Always enjoy spending time in Bar Harbor for sure. Usually along the waterfront. The last time I was there we had a nice feed of fish and chips from a food truck. Have a great rest of the week from here in Nova Scotia.

Thank you. Looks like a warm rainy day for us today. I hope Nova Scotia doesn't get buried in snow again.

I sometimes thought I might like to live in Bar Harbor but now I can see that's it's overwhelmed with people for 6 months but abandoned for 6 months. Incredibly seasonal.

That pretty much sums it up Mount Desert Island is a very quiet place in the winter and the tourism is out of control in the summer.

Looks fabulous. My supermarket run is not as picturesque.

It wasn't as pretty today with fog.

Nice video, We had some fantastic weather here in Greater Portland. I smell an early spring a'coming how about you Todd?
@todddunn9454 ай бұрын
Seems like Spring is already here. We may get a little snow in March, but it never lasts more than a couple days then.

Todd, when do they put the parking meters back in? Also, i went to the seawall on Sunday and it's looking so much better. There are still a lot of rocks blocking views. I wonder if they will move those at some point? I also drove to Northeast Harbor for the first time. I saw Martha Stewart's home, sort of, Seal Harbor, and what a lovely little harbor that is. What are home prices there vs Southwest Harbor, BH, Tremont etc.

Paid Parking starts again on May 15. They will put the meters back starting a couple of days before that. The park still has a fair amount of rock to move around in the Seawall picnic area. and the state DOT has work to do on the road. I expect that the state will finish its work in conjunction with paving the repaired parts of the road. When the park removes the rest of the rock on the road in the picnic area I am hoping they will also spend some time knocking the piles of rock down to improve the views. Seal Harbor and Northeast Harbor are both in the town of Mount Desert. As a rule they have the highest home prices on the island by a significant margin. The last time I looked there were a number of multi million dollar homes for sale and once cottage for $16M. Last month Southwest Harbor was a bit less expensive than Mount desert followed by Tremont (median price $1M) and Bar Harbor was the cheapest. I think homes in Bar Harbor are cheaper now because of the restrictions the town just put on renting homes out short term. Such restrictions don't exist in the other parts of the island.

Hello Mr. Dunn. I am currently watching your video. My name is Joan Emery. Formally Joan Dolliver. I am a relative of Bill and Rita Dolliver of Bar Harbor. Bill and Rita Dolliver owned The Dolliver Dump where the fire of 1947 originated. You keep saying the fire of 1946. It was not 1946. It was the fire of 1947. That fire was a sore spot in our lives, especially for Bill. Would you please correct this? Thank you.

Sorry I spoke incorrectly. Thanks for the correction.

Since your camera can shoot 4k. I'd like to see one of your videos in that resolution. If uploading is a problem? Maybe a library or other business could be a WiFi option. I want to view your beautiful neighborhood in crystal clear 4k. Just a suggestion.
@todddunn9454 ай бұрын
I can do it. It does take a while to process and upload. We have OK internet at home +/-200 Mbps so the library won't be better. My main issue with higher resolution is that my maximum resolution screen is 1080p.

One of my computer screens is HD and the other is around 2k on a MacBook. The screen resolution (as you know) has nothing to do with rendering quality. I can't wait to see some 4k.
@todddunn9454 ай бұрын
@@JMMGarza I know that. The issue is I can't see what the final product looks like in 4K, so I just have to trust that it came out OK.

@@todddunn945yes, you have to trust that your HD view of 4k project will look fine. I have 2 55 inch 4k TV's in my house (I love watching movies, NFL & KZfaq videos). I can see on the boob too if everything looks good. Or adequate.

Why do you think BH is changing their view of short-term rentals?
@todddunn9454 ай бұрын
Because the town council passed new limits. The stated reason is to make more housing available for long term rentals (there are almost none now) and in the longer run to make housing more affordable. As it stands now, housing on MDI is too expensive for the people who work here to live here. That has created all sort of problems for finding people to work here including even doctors at the hospital. For example, I see four local doctors. All but my primary car doctor are older than I am and I am 72.

@@todddunn945 gotcha. Prices are way out of control! That’s absolutely an understatement .
