Alrighty, I recorded this like a year ago and just found it now. So, I might have already posted it, but we'll find out I guess. Also, stock it's super handle heavy, but with little barrels it's spot on perfect 👌
Thanks for watching (or rewatching lol)

Loved hearing you talk about what a pain it would be to take apart. I got a newer version and the latch stopped working so I took it back. They said the pivot was so loose the latch wouldn’t close and gave me a new one. Same thing happened. I ordered some loctite and took it apart myself and put loctite in the pivot. Man, I’m not a very mechanically adept person and there were so many tiny screws, and the metal liners coming apart, and those tiny pins held in by nothing falling out, it was insane. Those scale screws have at least 3 different sizes and it’s hard to figure out which go where. Also was surprised to see ball bearings in the pivots. I finally managed to get it back together and it seems to be rock solid. Quality control at some of their plants is going downhill lately I hear. Very cool design, although definitely a pain to maintain. Love your tricks btw, looks very smooth.

It looks nice and should be a good host for new custom scales. Maybe something rare, like Bone, horn, Micarta or Jeans Micarta would be awesome. With these it will be less durable, but might look really sweet.

Yo Indiana John I'm in the market for a new edc bali. Im stuck between the big version and small version of the boker tactical. I feel like the big version might be too heavy and the small version too small to fidget with. Any suggestions on which to get? Also feel free to recommend other balis under $100.

Balisong size really seems to be more of a matter of preference. I’d say the standard overall length for butterfly knives is around 9”, which is the length I believe most people are comfortable with so you’d probably be pretty safe getting a 9” one. But some people like ones that are smaller and some like bigger ones, you’d have to experiment with different knives to figure out which one works best for you. Personally, I like the larger and heavier butterfly knives. I recently got the Kershaw Lucha and I would say that it’s almost perfect for me at a 10.25” length, although the weight might be towards the upper limit of what I’d want in a flipper. It has heavy steel handles which puts a lot of bias towards the end of the handles, which some people don’t like. But it’s very sturdy and smooth, and it’s not very expensive at $110. It also comes with a very sharp blade, so I would be extremely careful if you did get one of these. I would greatly recommend this one if you have bigger hands. Bear and sons also makes some decent butterfly knives, provided you get one that’s around the $70-$80 range.

I'm a newbie and I bought this for my first knife, I think it kind of sucks. On the back of the blade there's that harpoon hook, that thing is sharp on my knife, it hurts my hand when I flip it back, almost need to grind it down a bit. The pocket clip sucks, it fell out of my pocket and I don't trust it, all my other knives have a great clips and they are secure in my pocket. The clasp that holds the handles together, seemed like it worked OK when I first bought it. Now that I've been flipping for a few hours it won't hold the handles together, it just pops off. I'm afraid to keep it in my pocket because it won't stay closed. And the blade came sharper than a razor blade, way too sharp in my opinion. It's the sharpest knife I've ever owned new from the factory. I had to put duct tape on the blade and a rubber band on the handles to hold it together to keep it safe in my pocket LOL. I'm going to keep it but I already ordered a different Balisong...

It takes a lot of bits/equipment to do installs like that. You're best bet would be to ask Ben Parli to do an IKBS bearing install, or Chad Hammer to do a bushing install. It's gonna cost about the same as the knife tho, so it's unfortunately probably not worth it

You must test the big model of boker now but like i said it’s China’s balisong and for the price (~80 bucks) you will have poor hardware like plastic washers and poor screws, but i really want know your opinion on their balisong.. thanks for the retex man, good luck 🦋
@Indiana_John
@Indiana_John 4 жыл бұрын
I've had the big model for a couple months now, and I've gotta say it is wicked nice👌. It certainly isn't BRS or Hom quality, but it is a lot more solid than I expected. The bearings are actually pretty nice, altho, if gunk gets in there they are a bit more crunchy(same with any bearing knife). Believe it or not, but not all the knives that come outa China are CCCs(Maxace, Artisan cutlery, and WE for example)
@FrenchBalisongRyder
@FrenchBalisongRyder 4 жыл бұрын
Indiana John yes i believe you on China’s bali too.. and for the price the boker is good, but i found many things too soft like the spring latch, the screws on many of them are seized on the scales and the tip of the blade is very fine, one drop and she broke.. however the blade like the 62 is beautiful and if you have a good model it’s a great bali for the price

440c should be on a $20 knife. That is obviously the way they made such a nice flipper for so cheap.
@Indiana_John
@Indiana_John 2 жыл бұрын
The majority of the 4x line is 440c.. blade steel doesn't affect price a whole lot tbh. I paid about $80 for a bar of SG CPM S45VN that was big enough to make 4 blades, but if I got a bar the same size in 440c, it would prolly be like less than half. That's only a $10 different tho(per bali). Price is a weird complicated thing with balis, because there's so so much that goes into designing and making them
@joeisabella6811
@joeisabella6811 2 жыл бұрын
Everyone likes to forget that not all that long ago 440c was the super steel of its day. 20 years from now your S35V and the like will be the equivalent of Aus 8 today. And people will talk crap about it too probably. Lol 😆

@@joeisabella6811 Yeah it used to be the best steel, and it hasn't gotten any worse, it's still a fine steel. But that does not change the fact that it's relatively cheap to make. It is currently a budget steel. I'm talking about price, not performance.
