SSP Eating House aka SSP Refreshment wouldn't have thought they will gain this much of attention and social media fame, five years ago. A small, humble and hidden eatery only known to the Jayanagar/Wilson Garden neighborhood is now known countrywide. Waited for almost two years for all these social media frenzy to settle down. Had a great breakfast experience.
The much talked about Acrey Idly stood up to its reputation and with that enormous sized idli, one wood struggle finishing a full idli, better to go for a half portion of this idli. Acrey idli was silky smooth and didn't have any rice granules in it, which is a de-facto standard in a Bangalore idli. Due to this, the idli tasted pasty, but made a great pair with the super spice chutney. The heat from green chilly in the chutney will hit the spot and elevated the idly experience. The Vade that accompanied the idly was decent but not exceptional.
Masala Dosae is a recent addition to SSP's menu and it was a nice, crispy and less greasy dosae. You get a half portion in Masala Dosae too, which is a convenient option if someone wants to taste everything on the menu.
The real star at SSP was Trimurty the breakfast combo with 3 dishes, Uppitu, Pulav and Chitranna (in this combo also, you have the flexibility of choosing any 3 dishes). The ghee soaked Uppittu made with bansi rava was out of the world, which resembled Chennai's Rava pongal. Chitranna and Pulav are nice additions in the combo for those who would love rice dishes in a breakfast.
Served on Mandara leaves, the breakfast at SSP Eating House is a one of a kind meal experience. Go on a weekday to have a peaceful brekkie.
