Yes, the insurance covered the cost of the car. I wouldn't have been driving like that on a public road. At the track I wasn't breaking any laws and I wasn't racing nor was it a timed event.

@@NewArt1 But you were at a higher risk on the track compared to how you drive on public roads. When I bought my first Porsche back in 2009, I was surprised how cheap full coverage insurance was. The agent told me that "they do not get many claims". Great, I thought. The problem is I believe DE days should have to get extra insurance simply because there is a great chance of an incident like yours...that is then spread out amongst the rest of us not taking part in a DE.

Crashes during DE days are actually fairly rare. I'm sure the insurance companies aren't losing money from these highly organized and controlled events. In the 8 years that I've been tracking, I've seen maybe 3 accidents, none of them as serious as mine. I see way more than that on public roads, highways and parking lots!

@@NewArt1 Simply because there are fewer cars on DE days and a lot more cars on public roads, highways and parking lots. Anyway, looking at the pic, damn that hurts. BTW, the pick-up video, those are always fun. I remember the day I picked my 993 up in another city.

The insurance company is Prysm which is found through CAA. Quite happy with the result.

@@NewArt1 Video was great - but footage of the incident would have been useful - knowing the limits of these cars and when you can lose them. Especially as they are such great handling cars - I think they can give you maybe a slightly false confidence level. Well having seen this, its what I now fear when driving mine - it seems glued to the road - I appreciate Ive never done track. My hat off to you sir - you are hitting it pretty hard and having fun :)
