I looked up the seller and not only do they have the same product for the same price more than 2 years later, they have the cutest set of fountain pens ever: the 4 different colours' caps are topped with a cola cup, a milk carton, a cupcake, and an oreo being dunked into a teacup of milk, respectively, and when you put the cap on the pen, the given food item splits in the middle to reveal a little cat face inside. If these aren't must-have items I don't know what is

I believe you're thinking of rollerball's. Ballpoints used oil based ink, not liquid ink like fountain pens

I found that these and any refillable rollerball/fountain pens work really well with the noodler's russian inks since they're quite thick in comparison to regular ink

Since there is metal on metal wear in the tip, it might be worthwhile looking into what kind of anti-wear additives go into water-glycol based hydraulic fluid. Hydraulic systems also have lots of metal parts that rub together. Propolene Glycol is a good choice for starters because it is one of the glycol bases for water-glycol hydraulic fluid (and it's non-toxic). Some additives you can look at are ZDDP, phosponates, polymers like PAG, and borate esters.

Great review! I love rollerballs etc that allow the use of beautiful fountain pen ink! Are there any brands or names of FP ink that should be avoided when using a non-fountain pen due to shimmer or sheen etc clogging the rollerball up?

Great video! Does the ink bleed or shadow with 0.4mm or 0.5mm on regular cheap notebook paper? The Zebra R-301 0.7mm bleeds the paper so I was pondering trying this Aliexpress on 0.4mm to avoid bleeding albeit scratchiness ... does the 0.5mm bleed? Your advice would be very very helpful! Thanks in advance for such a great video!

The bleeding is more a function of the paper and the ink. This pen writes very dry compared to a "normal" fine/Xfine fountain pen with the same ink. But if you have poor paper, almost anything will bleed on it. If you have really really terrible paper to use, look for a dry ink to help as well. If you have a poor quality paper to use you're probably better with ballpoint pens or at most gel pens, specially if you want to write on both sides of the paper

You don’t draw the ink up with the nib on with rollerballs. You just take the converter and draw the ink

Just picked up a Monteverde Mega Ink ball . Precede the Engage I am told. Very nice girthy pen marked down because it hadn’t moved in 10 years..just a sucker for a bargain.

It works well but you do need to be using it fairly regularly or be sure to flush it out. Not good if left alone with ink for a bit. Seems to dry up quicker than a fountain pen.

Haha... Mine just arrived... had to make sure there wasn't any "abra-cadabra crap" involved in filling cuz' it's a ROLLERBALL... and nothing is EVER simple... right... RIGHT??? ;o)
