Breaking down the 3 biggest basketball training myths you've been lead to believe. The major basketball training myths discussed in this video are..
Starting with the basics and working your way up. Starting with only the fundamentals, mastering those and then moving onto more complicated skills/moves/etc. Learning is no linear and this style of teaching drastically holds players back
The second myth is that to get better at something we just need to repeat that thing over and over again. This is the block vs variable debate (shouldn't be a debate). The best way to get better at something is not to repeat the same exact thing over and over again but to actually mix it up and add variability. If you want to see results and transfer variable practice has shown to be much more beneficial. That isn't to say block practice is useless but it is drastically overused.
The third myth is that we need to master moves or skill before adding them into live situations or small sided games. First off training basketball moves is bullshit to me especially out of context. I explain my reasoning to all of these in this in depth video and explain exactly why I train the way I do.
