Hey Christian! Just wanted to let you know that you inspired me and my boyfriend to change our surroundings and we are now backpacking in Bali then Thailand for the next year! It's been about two weeks so far and we are falling in love with this place and lifestyle!

Christian, the mango that the Thai use in Mango sticky rice is called Water Lily mango, not the best type of mango in SEA. It is used because of its sweet and savored taste that is suitable to eat with coconut milk and sticky rice.

If you're back in Ekkamai/ Thong Lo try Zaew Noddles on sukhumvit just past Soi 55 ( I think the name is written in Thai though) or the second shop Saew at the start of Soi 49. Also awesome is Rung Rueang about 150 m up Sukhumvit Soi 26

I know it’s the very beginning, but I definitely like the feel of these more so than your other videos. You seem happier but it’s also more realistic for the average person to do things like this than stay in luxury resorts

I'm sure Christian knows this, but for others who might be venturing into Thailand - one important food thing. If you have eat Pad Thai (which is mainly in touristy areas as its more for western people), then make sure you use the condiments. There will always be at least four condiments - sugar, dried chilli flakes, Nam Prik Pla (a mix of things but mostly fish sauce and fresh chillis - its DELICIOUS), and vinegar. If its "too sweet" like the one they ate, you adjust the flavour with a bit of nam prik pla and vinegar. Phad Thai is basically a dish that starts super bland with the expectation you'll adjust it to your tastebuds with the condiments.

HAHAHA. First, I wanna say I had been to Thailand many times before watching your videos. That said, you turned me on to lots of places I hadn't seen. Your Khao Sok vid for example. I have Thai friends who never heard of it. Now on to the spice.... My friend and I are known to be white dudes who can handle unreal spiciness. Even in Thailand I've been served my wifes dish and handled it.... That said, the first meal my wife cooked for me on her 4th day in the USA that she said was "not spicy" almost melted my face off. She's 4'10" 90 lbs and can eat things that would melt the paint off your car. I've learned after many a meal where she made an alternate less spicy version for me, that those versions are not only less spicy, they are "less good" lol By the way, the rating system for a Thai restaurant is this: "Good" (with a smile on your face and big eyes) And "Not Spicy" (which in thai speak means Shitty) Keep up the good work, while the cheapest isn't my style of thai trip, I like videos that show how inexpensive the land of smiles is. We have a home in Chiangmai, (it was my wifes when I met her) We are planning on spending the month of December in Thailand, maybe till after New years. Enjoy!
