You can get both. The only route devs want locked is getting both Minthara and Halsin. Recruit Karlach first and don't interfere with grove quest and move on to Act2. Then, you are be able to recruit Minthara at Moonrise. She is being punished for failing her mission and you can rescue her.

No the emporer dying is a better outcome to protect the leagacy of a hero and put an end to a monster that is a threat to society who will minipulate and control everyone in order to get what it wants. It has no soul and everything it does in the game was in an attempt to minipulate you to ensure its own survival

I heve to decide between free or kill Orpheo recently in my playtrhought. Very hard decision. I decided to trust The Emperor, because during my game, yes he was manipulative but something makes me feel sympathy for him. He trust you a bit as well, so i though he deserves a change, even a mindflyer. In my character lore, she values loyalty, but she is also a rogue drow so manipulation is just a normal tool for her. I am wishing that when i arrived the camp after the battle i could convinced Lae zel that it was what we had to do and dont need to kill her.

Also when you arrived where all your allies are waiting, Whiters is nice to see The Emperor, and narrator says something about what all would think if they know who he really is and that he seems to be happy to be fighting for the city. Maybe a bit of Balduran is still inside him

@@clavedegato9263hate to break it to your character fell for the emporers manipulation. He never really trusts you and almost every word that comes out of his mouth is a half truth or some form of manipulation to get you on his side. He also does not even want a chance at redemption wich you can find out if you fight ansur the dragon, and even when he tries to flirt with you and romances you he was lying. He was only doing it to further gain your trust as one, minflayers can't feel emotions so he doesn't actually love you and will imeaditly drop it if you say your not interested, and 2ndly mindflayers dont have any erogonus tissue and again, don't have emotions, so he didn't actually get anything from that romance scene and it was purely a ruse to trick you further and make you feel empathetic to him. Everything his does is to make you have empathg twards him and think he is more human then he is. Also you doom the githyankis entire species if you don't free orpheas

I let Karlach turn squid. It was sad but felt really in character for her and its not like she has a good ending. Hopefully her soul went somewhere nice when she turned. (Squiddos have no souls because cerebromorphosis causes the host's soul to go to the afterlife.) Bonus points, tho, Lae'zel didn't dump Tav and with the prince also alive she also didn't become an outcast. Its the pure Gith ending. Oddly romantic if you've been in love with her since she decided to beat you up and claim you as hers. And I for one think its as close to a "good" ending as this game gets since not only do you fix the Absolute but punch Vlaakith's face in and if you also cause troubles for Raphael and end Cazador you basically clear up every major threat to Faerun in one go and the only sacrifice is the one character who was doomed from the start.

Karlach on the orherhand is dead and probably going back to hell anyway because of her tie to zerial. But if wyll vecome the blade of avernus or your dating karlach then she gets to live in hell free from zerial has a safe heaven in tge house of hope and with the added help might one day take down zerial as it is possible she just needs to grind like 2 or 3 more levels

all I'm saying is I bust my ass to save a bunch of damned gondians from a prison at the bottom of the ocean. gondians who's relatives were making infernal engines that could operate in the material plane.

Would be nice, but making DLC for a game like this would be a nightmare. You basically would have people who decided to work for the "paladins" or Wyll in act 1 and kill Karlach not have any kind of reference for what is going on

There is a combined Wyll Karlach ending where to two go to Avernus together so Karlach can live and Wyll to protect her from Zariel.

I'm Sorry, I too Hope that Karlach will get better ending!!!

There is a happy ending for her, in my play through I romanced her and you have the option to convince her to return to Avernus, I was also a Tiefling so it might also need that. However you might need to travel to the house of hope and defeat Raphael for that outcome. It however might cut off all other interactions after that. I know it happened in mine. But I don't know what specifically needs to happen for it, you need to at least go to Dammon twice with Infernal Iron, you can find him in Baldur's Gate North of the Lower Central City Portal or East of the Devil's Fee at the blacksmith shop called Forge of the Nine or something like that.

There is also an option to have Karlach become a mind player, if you free Orpheus he reveals someone needs to become one and she volunteers. She gets to live but as a tentacle monster and she's surprisingly fine with that.

@@4lackofbetter she doesn't live, thats like an alien bursting out of her chest and you call it Karlach. Mindflayer is the worse ending because she loses her soul, so no afterlife for her, also her personality and stuff will be gone after a while, it's just not Karlach anymore.

The evil ending specifically is where you take over the netherbrain and by extension over the world. You get to see your companions all squirming for a moment before becoming mind controlled by Tav and then Tav saying "In my name" after sitting on a throne atop the netherbrain@@metalsadman

Yeah you can't get to Shar temple from the underdark, you are sent there to find Balthazar. And that quest is mandatory to advance the plot so you can't miss it.

It feel like the ending is unfinished. Maybe they wanted to do more (fragments of game data suggest that) but did not have enough time close to release. I had fully heroic good ending and did romance with shadowheart including freeing her parents and she did not even appear in the end sequence.

Not sure, I had Orpheus straight up die in the final battle but he still had his ending where he and Lae'zel fly off to take down the false queen.

I ran into this issue as well. I romanced her and sent Karlach to Avernus with Wyll and that apparently bugs out the last cutscene with your romanced companion. If you have a save you can reload and let Karlach die and it should play out normally.

Its a bug, there are certain conditions when it doesnt show no matter who you romance. For example if you make karlach into illithid this scene is guaranteed to show. Definitely this will be fixed

It is grim either way for her :( Update: I have been informed by many people there are more variants to her ending since my original reply. Such as going with her to the hells, having Wyll go if you completed all his quest stuff as well.

At the moment none has find the way to make her stay in this world, but I hope that there is something...

@@MartinSilver there is option in Karlach origin playthrough that she solo leaves back to hell, and option if you play as tiefling at the end she starts burning and you can tell her that you can leave with her to hell.

Astarion is now vampire ascendant by killing Cazador and taking 7k souls of vampires, this makes him new danger for world and gives immunity to sun, Shadowheart if you have enough approval, when she will wane kill Night song you can tell her not to do it, in Act3 you will be able to find her parents.. Gale is power hungry in act 3 you can visit mage tower and find a book how to reforge crown that elder brain has, he wants to leave it for himself, but than suddenly mistra calls him to visit her at this point you either can ignore or visit she will offer a cure for him if he brings crown to her. i didn't get bonus cinematic i guess only if you play gale origin...

This makes me hate him, and because of that I always betray him and save Orpheus....

Because he completed his story by finishing the Cazador ritual and promoting Astarion to Vampire Lord, making him immune to the sun , bloodlust, etc.

Yes you can. Basically when Minthara asks about where is Karalch, you get a cutscene of a monologue with you choosing what to do next. Either burn on the docks by saying goodbye to the sun and the sea(sad ending) or run back to Avernus (better ending not the best tho). If you want this ending but better, get Wyll to become the Blade of Avernus by giving up on the Duke title and you have to be a very good friend with Karlach so you will save her by sending her back to Avernus under Wyll's protection, and Orpheus doesn't have to die. Lae'zel continues his legacy to save the Gyths from tyranny and Orpheus stays and watch how his people will be saved. That's the perfect ending.

Make sure Kagha agrees to stop the ritual. Enter the Goblin Camp and free Halsin. Have him wait in the room. Do not talk to Minthara. Do not make the Goblins hostile. Leave via the Mountain Pass without completing the goblin raid. The tieflings will be stuck in the camp, but protected thanks to Kagha stopping the ritual. Recruit Minthara in Act 2 as usual - she will be in the tower. When you find the sleeping guy in the Last Lights Inn in Act 2, go back and talk to Halsin. Help him complete the ritual. Just wandering if you skip the quest what happends, because Im trying to find way how to side with grove but dont kill minthara, so I can save her at moonrise. Only way I can think of is knocking her out insted of killing.

@@griczzly7138 when I visited the grove there was dead body's and no npcs around... It was after I left to next act and came back for helsin in goblin camp.

@@DarkJSNI tried to stop him in my game, but my relationship with him wasn't good enough to stop him from ascending. Either he ascended, ran off after telling me he hopes that I die screaming or tries to 3v1 me and the group. Though maybe it could work if he isn't in the party at the time, which didn't really cross my mind. Is that what you did or did you have a good enough relationship with him to talk him out of the idea?

@@Xokoy I managed to talk him out of doing the ritual. I started with [Insight] that made my character realize Astarion wasn't being himself atm, and then I pursuaded him to not do it. I think my relationship with him was around 70% at the time.

You need to have the orphic hammer (I did house of hope, though I imagine you can also make a deal with Raphael without killing him or invading his house) and then you need to free him when the emperor wants to either take the stones or turn you into a mind flayer. This will cause the emperor to turn on you though, and he'll be a boss in the final fight, and it will also change the counter adds in that fight as well as some dialogue, but yeah, that's how you get him. Once Orpheus is free, he'll basically give you the same choice that the emperor gives you, with someone having to became a mind flayer in order to use the stones on the brain.

I did that, but I can't say how hard the Emperor fight is since I killed him before he could act.

@@Xokoy I took the Emperor down first since I didn't know what he is capable of, that worried me. Then I focused the Dragon. I lost two of my team members and Orpheus by then. So I used Shadowheart's divine intervention that revived everyone to half health and restores spell slots. The dream visitors were more annoying than difficult, same with the random tentacles. I had taken out two of the illithid on the platform by calling the dragon. And called Aylin against the other side. If I had been smarter I would have used the fire resistance potions I had instead of just charging in with abandon.

My approach was to try and kill everything the first time around since I figured that casting the spell would be the win condition, so, I was out of resources by the time I downed everything and was getting fired at by the nearby ship by the time I went through and the netherbrain had no problem finishing me off at that point. Second attempt, I prepared some different spells to get there as quickly as possible, including dimension door and misty step as well as globe of invulnerability to cheese the concentration checks. My Karlach stayed behind to tank things while my Wyll, Tav, Shadowheart and emperor went on through to fight the brain. Sadly, a certain devil lied to me and did not give me the aid the he promised me. I have since gone to back the last conversation with the emperor many times to explore the various endings that I can get from that point on based on what I say and do at that point.

Remove "half" from Vampire, make Astarion a whole, by helping him in his needs (not yours needs), against fate to be a part of "100 year for preparation" plan.

forewarning that i might have this a bit wrong cause it's a lot of messing around, but it should be the main parts of it. you can recruit both halsin & minthara by progressing the main quest in an unnatural way. first and foremost, you gotta expose kagha for working with the shadow druids and then afterwards, help her defeat the druids to redeem herself. then get her to cancel the rite and look after the tieflings for a while. this keeps the tieflings safe and the urgency of their shenanigans is lessened. it should also keep the tiefling refugees alive, but it doesnt seem consistent? some people say it works, others it doesn't. then go to the goblin camp and free halsin, but tell him to stay in the room while you deal with the other goblins. afterwards, deal with priestess gut & ragzlin; then jump straight to act 2, skipping minthara (i recommend underdark via spider matriarch area for this, but the creche works the same). this will make the game register her as "failed" in her mission and you'll stumble across her at moonrise, making her recruitable. you can then go to the last light inn and interract with art (the shadowfell tainted guy) to get the quest to fix the shadowlands, which at that point you teleport *back* to the goblin camp and speak with halsin about the shadowfell guy. if you've done it correctly, you'll have both halsin and minthara in your camp (albeit they both occupy the same tent location). to anyone else who's done this and noticed an error, please correct me cause again, it's quite an unnatural approach to the game. also, minthara is grossly underdeveloped in act 2, and while she has interesting things to say she lacks the depth that every other companion has. still cool having her around

Minthara -> pacifist talk in goblin camp, then prison escape with her (you must be a part of Absolute, on words - without help, just like a spy) Karlach -> Romance Route to the End! Love will temper her heart. Which is not a problem for another Love Partner, as you can see.

It's not strictly necessary to raid the Grove to recruit Minthara; you just need to avoid killing/KOing her, so that she's still around come Act 2. Likewise, you don't strictly need to defeat the leaders to get Halsin; so long as you've met him in the Goblin Camp, you can go back and talk to him there. So just waltz on without resolving the goblin/tiefling conflict and it's technically possible to grab everyone. Be aware the tieflings do still die in this path, which means a full party is still costing you quite a bit of content. Having everyone is a bit buggy and maybe unintentional, so I don't know if Larian will later patch this in some way.

@@teoadventures2564 i know only 3 ways to do that, maybe one of them will help: - Drow Race + lying about being a part of Absolute on Guard Post - A lone MC in Goblin Disguise Form - (Recomended) Just help prisoned Goblin to escape in Tiefling Village and you`ll be a "hero" for goblins. You can even help her again in ACT 2, before she`ll be executed with Minthara.

I finished this game multiple times, and some cinematics doesn't show up like Karlach death if you have never discovered that she is dying that happens in Act 3 from blacksmith.... in this playthrough I didn't save the grove to get minthara and because of that blacksmith never got to baldurs gate city... if you play Karlach origin you will discover new cinematic where she silently leaves from others to bell tower you get some dialog pop ups that's like go back to hell or die on bell tower away from companion eyes... About Astorian if you make him kill Cazador in Act 3 and take his place in absorbing vampire souls he will become most powerful vampire Ascendant that are not afraid from sun anymore and you will not get cinematic at the end where he starts burning....

Almost on ending of act 2 when you have to take over moonrise tower and kill boss from him you get armor.

You can free the githyanki prince by making deal with Raphael he give you Hammer to break the chains, in return he wants crown back, but you can visit his house in hell to break the contract and have epic music and fight with him!!

You can recruit her if you stay neutral in the Druid vs Goblin conflict. But, you are normally not meant to have both her and Halsin at the same time.

He's Jaheira friend, if you take jaheira with you on that quest chain she will actually tell you not to kill him. You just enable none lethal attack option and knock him out with hand attack or weapon. After that you will be able to convince mind flayer in your head to give him protection from elder brain. Than he joins you....

@@mumix9902 Oh, I though, u know, she would tell me something like that in the camp, since I went there like 5 times after the bank but before going to the sewers. Actually I went to the sewers before anything and found their camp, but they were not there and then after the bank I had no reason to go there, so I found them by accident. Act 3 seems kinda mess up, is too much stuff to take into account.

It's very buggy because it's not intended to have helsin and minthara at the same time... Because of ignoring goblin camp after leaving to next act they will kill everyone in grove even if you kill all druids in the grove or expose evil druid..

Bald guy = Minsc - you can save/recruit him in act 3. Astarion has to complete the ritual to not burn in the sun.

How can you not know who Minsc is?! He is a fan favorite from the first two games, so it would be a crime if he wasn't in this one.

Maybe MC just gave Halsin and other Druids a "hint" how to beat other goblins and moved to ACT 2 (Forest in Thorns is OP!). Where MC saved Minthara from punishment for bad assault (she don`t even care about talk with druids and stealth-killed generals, only our physical help is matter).

@@konichihuahua5736 by talking with the whole Druid Grove, mostly with Kagha and Halsin, you need to side with Kagha and improve her ritual, Rite of Thorns. She`ll agree and even let Tieflings to survive the assault. But we just leave this place before triggering assault cutscenes. Outcome: failed assault, of course. And, if you are curious about those Thorns, that stopped assault, here - old video. sadly grove will fall because you have to skip killing goblin leaders quest to get minthara in moonrise tower, go diplomatic approach goblin camp than in prison cell save helsin tell him to stay and wait for you. now you just continue doing what you wane, when you ready leave to act 2 and you will be able to save minthara in moonrise tower, and to get helsin without killing goblin leaders you go to light inn and on first floor from main entrance right door will be sleeping guy, to wake him up you have to get music instrument from doctor in hospital, and than the guy will wake up and tell you to find helsin go back to goblin camp prison and tell helsin to goo see that guy in light inn....

go to goblin camp don't attack anyone now go to halsin, kill goblins that are near cell after you talk with halsin tell him to stay and wait for you, now leave using waypoint or whatever go to cursed lands use spider to get to moonrise tower from there save Minthara, now you can go back to Halsin there is high chance he will be bugged and have dialogs like hes already in your camp, to fix this you go to last light in and start quest to cure cursed lands by waking up Art Cullagh on first floor, to wake him up you have to visit house of healing and get music instrument from the doctor now you can go back to sleeping guy wake him up after that he will tell you to find halsin to cure this lands now if you had bugged halsin ho was staying in goblin camp just go back to him talk with him and he will go to the last light inn where the sleeping guy was, now you can start the quest to cure cursed shadow lands after that he will join your camp, there is tons of buggs like he is sharing same tent with minthara, sometime if she is not active in your party Wyll will randomly attack her..... when i got to lower city everything was fine at that point until then its kinda buggy mess, definetly not intended.....

If you send it to the devs, they might make it doable, or they'll make sure they are mutually exclusive. Or they can do what the other Baldur's Gate games do and have them fight to the death, where you can join in or just watch.
