In this video build log series I am building a vintage RPM Barn Stormer 25S RC Plane Kit. If you like to fly, build, crash and repair RC planes (Radio Control Planes), I hope this video build series will be informative, interesting and maybe entertaining.
This video I go over and do a test run of the OS MAX 25 FP or OS ENGINES .25 FP glow engine. The OS Max .25 FP was produced in the 1980s and I purchased a "new" one on ebay. I will show how to break in, or run in, a new RC glow engine by showing how I broke in the OS Max 25 FP engine per the original instructions. I used Powermaster glow fuel (nitro fuel) for rc plane engines with 15% nitromethane and 18% oil. I used a wood Master Airscrew 9-5 propeller with a OS propeller hub. I also show my recent build of my rc engine test stand setup that is equipped with a Mayatech rc engine test stand. I ran the engine with a RICH mixture for two tanks and monitored RPMs using a Hangar 9 tachometer. After this the engine is ready to be mounted on the airplane as we get closer to finishing this build.
I have been building, flying, crashing, modifying, and repairing radio control planes for many years and enjoy sharing what I do with the radio control plane community. I fly with Futaba radio equipment, OS Max engines and Saito engines and typically run Morgan and Powermaster glow fuels. I fly ARF rc planes, but I also like to build rc plane kits.
Lets keep RC plane kit building alive! RC plane kits I have built or will be building include vintage House of Balsa RC (DHC Chipmunk), Royal Marutaka RC kits (Bird Dog, B-25 Mitchel, P-51 Mustang, F4-U Corsair), Sterling RC Kit (Stearman PT-17). I also build modern ARF RC kits (Great Planes, Hangar 9). My next rc plane build will be the Balsa USA Smoothie 40.
