I played a game and became a friends with someone living in Norwegi and i first spoke to him through google translate, i became in love with the language actually, and the accent. This was a really good first class.

@@noorlita I have not been very consistent with my practice. .. because my older grandchildren all speak English... My youngest granddaughter prefers Norwegian...however, she understands English. When I was there a year ago...the shop keepers preferred I speak English...So I have not been doing or practicing Norwegian in the same fury that I was before.

thank you, I watched a TV Series Heavy Water in German and Norwegian and i noticed Norwegian was easy to read and say the words so now i took it on my self to try to learn i, I am 60 yrs old by the way

Noweigan is singy. I think pronunciation is important. Bergen R is like French. The Sitron..lemon sounds french!

The au/eu combinations sound like the way Canadians pronounce ou in words like house. The ky sound that you said we don't have in English sounds just like ch in English.

I cannot distinguish between the sounds of i and y, and also o and å. Are they in fact the same or different? No one seems to be mentioning this and I am confused.

Close your lips a bit to make the y sound. The o in norwegian is an u but sometimes a regular o. And the å is just an o.

notice how when you say "oo" in "food", your lips are rounded. then say "ee" like "feed". your lips are unrounded, and your tongue is more forward. to make the [y] sound, put your tongue like 'ee' and lips like 'oo' å is like the 'o' in 'bored' o is like the 'oo' in 'food'

When you say the letter "i" and and the letter "y", we hear no difference... For example, when you're spelling a word/name to someone..., how do you make the difference between these two letters? ... quite confusing

Jeg har ett spørsmål for deg: Jeg vet at Ibsen skrev på dansk, selv om flertallet av sine skuespiller finne sted i Norge. Derfor vil jeg gjerne vite hvis skuespillere snakker på skueplassen på dansk med en norsk betoning når de spiller i et stykke av Ibsen. Takk skal du ha!

Got a question about kj sound. I know it's very important to differentiate it from skj of course so I want to get it right. Is it a dialectal thing to pronounce is more like hissing h (hissing through tongue not touching front palatal region nor teeth) or like softer English ch a bit towards sh (touching or almost touching that part with back of the tongue)? Think of it like 'sch' or a shorter version of a Russian 'щ'... Start with the 'shh' sound and insert a 'ch' into it at the same time.

@@SkyCloudSilence Thanks, got it by now. And it is dialectal, on west coast they simply say an Eng. ch. But I thought it's a totally different sound than Russian shch, which should be a very hard sound although Russian is a very soft language (regardless of stereotypes). I don't speak Russian but I guess if you pronounce is extremely soft in that manner, so nowhere near English sh and ch, just letting the air flow through, it might be the same as in eastern dialects.

:-) Sorry about that. Making the videos were more time consuming and I was never happy with sound quality. All 9 videos which will appear soon. However, they are all in basic level.

Is the speaker a "Native Norwegian Speaker"? I doubt it! Norwegians have a different accent while speaking English (and Norwegian too): this man sounds like sb from Africa who's emigrated to Norway.

I'm not sure but I couldnt help but to notice that how he prnounce the letter "r" whicch reminds me of how the french people prnounce the letter r. By any chance, are u french? Just curious lmao
