"I'm at an age now where it's the thing I have to do; if I don't do it now, I will carry on as I'm doing." I, I, I. "It's all about the business and Mel fulfilling his dream with the business.' Imagine a married woman having to say that because her husband has never actually decided that she is part of his life. You'd think her husband was a monster. But if you just live with someone, and they basically say, 'My way or the highway,' and you've spent years auditioning to be acceptable to that person with no commitment, then like this woman, you just have to forget yourself, have no hopes, dreams or shared vision of a life with that person, and just be an appendage to the other person's ego and desires. She made a bad deal by moving in with a man who has never committed to her. That's the living together mentality: your 'partner' is just an aspect of your lifestyle, not your other half. You are not 'two becoming one flesh' or two people forming a family, just two people using the other person for your pleasure, lifestyle, comfort, companionship, sex, not to be alone... while still thinking of yourself as essentially single, pursuing your own goals and the other person can go along or get lost. If you do not know by the 5th or 6th date - without having sex with the person - that 'this could be the one and my life would feel empty without this person - and BOTH people feel that way, that marriage and a permanent commitment is the only way this can go... then this is NOT the one for you and move on. You WILL know in a very short time if the person you are dating is so special, so amazing, such a soul-mate that you already miss them after one conversation or a few dates. If you don't know - living together will NOT reveal it, because you are both just auditioning for the other person's acceptance, and one person - almost always the woman - will have to stuff down her own personality, hopes, dreams, vision of life, etc., and live in the shadow of the other person's selfishness. Do the research on whether living together improves relationships. If you think living together is a good idea, you will be shocked at the solid research showing quite the opposite is true.

You're being a bit harsh, imo. Many long-term couples who don't legally marry still feel like a family. My son and his partner are not married, yet are raising 3 children. They feel, act, and are, a committed couple. And I think that successful long-term relationships are ones where the couples have matured together. It takes years (not 5th or 6th date) to establish a loving, respectful and committed partnership. You don't need to be married to enjoy that kind of relationship, either.

She can’t work as a flight attendant for ever and the guy seems to care about her, is considerate enough to include her in the house search even if they’re not legally married (Idk when that was said, judging only by your comment), he is financially stable and they seem to plan to live their lives together. I don’t see what is wrong with wanting to stay with him.

She is doing all the sacrifices. He is pursuing HIS dream. All I have to say is he needs to be considerate of the situation from her viewpoint. He may want to go to the wilds of Wales. But she needs to be near her work as well. Compromise is well & good as long as one isn't being FORCED to do all the giving while the other does all the taking. Been there, done that = resentment.

As long as you aren't on reserve, then yes you could live anywhere. Or if you don't want the long commute, stay in a hotel, or with family/friends, the night before your flight. But being on reserve, you need to be at most an hour away, yo ensure you're at briefing on time. I assume she works for BA, and it doesn't mention if she has schedule or not.

Older people buy them because they realise that one day they won't be able to walk or get upstairs. My mum bought one in 2000 for £87,000 and it was the best thing when she became ill with dementia. Now it's worth £525,000. I love bungalows and they have really big gardens...

I thought if he isn't wanting the house to be near the business, why didn't he just buy land elsewhere for business and set that up. It's not as though that kind of business would be booked up every day...

Here in the US, called a Ranch. Hubby and I bought and lived happily in one for over 20 years. I especially appreciated it when I accidentally broke an ankle and hubby and caretakers didn't have to go up/down, up/down to help me. Once I was allowed to be off my bed and vertical an hour a day, I zoomed around on my knee scooter! The irony is that we've built our forever home and it's two-stories! But the truth is that there's only a Bonus Room (over garage) on the second. Everything else is on the ground level and we wouldn't have it any other way.
@jillhobson6128

I don't think a ranch is a bungalow! A bungalow is usually very small, suitable for one or two people at most. my bungalow has 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, 1 sitting room and 1 kitchen. It's tiny, far too small to zoom around on a scooter! 🎉

@@gibbersking6575 I presume sf means square feet. We don't measure our houses in square feet (or metres). I wouldn't have a clue how many square feet my home is, nor would most Britons! The 'two thumbs up' house was decorated like an old people's home. It was ghastly. I don't understand why the beautiful, clean, modern first house was off the table (it's a bungalow; the land - in Wales! - is not flat), and that over-decorated, out of date ugly house was acceptable. Blech.

I don't understand the meaning that UK people don't want a bungalow because that means for old people. In the USA if you have a one level house you will know you can stay if you become unable to us stairs and not just because of age, accidents like braking a leg. Life changes and a one level house is for LIFE. She is crazy to live out far from everything. NO Friends will start to fade after the first visit because too far.

Perhaps someone in the UK can clarify this better but for what I can understand most British people (who live in a house) are used to living in older homes that are on multiple levels so they view bungalows as "old people homes"

The house hunters don't always find a house at the end. I know a lot of people don't like that but that's what makes this show more realistic compared to shows like House Hunters It's just not always possible to find a house to buy in three days and to successfully close on it by the time the camera crew come back.
