I gave up as well, now I’m gonna start back up again and practice with KZfaq. I’m not gonna take lessons because for some stupid reason it takes me a really long time to practice and get the notes in the cords right so I’m just gonna take my own time on it.

why would she teach you barracuda at your first lesson? lmao. some teachers wont even teach you any songs for a while because they expect you to learn the basic techniques first

@@stellarmori you’ have never been a teacher I bet. As a former teacher I know it is imperative to gain the students attention and build a relationship. This guitar teacher could have done this simply by showing me the opening riff to Barracuda. There is no downside in doing this.

@@crisprtalk6963 maybe so. but every teacher has different methods and they use those methods because, in their eyes at least, it has been successful. perhaps that teacher had students in the past who giving a song to right away made things harder for them later. lots of teachers believe you must be good at the basics before applying them or else it'll be extremely difficult for you to break those bad happens later. many teachers also think the substance of their teaching is more important than how fun they make it, and they prefer students who are dedicated, and therefore aren't as hard to keep focused. ive never been a teacher, but i have been the student of many teachers of different subjects, especially instruments and almost all musical instructors are hesitant to teach students songs right away because they don't want them to develop bad habits that will make playing more advanced music difficult. i currently do guitar, and my guitar teacher did have me learn pieces right away. but he also doesn't want to ruin any songs for me. in fact, he just recently talked about playing barracuda as an exercise. he said, since its difficult, he wouldn't have given this one to me if i really liked it since it could have ruined the song for me. you'll know that its not at all uncommon for a musician to attempt to learn a piece that they really enjoy but is very difficult for their skill level, and ultimately feel annoyed whenever they hear that song and can never listen the same way again. ive personally experienced that so many times. some teachers are just trying to protect their students from that. if you came into the studio all excited to play a certain song, your teacher may have just been trying to protect you.
