Here is the process of me installing the Banks Ram Air Differential cover on my Ram 2500 Cummins. This differential cover is the best there is. If you want something that looks bad a$$ and actually helps your truck. This is what you want! I did a lot of research on this upgrade and have been following Banks since he first announced he was going to break into the differential market and decided it was finally time to pull the trigger! I hope you enjoy this video and I hope some of this helps you in your install!

Thanks for highlighting the o-ring issue. Same thing for me; even more for me than in the video. But trying again making sure not to stretch it, the o-ring installed fine. Appreciate the nice video on the install. 2020 Ram 3500

I installed this on my 2022 Ram 2500. I have an Edge CTS 3, so I added an EAS with a temperature sensor in the provided 1/8" NPT hole right below the sight glass. I can now monitor the rear diff temperature on the CTS 3. I ran the pickup all around on a 65 degree day (not towing) and the rear diff temp was less than 90 degrees. Once I tow I will update with the temperature seen.

When I bought the banks over for my superduty I was doing the same thing with my o ring and I thought it was too long, when I contacted Banks they didn't really walk through the process with me. I found a link on another gentleman's video he got from Banks that showed the process much better. Overall I am happy with the cover, Banks customer service seems to be hit or miss with me.

Yeah the people I have spoke to so far have been extremely helpful. I was freaking out a bit when the prong was not fitting lol I was very happy that it worked. Glad you were able to get yours situated.

another tip when installing a rubber seal such as this o-ring.... lay it in place, press across like 3 & 9 O'clock, then press it in about 12 and 6, then keep working in a rotation 180 deg across all the way around. As you said, when you press it around you are stretching it.

The track bar you're referring to (above the sway bar) is on my 2018 as well. I'd say most if not all the 4th gen trucks had them.

Just finished watching your video, if you purchase the thuren fab rear track bar relocation bracket it will get it out of your way and make your truck ride and handle a whole hell of a lot better

Mine did not lay flat but that’s all good I cut and lined it up and used some RTV on it a good amount and no leaks I love the thing looks awesome

Oh no! You didn’t have to cut it. You just have to press the gasket straight down and back against itself to suck up the slack. However, glad you were able to make it work for you. Love mine too. It looks great! Thanks for taking the time to watch the video! Enjoy that awesome diff cover!

Just did the job about 5 days ago and it still hasn’t leaked so hope it holds on long trips but those gaskets do stretch some times I live in hotter climate in the high dessert but it is sick to have in there it sets the truck off nice

@@mikeyncali I doubt you have anything to worry about. Especially if you put that RTV on there too. I am here in Houston and it gots hot and humid. That gasket didn’t lay down for me and I freaked out lol I was going to stick it in the freezer to make it less malleable but called Banks and they told me a trick and I got it to lay down perfectly. Love my mine man! Like you said, it adds a great look to the truck 👌

@@thejourniganadventures7391 Maybe the cover works too good! I towed my 24 foot enclosed car hauler with a couple side x sides, so about 6,000 pounds on a 65 degree day. The rear diff temp was a bit over 100 degrees.

I decided to just use an electric/air powered gear oil extractor. Much simpler, cleaner.

Watched the video to see how the sway bar brackets got installed... just skipped over that. I assume they will be easy

Ah yes, sorry about that! They are extremely easy. Just undo the 2 bolts per bracket and let the bar swing out of the way. Install the diff, put the spacers in place and use the new bolts provided by Banks and cinch it down.

when you spoke to banks what was their reasoning for that cheap little rubber o-ring and not using the OEM style gasket?

Thanks for a good video. Here is what happened to me while installing the banks diff cover on my 2021 Dodge Ram Big Horn. The third bolt down on the right side of the diff cover that holds the new brake line clip broke internally. I still have not been able to extract it. It's below the surface, During assembly Red Lock Tite was applied on every bolt. I went slow removing all the old bolts and diff cover and the last bolt broke in two. I am so pissed. I have tried drilling out the hole, and no go. The drill bit doesn't cut or bite into the bolt. I've even bought new bits and no go. It is a very discouraging. I don't know what else to do other than keep trying to drill it out. Any suggestions would be helpful. What turned into a 1 hr job turned into an all day nightmare. I am dead on the driveway and really bummed out.

Glad you like the video! That is a huge bummer! I am not entirely sure what to do except invest in some high grade/hardened drill bits and a set of screw extractors. Also a center punch to keep the bits from walking. Don’t get the bits from the big box stores, you are going to need something a lot better. Maybe fastenal would be a good start. If you can drill a hole deep enough maybe the extractor can get a good enough bite on it to remove it the rest of the way. Hopefully the threads don’t get messed up during this process. I would test the bits out on one of the bolts already removed since they are no longer needed. That way you are not on your back and can find one that drills into that material with ease. Possibly bring one of the bolts to a tool store and see what they say. Maybe even a machine shop or mechanic shop to see if they have better options. I hope you get this figured out man! I looked forward to heard what your solution is.

@@thejourniganadventures7391 Hey friend I'm still dead on my driveway but I think I'm going to have to get someone to help me. I have no mig Welder or anything like that to help with the extraction in case I needed it so I'm checking around. I went to a machine shop and bought the hardest drill bits they recommended. But I am afraid I might mess it up worst than it is because my drill bits already (after using the center punch} walked and threw it off center. So It's been sleepless nights for me. Really worried about this. Anyways still working it.

Well I finally got my diff cover on my rig, and broken bolt extracted from the gear housing. Looks great. I am now a happier trucker...

Did you put thread tape on sight glass and drain plug?

No I didn’t. The site glass was pre installed and did not require any adjustment. The fill plug and drain plug tighten down nicely.

i am gonna buy this item once my truck needs diff oil changed at 100,000Km. i am at 39,000

That’s a great way to look at it. Run the stick until you need to change the gear lube! When you hit that 100k marker and pull the trigger, let me know how you like it! There was another guy that commented on this video that had one of the bolts shear off and I think he was around 100k miles. Not to sure but take it slow and steady when you do it!
