I live a few blocks away. John’s is quintessential Chicago pizza. Only tourists eat deep dish. Definitely try Boiler Room if you’re still in the area

ngl its starting to feel like this. I've been to a couple of his high 7s and low 8 spots and they're literally no different than a charcoaled papa johns slice. Been to one 9s spot and that was phenomenal but other than that I feel bad for pizza owners that get rated low only based on how crispy their crust is

When I saw it was a 4-minute review, I figured he must have liked it but it took him 3 minutes to open the bag! And he's a self-professed fan of "bar style", but I guess it has to be on the east coast. Chicago "tavern style" doesn't count! Not saying that pie looked great, but FFS, can we have a little bit of consistency along the way here?

For what that pie was trying to "accomplish", to me it looked like it deserved at least a solid, low 7.

I think there is a difference, because east-coast bar style has a carmel crust (cooked in cast iron, I think). But that pizza looked like the perfect Chicago bar style.

What he doesn't realize is if one tried to "embrace deep dish" on the regular, you would be unable to leave the home. Deep Dish is for taking out-of-towners to and every once in a while when the mood strikes. It's too much (in my opinion) to eat as your go-to.

If you haven't figured it out, Dave doesn't know anything about pizza. This channel is mostly for entertainment, not legit pizza reviews. For example, the guy was putting cheese in the grater, not dough. Dave has expressed confusion about oregano!

But no matter how much the comment section insists; we cant score the taste of these pizzas from a video. Have to eat it. So i take Dave's word that it isn't super flavorable... Id still try it though; because I know some that looked just like that and they are awesome.

@@tiredastired , no, if it’s a good pizza I’ll dip the crust in some marinara and eat it. But the best part of the pizza is without question the part with the toppings. If you’re getting pizza that has a better crust than toppings, I’d recommend staying away from that place.

Most people grab those outside triangles first. The crust is better on the edges. But the corners won't fill you so eventually the inner pieces get eaten.

You should try Quad Cities style....Frank's Club Napoli in Silvis, IL and or Harris Pizza in Rock Island. In Chicago there is Roots pizza in the same style.

I love center cut! I’m starting to believe Dave is really not a good judge of pizza! It’s all about burned up crust for him!

Of course he doesn't. He likes what he likes. It's his opinion. He has a preconceived and made up names for different styles of pizza like BAR PIZZA. He gives out a standard 6.8 for Neapolitans. People don't watch for the score and businesses that are in the know - just want the attention. Not to say any of this is bad. It just is.

Anyone can eat pizza say they like it or not give it a score . It's all in the personal taste he's no expert if there such a thing your right

I love center cut tavern pizza to. Especially when its labeled "kitchen sink"loaded with the good stuff. Yeah can dave really be a pizza expert when he puts in the same order for pizza as a 5 year old? Never seen another grown man who only eats cheese pizza.
