I am going back to taekwondo and tried to find a video where the bowing ritual at the beginning/end of class was (charyot and kyung nae) and surprisingly there werent that many videos available. This is the only one I could find with proper audio. Thank you!

Subtitles with the romanized (English) spelling of how the Korean terms are exactly spoken/spelled out exactly how they sound, would help for near complete understanding! The Korean language is sometimes hard to understand and terms/words can be hard to pronounce PERFECTLY (which I don’t think you absolutely need perfect pronunciation with the few terms used in taekwondo - but standards and what’s expected from students may differ from school to school n such) because of the many different vowel sounds the Korean language uses, it’s easy to mispronounce a word from only reading the romanized spelling of it, but to hear the word spoken while seeing the romanized spelling of it would definitely offer a better chance at learning and understanding near perfect pronunciation! Keep up the good work!

I'm going for my red 2 belt test soon, this really helped me, i am also ordering a book online for terminology to read at school and such. Since my memory isn't that good, i will need to practice multiple times. Thank you by the way.

As a correction, Kyung-Nye is not "bow" is "salute", is not Taih kwondo, is Tae (teh) kwondo, Dollyo-Chagi is Turning Kick, the one you did is called Yeop Dollyo Chagi; Axe Kick is Dokki Chagi, the reason you hear that kick called Naryeo Chagi is because Naryeo means pressing, so is kinda like pressing down on the kick but the correct name for Axe kick is Dokki Chagi; Not Dwi Yeop Huryeo Chagi, just Dwi Huryeo Chagi.

@@blazetaekwondo no problem. When we opened our school we wanted to be different and we decided to teach our students the Korean terminology. So we endure into a huge research to get the correct names and lucky for us we have Korean students in our class so the parents keep us on edge.

Great video, thank you! The Hook Kick my school calls Golcho chagi, and spinning hook kick is Bandae Golcho chagi. If I may respectfully suggest, you may wish to add two other kicks to your list: Crescent Kick (Bandal Chagi) and Twisting kick (Bituro Chagi)

MrIlagos I’ve been hearing the words occasionally, but most American students default to the English names for the stances. Most commands stay the same, but stances tend to have English equivalents. Such as Front Snap kick for Ap Chagi and so forth.

What about bituro chagi, twio chagi, an chagi, bakkat chagi, milio chagi and bokeo chagi
@blazetaekwondo2 жыл бұрын
I consider bituro chagi to be an advance kick. The ones I listed were basics to then build to bituro chagi and to the more advanced kicks such as the jumping kicks. In my opinion.
