BANGERTV - All Metal

Күн бұрын

Four contestants create an original shred score to a short film to showcase their abilities to create atmosphere with solo guitar.
A six-episode digital series, SHREDDERS OF METAL is the first talent competition show dedicated to heavy metal music. Seven guitarists will showcase their shredding skills for a panel of three judges: ALEX SKOLNICK (TESTAMENT), DANIEL DEKAY (DIEMONDS, BANGERTV) and SAM DUNN (BANGER FILMS CO-FOUNDER). The series host is comedian BLAYNE SMITH.

Giovanni Gobbi I agree, but at the same time it's a "shred" competition. Even though I'm a rhythm player and prefer good riffs to good leads, I didn't expect to see any good riffing going on in this show. The 3rd guy did try to go for more of a riff approach though, which was nice.

Hey Zeus They don't have to be able to do something to know that someone else is doing it poorly... That's a ridiculous stance to have lol. You better _never_ critique a car until you've built a better one. Pipe leaking? No pointing that out until you've re-piped a whole house better than the guy that did yours. Tire losing air? No complaining for you until you make some better tires yourself. Guitar string breaking too easy? Pffff you have no room to say it's bad, I don't see you making better guitar strings. This argument is, and has always been, terrible.

This show has such great potential but the random string noodling with out any real context or back track leads them to say "screw melodic motifs!" Also, someone needs to check these guitar tones before filming. Some of these ice pick guitar tones really destroy their performances. The show is great outside of these things, so keep it up! Can't wait to see whats instore for the next episode.

Seeing all these complaints on here every episode. I agree with most of them, but I'm giving them credit still. It's the first time something like this has been done as a series. Not from a big tv channel or subscription service either. If they are smart, if they decide to do another "season" of the show, they should read suggestions from fans and craft the show even more to make a better product. The idea of the show is brilliant all on its own. The potential of the show is through the roof. I would really love the show to go on, if they can get it right

It's too short and too cut. Feels like 60% of the footage is missing. Awkwardly paced too. No one ever says more than 2 sentences before there's a cut in the shot to the next thing happening. And the blaine whiskey segment stopped being funny after the first episode.

I've been watching these episodes every day and while I absolutely LOVE the idea, it's unfortunately just lacking. (And before I go any further, I totally know that this is the first season and that always means there are kinks to be worked out.) But at least as suggestions for possible future seasons, there needs to be behind the scenes type stuff, like watching the shredders practice and sweat over what they're gonna play, or maybe get a few close ups on their faces as they watch other players totally nail a solo. Like I want drama, I want to see the nerves and excitement. I also want more from the judges (who are all great), but I mean c'mon man you got Alex Skolnick up there and he's barely saying three words the few times he's on camera! I'll keep it at that for now, though I've got more haha. Overall though the bones of this show are so so good and if there can be some adjustments and additions for future seasons, it'd be a head bangin' show! (Also side note- whoever came up with shredding the names of contestants in the paper shredder is a genius.)

This! So much this. I’m a sucker for reality competition shows as well, and the lack of drama is evident. I know they’re trying to pack the entire narrative in five 12 minute shows, but adding in a few standard reality conventions and devices would boost the series significantly. Shouldn’t be any more costly from a production standpoint either. Just do what the cable networks do and rip off the conventional competition format even more.

I personally don't want "reality metal tv." I mean I'm not asking for Gene Simmons Family Jewels here lol. I'm actually not much a fan of reality tv in general, but for what they are presenting us, I need more. Maybe that means it could have some of those reality tv aspects, like getting to know contestants better, hearing more from the judges, etc....

Now this is such a cool and different challenge. It really forces the competitors to do something different with their playing. But Frankie, man, that guy can definitely play. He sounds like pro level player material to me. However, other people are being silly acting like the other players are so awful and bad. No one who's playing anywhere close to this sort of level can truly be called bad. Better and worse, but not bad.

I agree with the backing track idea. Back track with improve needs to for sure be the last challenge. Know knowledge of the backing track. Maybe just give them the keys the backing track is in. Nothing more.

I think you're missing the point to an elimination series? If they keep dropping the worst performance each episode, what else could happen?

iamtherealzombie That's true. But also felt that the non eliminated performers did better as compared to their previous performances.

iamtherealzombie Actually I think the guitarists had taken the criticism on-board from the judges and stopped just playing at 200mph. They slowed down in parts and tried incorporating melodies into their playing.

One cool addition would be to hear what Alex would have done with the main challenge for each show.
