Ok, so here is my third ever reaction to ANY Barbra Streisand - and I'm reacting to her singing ''I Never Has Seen Snow' - as per a suggestion from you beauties!
Being new to the world of Barbra, I am literally unaware of the majority of her work - so this one, 'I Never Has Seen Snow' was so refreshingly up my street - vocals, control... rhythm, bluesy, jazzy vibes... this was all of that and a bag of chips haha, LOVED IT!! 🤌🏾❤️✨
Did I mention how much I love the variety and eclectic nature of my channel yet?? 👀😂✨

She is the whole package...gifted AND talented. Not many artist can top themselves over and over again like Streisand has. She has a brilliant musical legacy, but has succeeded in all mediums. I find her to be, no less than, astonishing.

That song was from a play Porgy and Bess on Broadway about a black girl in the old South of America. What a song rendition. Stunning control. Been listening to Barbra since I was 12 years old, she taught me how to sing. react to more of her. If you can please react to "My Man" from her first movie Funny Girl. Amazing!!!

Welcome to the Barbra Streisand rabbit hole that we fans of her's [some of us for 6 decades] have been down. Your reaction was a delight to watch. I chuckled when at the end you appeared lost for words on how to describe what you just saw and heard. She has that affect on everyone, and it's great to see the younger gen appreciate this rare and gifted vocal talent that hasn't been matched since she landed here in 1962. This song was a live performance on her TV special titled "Barbra Streisand...and Other Musical Instruments," which couldn't be more apropos, don'tcha think? Her voice is like a musical instrument. She can bring you in like a soft violin, hold you with the clarity and precision of a piccolo, or blow the top of your head off with the power and control of a French horn. And you're correct, she is self- taught, but it's deeper than that. Barbra sings from a place of truth and authenticity. She was once asked how she manages to hold a note for so long, her response was "Because I want to." She did try a singing coach once, but found the technique so unnatural, that she felt it detracted from her natural ability to sing a song by interpreting and emoting the lyric. Marilyn Bergman, the late great lyracist and wife of lyracist Alan Bergman, once said..."Barbra Streisand, the best singer that any lyric writer could ever have singing their song.” She's a marvel for sure, and I look forward to many more great reactions, like this one, from you. 👏👏👏

Watching you watching Barbra...that look on your face says it all! She's captured you in the same way she has captured all of us over the years. I don't know if you like to watch movies (musicals) but you have to check out her acting career also. A few on repeat for me are Funny Girl, On a Clear Day, Hello Dolly, What's up Doc just to name a few! Hope you will check them out I think you will enjoy them.

She can hold extremely long phrases and then top it off with a riff, all in one breath, like all the great ones. The lungs! Her expressions work brilliantly with the music and the message. She broke the beauty mold of the day, and looks lovely. She’s a natural on the screen. She can do everything except dance, LOL. For that, you have to go to Liza Minnelli.

I agree re Streisand Superman. I think she could have knocked down brick walls with her voice then. Not only powerful on the long notes, she was punching hard on the short ones, and had a great growl! She sang rock like she meant it ("Don't Believe What You Read") yet could sound rich and beautiful ("Love Comes From The Most Unexpected Places"). On the title track she soars like, well, Superman!

Without a doubt one of the greatest voices of all time, Barbra Streisand has everything one can expect from a great singer, try watching her 1986, if I´m not mistaken One Voice concert performed at her house to a selected few lucky people, simply delightful, outstanding, what I would give to have been a part of that evening. I´m surprised to see that you have uploaded this reaction 9 hours ago, as I am writing without your channel being flooded with likes and comments, what a crazy world we live in these days. Anyhow, I appreciate your reaction not to mention your refined taste in music. Cheers man.

I would have liked to have been in Barbra's back yard that evening as well! (Robin Williams opened for her and referred to it as "Camp Barbra".😄) One Voice was actually the first fundraiser for the newly-established Streisand Foundation. Indeed it was literally a "select" crowd as it was by invitation and tickets were $5000. It was just after Chernobyl and the concert receipts went to organizations focused on protecting the environment.

The reactions to Barbra's live performances like this gorgeous one are so superior to music from videos which are by and large dated at this point. Good examples are the "Memory" or "Somewhere" vids. "Somewhere" for instance so much more moving ifrom either the "One Voice" concert" from 1986 or "Barbra the Concert" from 1994. NOTHING beats experiencing Barbra live but a live recording is the next best thing!

The song is from a musical set in Haiti and it's sung by a prostitute --the lyricist, Truman Capote, who was from the southern US, used an approximation of African American dpech patterns to concey Haitian speech, hence the "never has," "road to take me whwre i wanted to be took," etc.

You actually heard her hold a note in the Donna Summer disco song. But today people are so used to computer manipulation that you didn't seem to attribute that perfectly held note to her. That is the downside to the tech enhancements in today's music. We lose appreciation for the most talented and professional artists.
