Crocodile is such a Bond villain lol it's funny though how he is always ready for any situation, but he seriously got tricked by Sanji's phonecall. Guess they never directly talked before and he just thought Mr 3 was dumb/acting dumb, hence why he sent Mr 2 after him right after😅

Luffy was simply trying to teach Vivi a lesson. Up until this point, Vivi was shouldering the burden and responsibility of resolving this Civil War on herself. The show doesnt tell you this but Vivi was the one that first decided to leave Alabasta to infiltrate Boroque Works in order to find out whats been happening. Everything Vivi has done has been from her own accord. She feels guilty in thinking that she let this conflict happen to her country. Luffy is reminding her and telling her, "This is not your burden, its our burden together and we are here to help you." Its a different poetic version of the Help Me scene from when Nami broke down in front of Luffy. Nami swallowed her pride and asked for help. But Vivi is too strong and too proud to do that. And that pride clouds her judgement and realistic expectations of the outcome for this Civil War.

Regarding Zach's comments about it feeling like we are still at the start of the show, and it feeling like Oda is still placing his pieces on the chess board, I share those sentiments too. But I am mostly curious to see at which point you guys will start feeling like "okay, now we are being told the true narrative of the One Piece story" Love how Jonathan caught that 'We are' OST. The music in OP is just so good. I also love how it feels very orchestral, for lack of a better word. "That scrap of paper will bring you and me together again sometime...Come to the top" And yes, Miss Merry Christmas is annoying!!! ""Un! Deux! Krah!" - Goat Bon Clay Old man Todo is one of my favourite characters of this arc and saga. His well-placed loyalty is amazing man. Crocodile a menace for real hey... All it took was a single "Disatissfied?" and the mood in the room changed. He feels like a 007 villain, fitting for a villain basically committing espionage to Alabasta. "...you hope everyone will stay safe and sound. Don't you think that's too soft hearted?" As always, I am a big advocate for how emotionally smart Luffy is, and this scene is a top 3 scene for me this entire saga. What I also love most is how in Drum, Vivi taught Luffy the humility a leader should have, And here, Luffy is teaching Vivi the dangers of being too soft hearted and naive. I also love how this is yet another moment that makes you wonder about Luffy's childhood. For someone so care free and gullible about things sometimes, there seems to be an awareness of the realities of life when he speaks like that, especially when he says "People die". That "whoa" from Zach is so fitting. Then he punches the shii outta Vivi afterwards😭. To Jonathan's question, Luffy always understands what the heart of the problem is, and more often than not he wants to beat it up, ala Arlong and Crocodile in this moment. Luffy feels Vivi's plan is a band aid at this point, and it is naive in that she is trying to prevent bloodshed when it already seems inevitable. Close to a million people are itching for a fight at this point, and that number will only grow unless the main cause is beat up. Also, I think Luffy feels that Vivi is still acting like she is alone in this fight, instead of taking the fight to Crocodile and putting her new nakama's life on the line in the same way she has put her own life on the line in her attempts to save the country. That "Oh, you can cry those kinds of tears" is just the perfect cap to all of this. You guys were so fixed on the screen. Till the next drop

Yeah Luffy wanted to go straight to Crocodile. Vivi wanted to go to the rebels to warn and stop them to avoid people being killed but Luffy thinks that's unrealistic thing to believe that no ones going to die - they are up against a Warlord afterall. So Luffy just wanted to let vivi know that they can risk their lives too and go straight to Crocodile to stop him. This is one of the scenes where you can see how emotionally aware and smart Luffy is. He has a great knack on knowing who people truly are - good or bad and can really express himself well.

in case nobody told you guys the bounty hunter guy in episode 101 was filler too but the stuff with Ace at the end of that episode is 100% canon. That scene at the end actually took place immediately after he showed up to save them in the manga. He never came with them that far in the manga so its been anime only with him the whole time up until that scene. Basically 90% of the episode was filler but its good that you didnt skip that one cuz that was a canon detail at the end of it. Plus its a fun filler anyway so I enjoyed seeing it again 😂

I wish we had as much of Ace in the manga as we got in the anime. Usually the filler is not great but I actually liked this stuff with Ace. Maybe because I watched the anime first, I don't know. Doesn't look like the top executives of Baroque Works get along very well does it? Luffy's emotional intelligence is incredibly high. Up to this point we haven't seen him peg someone wrong. _Responding_ to what he senses though, that's an opportunity area. Laboon needed something to take his mind off of waiting for his crew, so Luffy started a fight with him. Was it the best idea? Probably not. It worked. Vivi needed to be reminded that she is not alone, that she has friends. He probably could have handled that a bit differently but I suspect there still would have been some yelling.

yeah, the anime really ups the womens tops to another degree, and it will continue (not that Oda himself doesn't like that, as he will admit in SBSs again and again. But the anime really goes more and more out of control in that regard)

That 100th episode would've been more solid if it weren't for all the fillers episodes included within those episodes😀 I am not even sure if you watched all of those filler episodes or not😁 Taking that into account, it makes more sense that it feels like it's still the beginning of the series (although it wouldn't have made that much of a difference, even without those fillers🙂) By the way, it's such a coincidence that you've ended this reaction on episode 104 cuz the chapter that episode 104 was based on it's exactly the last chapter of volume 18 which it's precisely the last volume of the One Piece manga that I ended up bying and reading just a couple of days before🙂 It's been so fun reading it while at the same time watching your One Piece reactions, so I could see more clearly for the first time all of the differences between the manga and the anime up to this point, some of which are really crazy and which I have been already pointing up to you in my earlier comments😀 Oh, in case you are interested, the 104th episode is based on chapter 166, just to give you a better picture of how far in the story you got to based on the manga😀 Speaking of differences between the manga and the anime, you may already know it but all those scenes with Ace (except for the final scene where he says farewell to Luffy) after he destroyed those baroque works ships after talking to Luffy and the strawhats on their Going Merry ship about his plans, were all fillers. Which is crazy to think about it, I know😀 That last speech that Ace gave to Luffy in the anime, it actually happened on the Going Merry ship before he destroyed those baroque works ships, except for the line "Let's meet at the top" which he said on his weird small boat after he destroyed those ships🙂

Ah..too bad...too bad you skipped two pretty classic fillers!! Let me say: in general filler episodes its not so fun but in ONE PIECE they hit differently, of course the filler stories that doesnt end in one episode and they last for various episodes its a bit "meh" (beside the "G8" arc that will coming in future w) but one unique stories with a start and end in one episode its priceless UwU Especially when these stories are focused to each character of the crew (like Logue Town episodes) are fun, but unfortunately these kind of episodes will begin to be low after 2-3 saga so i could recommend to give a look to some of them (like the first 3-4 filler episodes after the Arabasta Saga) :D
