It's a classic story among many Band Maid fans. You click on the thumbnail the first time seeing the maid costumes thinking: "What the hell?" Then you continue clicking on their videos thinking: "Hell yeah!"

New to Band Maid. To those that think this gimmick has head in sand. This group of amazing people has found a gap in music that has been missing , and took control. So many genres yet one fluid sound. Love it.

Because Band Maid are Japanese girls, it was always going to be difficult for them to penetrate the Rock market. But with hard work and showmanship, they are getting more and more popular. There are some other Japanese girl groups like Marys Blood, Lovebites, Aldious etc. that are amazing but are still trying to make a major break into a male dominated market. Band Maid is getting the recognition they deserve because of their song compositions and overall instrumental talent. Gimmicks are a norm for most rock bands (Angus Young of AC/DC schoolboy outfit, KISS makeup, Slash Top Hat from Guns N, Roses, etc. etc. etc.) so the Maid outfits are cool for these girls. Once an audience is hooked by a gimmick, they decide if group really has talent. And yes, most agree that they have amazing talent. Hope for bigger things for these marvels.

Domination live 2020 is not a song or a performance. It's an experience. A soul lifting, heartwarming experience. Just what we need in these troubled times.

The band is amazing as always, but I think this song goes to Akane, she really goes crazy on the drums, I really love her, she's always smiling when playing, her energy is great! Another person already recommend it, but you should really see their 2020 Domination live performance, or the live version of "don't you tell me" (because Kanami and Misa have an epic moment together),

Cool reaction. The complexity is in part down to Kanami, who wrote the backbone of the song, inviting the other four members of the band to contribute melodies that were then incorporated into the song. So definitely a band composition.

MISA! MISA! MISA! You were having a little trouble explaining it.....Band Maid calls it "The Gap". That juxtaposition between the Kawaii Maids and the Hard Rock they play is the real "Gimmick". And aint it so much FUN!!! Put your Kitsune UP!! Po!

Great reaction! You caught all the great stuff in there. The thing is, other bands can't really write songs like this. You have to have everybody in the band at a high level,have them all be on the same page and all be committed to making the best sounding song possible. That means the band members have to respect each other enough and respect the work enough to set Ego's aside for the sake of the overall song. On the other hand, they all know that in this band they are all going to get the chance to shine! So, yea this band continues to grow, getting better all the time. I also agree you need to see Domination Live from 02/14/2020 and see what they are like a little over a month ago. No Spoilers, just check it out.

Yea this one is my favorite song of BAND-MAID it has everything. 👉 Akane: wicked drumming thru out the song. 👉 Kanami: insane guitar solo. 👉 Saiki / Miku: Vocal harmonizing. 👉 MISA: Bass breakdown. 👉 Breakdown section at the end. Overall a Masterpiece! *Blooming the gateway drug of BAND-MAID!!!*

This is such a great song with so much going on. My first few listens to it I thought it may be my new favorite song. Secret My Lips still holds the top spot though.

What do i think ? its a fucking masterpiece of not only playing, but of VERY clever arranging of parts. What would really surprise me is if they did something that WAS;NT good ! And how long is it going to take the drumming world, to wake up to the fact that Akane is at the top of the game already, even at her young age. She isn't a drummer just famous for playing solo smartass fiddley technical stuff at exhibitions , she makes the hard stuff actually work, in a living , breathing. hyper-performance band LIVE !

I thing the phrase you were searching for was, "as more people venture down the pidgeon hole". As for Misa not getting a spotlight in this song, (I get it that she's your favorite) is that makes the her moments in all the other songs all the more special. To do it in every song would make it seem too formulaic and predictable. Besides that, without what she's doing underneath the solos and locking in with Akane, this song would fall flat. The drums might be the foundation, but the bass is all the weight bearing pillars of the structure that is a song.

Re gimmick response. "it has so much complexity to it." Very right. To those people who are calling this band gimmick, you go write albums worth of songs as complex as this and then still tell me they're gimmicky.

I have mentioned on other reactions to this song, although a great song and I know the live version will be excellent, but the electronic tweaks to Saiki's voice is really annoying and unnecessary, in my view. In addition the thank goodness, short sampled drum pattern takes away from Akane's, drumming. Thanks for your in depth analysis and pointing out to newbies that Band Maid, are not a gimmick.
