so what company is making the pillar mounts for the idash ? with the handle and without the handle. how are the colors matching ? mine is black or real dark navy blue, so probably not much of an issue.

In addition to our suction-mounted single and dual podcast currently available, we have all new single and dual pods coming out in the next 30 days. These pods allow you to retain your stock A-pillar and grab handle. The line-of-sight to the iDash is perfect and doesn't interfere with your peripheral view of the road.

that's gotta be pretty slick! gotta monitor the important stuff. it would be sweet if an aftermarket software or dash was available that let you put any data points you want as gauges on it. that would be stupidly expensive though, but with the 7" dash and a software upgrade I would pay for that software as much as gauges cost.

Did the data monster and super gauge double pods, but instead of doing on windshield cause I have it fully tinted I put to side plllar. I couldn't find a pillar that was double only single and tripple and also only one company seems to make them and super cheap with no grab handle. So I screwed the rubber cup from Idash Pod to pillar, #8 every 1" all the way around it, looks good and I kept my handle! Sent you a pic awhile back Arod when you first brought up the IDash setup.

I picked up the Data Monster last year. I like it so far! I also have the suction pod... the suction pad on the first one broke after a few months... literally ripped right out of the center. Also, I mounted mine on the flat area right below the 4WD knob selector... it's the area that the PTBA knob would have been if I had that feature. I have had bad experiences with that sticky stuff on the back of the suction pad melting on the windshields in the hot southern sun... it's not fun to clean out of the dash... It looks like yours is version 1.22.0. The update to version 1.23.0 is on the site. I have 3 screens set up on mine. The first one has my regen status, ambient air temp (since CarPlay blocks that on the dash), battery voltage, EOT, ECT, Trans temp, and EGT 1 & 4 temps. Page 2 is all about the regens. I have the Regen status, the DPF RG, distance since last regen and EGT's 1, 2, 3 and 4. Page 3 is just a free for all page... I have Fuel level, DEF level, commanded FRP, actual FRP, commanded MAP and actual MAP, and RPM's. It's worth noting that you can actually set up to 5 different pages on each iDash, but so far I only have 3. (To switch between them just hold the back button for a bout 3 seconds and it will cycle to the next page.) Also, just curious about the way you routed the wire. Was this just a mock up? The way it is ran now runs over the airbag in the A Pillar rather than around it. When I ran my wires for my Dashcam I removed the A Pillar so I made sure not to run over the air bags. And one last thing... I have also had my actual iDash replaced. The original one started showing "--" as the value for my trans temp readings pretty often when I would crank my truck. Then after a few months the whole unit would sometime not even come on. I would force it to come on by holding the down button but then all values on every page would then be "--" and I would have to reboot it through the settings or just unplug it and plug it back in. Banks sent me a new one and I have already experienced the same issues... so I don't know if it's something with my specific truck, or if its something about the 22 MY's... I'd be interested to hear if anyone else has experienced any of these issues. Anyway, it would be cool for a later video if you followed up with which PID's you prefer after you get used to it. There are a lot of PID's it can keep up with and I don't understand them all, but I'm learning!

@Chad Poindexter Hey, had that same issue on my idash super gauge (Jan. '19) turned out to be a glitch in the firmware & they emailed me an update...Now I've added more Banks stuff since then including the Data monster...About a month a go "--" come up on the trans temp again but only for second or two & temp came back...It's like the obdII took a second to receive the signal but nothing since then...A OK.

Have the Banks Dual Gauge window mount. Center suction pad center ripped off rest of the pad while driving, and then my gauges were just laying around on my dash. Ended up super gluing the suction pad back together when I got home. I has held together so far but I see this waiting to happen again. Have Bank's new double gauge pillar (w/ the stereo speaker spot), on my radar now. Just need to find the time.

@@louie3552 Personally, I think the Banks pod gauge is cheaply made and the quality represents that. For the price they are asking for them (I paid $40 for mine) I wouldn't buy one again or recommend them. For the same quality I would just spend the $7 for the Amazon knock-off's. Banks did send me another one when I notified them that mine broke, however while waiting for the replacement to come in I ended up using some double sided foam tape cut to a disc to secure the pod mount back to my dash (I found mine laying on the floor too when it broke apart). Turns out the disc of foam tape is holding better than the suction cup part did, so it's still there. The only issue with this is that it can't be reused when I pull it off... so for now I am just using the one that broke. I don't know if that foam tape will ever fail though! LOL

Have had the the complete Banks system for over a year now on my '17 F350 6.7 dually (Banks Derringer, IDash Data Monster & a Super Gauge & Peddle Monster). Some notes on what I monitor. (There are High and Low "Alert" settings on each item monitored on the Banks system, which have a nice display (Flash) when a parameter is out of the range I set, then the individual gauge blinks red.) - Monitor "both" Fuel Rail pressures. There is a FRP 1 and 2 in the Banks settings. I want to know if I start getting large differences between left and right fuel rails. - Monitor all 4 Ford Exhaust Temp sensors. (I tow heavy and want to know which of the 4 starts getting into a questionable temp when pulling a hill, or when I am doing a Regen while driving. The #2 ET gets up there on a regen (mine has hit 1240 degrees on a no load/parked manual regen). Add pulling a hill towing during a regen and ... well ... should be self explanatory. - Monitor (motor) Oil Temp on the Banks gauge and compare it to the (FORSCAN activated) Trans Temp above the Ford Trans Gauge. They should be rather close (+/- 10%) and share the same Ford Cooling system on a '17 SD. One can effect the other temp via the coolant depending on the situation. Had both temps spike while pulling a (minor) hill towing the 5th (235 ish). Oil and trans temps where climbing near identical and reached my "alert setting". Will the both get up there when pulling a hill towing.. yeah but the hill was not that steep. Got off at the next exit ramp and the deceleration opened the thermostat and the coolant dropped to 185. The factory "bar graph" showed in the normal range throughout the situation, but my FORSCAN activated temp reading above was up there . Without the FORSCAN activated temps above the Ford gauges and the (Banks) Engine Oil Temp, I would have never known there was an issue and kept on driving. Was only 3 hours from home and was a bit careful the rest of the way. Sure enough, pulled/replaced the thermostat when I got home and test the old one. Bad thermostat. - Monitor the "Ford Secondary Cooling System" (ECT2) via the Banks System. The Ford Secondary Cooling System supports the Intercooler and should be far cooler than the primary cooling system (near outside temp). It also provided an indication on what what going on with the above thermostat sticking closed situation. It was was relatively high. - (As noted by someone else below) Though I have DPF% activated on my Ford Dash (FORSCAN), I do Manual ReGens and I monitor DPF% on the Banks gauges as well. Allows me to plan Regens (either activate while driving knowing I need to be at highway speeds for ~30 mins to complete, or be at a parking spot for ~30 mins to do a complete manual regen). Have the Banks DPF% set to alert me when the DPF reaches 90% (Initial Yellow "flag" at the top of the gauge, then the item Blinks Red until it drops below 90%). Like the ability to watch the DPF % drop while doing a manual regen. Lets me know where the ReGen is at during the regen. The ford dash does not show a % during regen, even with FORCAN. I also like to drive my truck right after the regen completed until the EGTs get back down into the 500s if doing a parked Manual ReGen. Only 3 or 4 mins of driving brings them back down. ...... Note: I am currently experiencing an issue with the Bank DPF% monitor as it stops incrementing above 35% "only when towing my 5th". Trying to work with Banks Support at the moment to address. I am currently using the (FORSCAN activated) Ford Dash DPF % in the mean time, and it is operating correctly (reading) when and when not towing. - Monitor Air Intake Temp. Eh... Just want to know (Have an S&B Air Intake). It climbs when stopped idle or at light do to engine compartment temps,... comes down when air flows in from outside. Excuse the rather large post. Really like the banks system and provides a lot of useful information to help maintain my (our) SD. Recommend at a minimum a Banks "Gauge" for at lease EGTs. Need to ensure monitoring of the banks web site for S/W updates. The Banks Team does a relatively good jump of updating. Never had any issue with updating (micro SD).

I wonder if there are different PID's available for 17-19 vs 20+MY trucks... For starters, under vehicle selection, I have selected "Ford 6.7L" rather than just leaving it set to standard. I am also updated to the most recent version 1.23.0. But when searching for FRP 1 & 2, it's not an option on mine. Instead, I simply have the commanded fuel rail pressure and actual fuel rail pressure. Also, when looking for ECT2, that is not an option. There is simply an "Engine Coolant Temps" and a "Coolant Temp 1". I have enable "Engine Coolant Temp" and it shows up simply as "ECT" and the display matches the temp that is in the trucks cluster. That would be great to be able to monitor each coolant system separately though. I do know that on the 20+MY Super Duties, the option to actually perform a regen (once certain parameters are met of course) via the iDash is not an option. That feature is only available for the 17-19 models. I don't necessarily need that feature but I hope that Banks is working on adding that option in for the 20+MY trucks in their next update. Also, something I have noticed is that the DPF Soot Load ("DPF SL") is never close to accurate to what the truck displays, and since the truck is the ultimate decision maker as too when regens "should happen" that is the number I would prefer to see. A while back I had switched from the "DPF SL" to the DPF Regen Trigger ("DPF RG") and it was a lot closer to what the truck displayed, but still had some significant discrepancies. Most notable, the "DPF RG" would never count down unless an active regen was in process (and it never counted down in real time, the number would just change to a lower number once the regen was "OFF"... and it never reset to 0%... it typically only went to the very high teens or more often in the low to mid 20's). The problem with this is that when towing my camper the EGT's were always hot enough to constantly passive regen, and the truck would actually count down to 0% while the "DPF RG" on the iDash continued to count up to 100. At that point, the readout on the iDash was useless. To go a bit farther with this, the 20+MY trucks will allow the user to disable the Auto Regen. This gives those users the ability to only allow the truck to actively regen when the truck reads full. This translates to we can easily go thousands of miles due to passive regens without needing to perform an active regen. However, Ford has also programmed these trucks to actively regen at either 100% full, or at every 500 miles. So, even if I have been 2000 miles with the Auto Regen turned off (which I have) and the truck still shows that the DPF% is at 0%, if I turn the Auto Regen back on, the truck will automatically go into an active regen despite the filter being 0% full, but because the distance has exceeded the 500 mile range. Saying this, I think that the "DPF RG" on the iDash is simply converting the mileage to a percentage. Because of this, the DPF RG on the iDash isn't actually displaying the actual soot load. Anyway... that's a lot of rambling, but I enjoyed reading your comment to see what's different about how others have theirs set up. This is why I mentioned to ARod that a later video about which PID's he has decided on and what his thoughts are on the iDash after he has used it a while. I am still learning what many of these things translate to and what I should be looking for, so I would love to hear his (or others) thoughts on this. Also, you mentioned that you are monitoring the air intake temp... this prompted me to go out and set something up different on mine. My iDash only has the "IAT Bank 1 Sensor 1" PID, which I assume is the sensor on the air intake. I have selected it and I also selected the "CAC Temp Bank 1 Sensor 1" PID, which I assume represents the temp sensor on the CAC pipe. If this is correct, I am assuming I should see the "CAC" PID show a lower temp than the "IAT" sensor since the IAT should be the incoming air, and the CAC should show that same air after it's been compressed and then cooled... I dunno, but I'll check it out for a while...

@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod Hmmmm. On mine, I have to start the ReGen only on the “full reading” screen when parked. Have to hold the “ok” on my steering wheel to start. It only then displays the ReGen is in progress. If I do anything with the Ford Dash screen once the ReGen starts, the ReGen stops. Now when driving, and I get the “full” splash screen from the truck and can do a ReGen to completion when driving, turning on “Auto ReGen” starts the ReGen in about a minute … while driving. I can tell when it starts as all 4 Exhaust Temps on the Banks Gauge start climbing. I can then go to the DPF % screen and watch the DPF% screen increment lower as the ReGen progresses… as I am driving. Again not the same when activating a manual ReGen while parked. ReGen manual start is triggered from the Ford DPF% screen and only shows “in progress”.

Banks makes some top of the line gear that’s for certain. My question is do you think the idash is better than the EZ Lynk system that uses your phone or a tablet?? Benefit of the banks is you don’t need your phone or a tablet and you can add sensors to it. I’m not sure you can load custom tunes like the EZ Lynk can, but If that’s not what you’re looking for than I reckon the banks is the better choice. Can’t go wrong with either really I don’t think.

Dpf fills quickly, I travel 5 miles in morning then 5 miles in afternoon. Seems the Dpf fills up between 150 & 200 miles, can this help between regens?

As I believe ARod and Team have talked about, the 6.7s tend to load up faster in City/Idling time. Got to get into the peddle from time to time, (jump on it getting on the HiWay and stay on the HiWay a bit ... from time to time). I am in the same situation with a bit too much city driving. Tend to be in the 300 mile range between regens on my '17. Note: I have found that using the Blue Def Platinum tends to increase the miles between regens a bit. Could not find Platinum this last Def Fill and went with regular. I noticed the miles being shorter between regens. Though Platinum DEF is more $$$, think I am going to stick with using the Platinum DEF. There is a KZfaq from Peak where the talk about the differences between regular DEF and Platinum, and why the developed the Platinum.... has to do with the crystallization of regular DEF and they say it can clog the DPF beyond what a ReGen can remove.

? I have the banks inline tuner on my 2018 f250. And I need to get a recall done on it so does that mean I need to take it off because I need to take the truck to the dealer to get the recall done. The recall is #21E14.

I had a horrible experience trying to communicate via email. After a few weeks went by I picked up the phone. I had to enter my number so they could call me back but they did and things were handled quickly then. The phone is the way to go, but don't bother with emails.
