In the manga Zeff actuall ate his leg and didn’t cut it off. I like that the live action did this instead of the anime censored version.

Ghin is that one old pal we all know, who is stuck in a toxic relationship, whenever we check up on him, he is still loyal. Ghin ended up being a complicated character till the end, we can say, he got twisted...or Sanji killed him with kindness.

I think one of my personal favorite touches from these two episodes was the hinted juxtaposition between Sanji's debt to Zeff and Luffys debt to Shanks. Both pirates lost a limb to save their respective child but how the child grew to view that initial kindness is vastely different. Luffy went on to feircly fight for his dream just as Shanks wanted for him, and Sanji is willing to give his life just to save a ship. Sure, the ship is important but to Zeff it certainly isn't more important than Sanji's life and his dreams to find the All Blue. I love how angry Luffy gets as he sees the pain in Zeff's eyes as Sanji declares he doesn't believe anything he could do would be enough to repay Zeff. But Zeff raised him, loved him, trained him, and dying as a repayment would be the worst-case scenario. Luffy understands this but Sanji hasn't quite grasped it yet, grasped that Zeff doesn't want repayment, his reward is Sanji's happiness as he sets out to find his dream!

Manga shows us an extra page of Zeff smashing his leg by a rock, inner monologue being "So this is the end, of Red Foot Zeff" Its good that somethings be left out entirely, for a surprise..though many already predicted by the situation that he must have eaten his leg.

No ship, no leverage, no shackles to hold down Sanji and everyone...Luffy's most pissed off decision, even when he knows the meaning of Treasure..

The Zeff in the anime was censored as the studio at the time thought it would be too graphic for him to actually use a stone to chop his leg, so it was replaced with him sacrificing it instead, it's still Japan so they aren't shy about showing blood unlike in the west where everything is for sensitive babies.

Sanji's dream of All Blue is very fascinating indeed...the All Verb🫡😺

Now that I think back Don Krieg really thought he could avoid powerful people and get one piece with Zeff' s logbook 😅😂🤣🤣🤣

I don't know anything about a place that's a paradise for musicians in the Grand Line but there are music gods/deities out there, and Luffy always wanted a musician on the crew 👀

what Brannon (man, I hope i didn't misremember totally, 2nd from the right, I am bad with names, sorry - the harsh vocalist) said at the end - one small act of kindness can move even a bad guy (like Gin) - One Piece does this very often - small acts of kindness, conviction, or compassion moving mountains hope you have a nice new years !!! also, under your last vid (ep 22-24) I wrote of Mihawks actor and his spoilery interview - here the spoiler-free fun parts (i recall ;) ) ... how he got the role is funny. while he is an actor, these days he is more a casting director (in south afric) than an actor, but through that he has a lot of connection - so, one of these days, his phone rang, and he guessed it was a misdial (going by the number) and he ignored it, again, and again, until the casting director on the other side connected through their mutual aquantaince that she had a role in a "project panda" he would fit well. they gave him some vague criteria about the character (without saying the name nor the series) only that he was an amazing swordsman with distinct eyes. While preparing to shoot the tape for the scene, his wife came up with the idea to go all in with the makeup for the eyes (eyeliner etc to make them pop) , next thing he knew, he had the part - so it worked XD . Then he was told what the part and the series were - so he asked some friends who he that they knew OP, and asked them about the stakes he would take on - and they gave him a good talking to about that how he CAN'T fuck that up XD and prepared him (and then he continues with the spoilers pertaining Mihawks role in OP going forward). Also, he liked to be in costume and character so much, that he'd be fine to be on set, in costume, even if he had no part in the season in front of the camera XD

I love Sanji and Gin interactions so much! I didn't care about the lack of Don Krieg in the LA but was really disappointed they cut original Gin and his relationship with Sanji...Baratie is such an important arc for Sanji's character development but he was pretty much a side character in the LA😕 As for the flashback, the LA was actually accurate to the original when it comes to Zeff eating his leg, it was censored in the anime.

First, Zack beautiful humming! lol So, someone had already mentioned it, but Zeff eating his leg is cannon in the manga. The starving scene in both the live action and the anime are crazy, but I agree the anime did a better job on showing it. One of the things I love about One Piece is everything is shown for a reason. For example, Ghen using his pearl batons on Pearl's "indestructible shields" only to shatter them really puts into perspective how injured Sanji is and still gets up and continues fighting. For me it always shows that there is one thing to be loyal to your capitan but another to have your own moral compas/codeks, and I think it will be more obvious when the fight with Don krieg ends, that some people are worth following and some hmm they are not it or they need grow.... Don't worry very soon you will see more devil fruits, like in 20 episodes I think, you can look forwart to it 😁

LA saved us of the annoying Krieg monologues, as well as that absurd Pearl.. Pearl was present in LA, in a well deserved position, during the Mihawk's introduction, fighting with Krieg fleet.

I've watched this easily 50 times and I have seen multiple Renditions of it. Mihawk only fights Don Creek in the live action I do enjoy this story in almost every way has told

Late watch on my part for this one, great as always. A happy new year to you guys and looking forward to the journey ahead. I am sure there are enough comments about Sanji and his extreme and toxic relationship with kindness, his self-sacrificial attitude, how he fights so strongly for others' dreams but not his. In the same way I think Zoro's relationship with death is interesting, I believe the same is true with Sanji and kindness. So, I leave you with this to ponder on, what would make a young kid cooking on a cruise ship have such an extreme reaction to receiving genuine kindness? What would make him place so little regard on his life? Why does he place such little worth on his life and dreams? Lastly, I love how Zeff tells Sanji to watch how Luffy fights, harkens back to the moment Luffy tells Koby what he (Luffy) is willing to stake to become "Kaizoku o ni naru otoko da" (The man who will become the king of the pirates) in episode 1. Ps; Are you guys musicians/ work with music?
