Thanks for this video buddy. I’m just starting out, your video is simple and to the point. Although you may not think it shows much, just seeing the action is immensely helpful. Especially when you slowed it right down! Once again, thanks!

Ha no worries mate. Still trying to perfect my welding on certain welds like upright etc. Definitely getting there. There's a few groups on Facebook that have been really helpful, lots of tips and experience etc. If you want me to add you email me at brh.roofingservices@gmail.com Cheers Ben

Really helpful, thank you - info on pressure settings, speed and what the blueing signals has just progressed me further in 5 mins than 5 hrs of practice with the wrong flame!

What size nozzle to get the flame right; do you use?

Ben hockey very helpful vid I'm just wondering is it easier to weld with a proper torch like you have apposed to the cheap ebay torch and bottles kit? I have the cheap option and I think it is so hard to weld lead with it without burning through. Cheers Adam
@benhockey3288
@benhockey3288 5 жыл бұрын
Hi mate, yes definitely a lot more stable to use and easier to weld with. I know a handful that can use them but most find them so infuriating to even light , let alone set the flame and weld with them. I had some success but once I got a proper set up it was so much better. Highly recommend a proper set. Cheers

Is it possible to practice a weld with the oxy turbo beginners gun? Can’t seem to get the flame to ball on that set up. I see you had an oxyturbo in the background. Thanks
@benhockey3288
@benhockey3288 3 жыл бұрын
Hi, yeah the oxygen turbos can be temperamental, I had limited success myself but I know some guys that on ok with them. Theyre usually better inside/sheltered from the wind . I know some say its easier to light thr flame with both gases on and adjust from there. Hope this helps and check out master roofers page if you're on Facebook. Some good advice there.

Thanks for the video. How many hours on average does it take it take to pick up the basics of lead welding?. I would like to have a go but if its a really hard skill to learn it might not be cost effective

I became a pretty good lead welder after 2-3 years of trying it everyday. I was in a warehouse that made cavity insert trays so that's an easy thing to make and to learn how to weld.

I've started on one of those portable little kits about 120 quid. First try today and I'm destroying the lead 😂 are those portable kids a load of shit or can you actually learn with them?

@@louikn__7179 yeah it makes sense mate you get what you pay for in life as they say. What I have noticed with this portable kit is that even using a size 3 nozzle you cannot get that little blue ball in the flame. It's always a pointy shape even though its tiny

I think its because the mini kits with disposable canisters use propane and the tips are slightly different to acetylene ones
