I actually saw ADHD Whiskey's review today and the notes were very similar to what I got but he gave it a much lower score. Agreed, I still haven't paid over $70 for a given bottle. I'd still rather have two really good bottles than one that is only slightly better

Russells 13 is a wonderful pour with the dark oak and sweetness but the Disco 11 is good as well, but in a very different way with bright fruits and powdered sugar sweetness. If your profile is the dark oak and traditional bourbon notes, I can see why you have the RR13 so far ahead 😆. I like both but I also like the RR13 better 😎. Have a wonderful weekend and cheers ~

Yeah, that's what stopped me. I tasted it @ the distiller and debated buying a bottle... I thought: Will I enjoy this $150 bottle more than my Rare Breed ($50)? Maybe, but it's not a definite... and for 3x, it should be. Then: Will I enjoy it more than WJ: Decadence($100) and JDSBBP Rye ($75)? I don't think so. Probably about equal to those for me, best case. So it was a pass. If it were $90, I'd have bought 2. $100-110, probably would have bought it... Above that was kind of where I got sensitive to the price, thinking they were asking a bit much for it. Still haven't found a bottle (that I can actually purchase... we're not talking about Pappy, WLW, Poppa Stagg tier stuff here) that justifies a >$100 price tag except maybe ECBP C923... and MMCA. But Obviously tastes differ, as do people's sensitivity to price. Last fall, people were paying $150-200 in some area's for EC Toasted Barrel and bragging that they got it. That's a $50 bottle, and I don't think it's worth that. I think I can sum up where Disco 11 lands for me with this. I had lunch @ the restaurant. Closed my tab at the bar, and I think it was $23 for the 1.5-2oz pour of Disco 11. I ordered another drink at the table, and considered another pour of Disco 11 (because it was quite good and there was nothing else on the menu that I felt I needed to taste that day)... but went with a $13 Manhattan instead. Was glad I tried it, but didn't love it enough to order another pour. In contrast; when I found a place pouring C923 (@19$/oz), I drank that all night.

Disco 11 is a lot more fruit forward than expected and doesn't give many of the dark sweetness and oak that other high aged bourbons have (i.e. Russell's 13), so if that's not your profile, I understand you if you didn't like this pour. Both are my profile (bright fruit bourbons and dark, oaky bourbons) so even though I liked the Disco 11, the RR13 was a bit better 😆. Have a great weekend and cheers~
