and things have change so much.

Hi Harrison, thanks for watching, it’s surprising what you see when you walk through. Baldock has a 505 bypass now so it’s easy to miss it.

Used to be thirty pubs at one time in Baldock

Didn’t know that about the amount of pubs that used to be there.

@@andrewwardmedia I am going back a few years to the seventy's and beyond. Apparently there was a cinema in Whitehorse street set back behind the post office somewhere.
@lisam63 Жыл бұрын
@@jamesmcbride6304 the cinema was the Astonia and was on the corner of the high street and South road. It was demolished many years ago (late 70’s or early 80’s if I recall correctly) and the doctors surgery now sits in its place. That’s why the surgery is called Astonia House ☺️
