My journey in the health & fitness industry started because I did not think I was going to make it to my 25th birthday. This is my story.

Look into fundoplication. It works. Make sure you have a fellowship trained doctor that specializes in bariatric surgery. My BE has regressed from mild dysplasia to no dysplasia 1 year after surgery.

Well done Josh I’m in the same boat and I’ve changed my lifestyle significantly but I’m still left with a constant aching throat which I’m struggling to get any answers from doctors on and I’ve come to the conclusion it’s lpr but it’s really difficult getting any help on, anyway good luck for the future and I’ll be following you closely.

@@chrisstevenson342to be honest it’s a constant battle with it but I went to see a specialist who thinks I’ve got sibo which is probably aggravating my throat but I’m still waiting to be tested but in the meantime I did some research regarding sibo and found out that changing my diet would help so I’ve tried cutting carbs and sugars etc and I’m finding that this is helping to relieve my condition, I hope this helps you because it can be a really unpleasant time that nobody seems to understand.

Hey I'm 20, i had a gastroscopy and i was diagnosed GERD and chronic gastrits. I have been suffering from heartburn, chest pain, etc for 7 months. I have no hiatal hernia i took meds for several months but nothing, i also follow a proper diet. Everything started while i was training at the gym and i started feeling a bad chest pain and nausea. I don't hit the gym since may 2022. Are you able to lift heavy weights in the gym ? If yes, do you have any tip?
@joshscutnik Жыл бұрын
I am able to lift heavy in the gym, but I understand what you're talking about. With the chest pain and general tightness through the chest and abdomen, training hard can be tough. There's no secret to being able to work around that to lift heavy, it's going to be about healing so that you are able to feel good when lifting. A couple quick things that helped me with symptoms were bone broth (when things were bad, I was drinking a cup in the morning, afternoon, and at night), and making sure my last meal was 2-3 hours before bed (3 hours is more ideal).

I had been trying to figure out what was causing my heart palpitations and rate going so high for almost two years now.. I was just diagnosed with Barrett’s. My cells have changed to stomach cells with no dysplasia. I want to self heal also. Do you recommend the alkaline diet? Thank you for sharing. I’m so afraid:(
@joshscutnik Жыл бұрын
I'm sorry you're going through this, but glad you are working hard to get on the path to healing. I did not follow an alkaline diet. I just really took control of my diet and habits. Some things that helped me right away as non-negotiables were drinking bone broth before breakfast, making sure I got at least 7 hours of sleep every night, not eating anything within 3 hours of bedtime, and utilizing a wedge pillow to keep acid from coming back up. Those really helped get my symptoms under control! And in general, limiting processed foods (focus on consuming primarily whole foods), and optimizing fiber and water consumption are great for digestion and overall health.
@duke6137 күн бұрын
@@joshscutnik I tried a wedge pillow at night but I find it so uncomfortable. It was expensive and made for acid reflux. I'm back to sleeping flat. No idea what bone broth is or it's purpose for gut health.

Hello, I hope you do reply as I been trying to learn more about BE. I am 29 years old and in shape doing CrossFit daily. I recently did an upper Endoscopy for GERD and found out its complicated by BE which is benign but precancerous mucosa directly related to chronic acid reflux. I do eat healthy, but I do drink a lot and do nicotine pouches. I am now aware of my condition and will limit my drinking and try to stop the acid reflux. My question is I am scared as I am young, and do you think long term It will get worse to develop to cancer or any health issues? I really appreciate your videos and hope you will reply. Any recommendations I will take fully as I would like to live a long health life. I did start taking PPi recommend from the Dr, but only read bad things about it.
@joshscutnik9 ай бұрын
Hey! The more data that has come out, the less likely it seems to develop cancer. Especially if you manage it well with diet and lifestyle. PPI's aren't ideal long-term, but they are a decent stopgap while you get everything else aligned. Definitely want to cut out the alcohol and smoking asap. It can be a scary diagnosis, but you can do a lot to prevent disease progression!

@@joshscutnik I have BE. Two of my GI dr's told me I could have a drink once in a while. I was never a heavy drinker, just socially. Maybe once or twice a month during summer but could go easily 2 or 3 months without a drink. My dad passed from esophageal cancer and it was horrible. I haven't had a drink in almost 2 years. i do miss it at times when socializing or on vacation. On my last DR visit she said I could have a drink everything in moderation. I still haven't had a drink.

@joshscutnik4 ай бұрын
I keep it simple. I don't drink alcohol, I eat primarily whole food, nutrient dense foods (plenty of fiber), very minimal processed food, though I occasionally enjoy in moderation. I had to avoid caffeine completely until my symptoms were under control (this took a few years before I could have coffee again). I also don't eat 2-3 hours before bed to give myself time to digest.
