I caught my largest crappie on a 3/8 ounce white bass spinnerbait. I let it fall then reel up off bottom. Was in 12 ft of water and a 3lb. 16 inch crappie hit it.

You forgot about night fishing with a black spinnerbait that has a big single Colorado blade during the hot summer months.

I have basically replaced spinnerbaits with chatterbaits, micro Alabama rigs, and underspin swimbaits and I feel like I haven't missed out on catching fish or even trophy bass bites.

The 3/8 war eagle in that color is my go to, except i use a z man paddlerz in Houdini as a trailer in most scenarios. I like the slightly less aggressive kick the smaller paddle tail makes, especially in cold front conditions. Im also able to keep the bait a little deeper without slowing waaaay down. Now im thinking a swimming senko would work great too. Great video!

We burn spinnerbaits up in New Hampshire, Lake Winnipesaukee. Buldge the water, chartreuse colorado small and willow trailor and watch the fish come at it like torpedoes. 20' of water, doesnt matter, rip it! Cloudy, overcast, with a little wind, all summer long.

This video makes me want to get out and fish spinner baits. I feel they are heavily used and tend to try other baits, forgetting they are heavily used because they are very effective at catching quality bass and numbers of bass. Thanks for another great video.

Thank you so much. I think this will help me build confidence with a spinnerbait which I hardly use. Hell, I didn't even catch a fish on it last year until AUGUST because I was so busy reverting to my #1: an underspin swimbait. I now know all the specialized uses for this lure. I'm still going to love dragging an underspin across every kind of cover and bottom, but I am anxious to try what you shared.

When i was a kid in the late 70s, i started fishing IN- LINE spinners, and later on with tandems. And even with the in-lin , some of the biggest bass ive ever caught , was on spinners !

Man made me think about ole days here in pa we fish the northern part of the Susquehanna and growing up fishing with my grandfather the only thing we used were bucktails that he used to tie and grubs on a jig head it wasn’t till 2017 when I finally bought my first baitcaster it opened my world to lures I thought were for musky or bigger fish witch now I know are bass lures but at the time fishing bucktails that are small I would of never thought I could catch fish on these lures so crazy

Spinnerbaits are one of my favorites. I've caught more bass on spinners and roostertails than anything else. Still I learn a lot from this video and am looking forward to putting to use. I also love to use jig spinners, they're hard to beat for catching red-eye and even work with smallmouth too.

My favorite Spinnerbait going back years ago was the Blue Fox Chartuse with a Trailer Hook. Unfortunately it has been Discontinued for years. A slow dissenting retrieve seemed to work the best. With a 5 1/2 ft Pistal Grip Spinnerbait Rod for Accuracy. This is in the California Delta. A 1000 miles of waterway and you can get lost. 👀

From one tyler to another you must come back up to michigan and meet me at lake orion for some bass fishing its a lake with a lot of points a pockets i grew up on it. Iv fished higgins before and it is very clear like 20-30ft visibility while torch lake is not too far away with really nice turquiose water.

I like the way you present almost everything about the bass hobby. On a side topic you may want to address. What could be the optimum combos of braid to mono or flouro. Given on the specific diameters of when connect thru a given type of knot. Maybe 4 or more knots for stats. Results found on strength. line breakage, either type. etc. Just a thought to ponder over.

if you trim the arm 1/4"-1/2" it will put the blades closer to skirt and get the hook more exposed and this is ok in grass which I tend to burn thru and not use a trailer hook = improves the hook up ratio greatly = to keep the bait up if slower retrieves are needed but keeping the bait near surface add a trailer similar to Chatterbaits ... just adds a small sinking resistance but not enough to slow it down too much

Each angler, whether professional or amateur, will find their own way to use it. I only use painted blades regardless of the season, even in clear water.

When I’m not throwing a chatterbait lol my go to is the war eagle in the mouse color and if I wanna fish one with a trailer I go to the 6th divine spinnerbait and depending my water color day determine the color of my spinnerbait

I pond crank spinners so fast they run on their side on top the water and believe it or not I've caught allot of bass that way on black with silver spoon lol

** if you find time, I’d like info about super long skinny creeks that lead into a lake or river .. if they’re worth trolling up and fishing them at the bends or shallow ponds hidden off of them On lake Jordan in Alabama up near the dam there’s a creek that goes forever.. just not sure if doing that is a waste of time unless finding a gem pond off of one.

Do you wear that back brace for boat back? I have the same brace, but didn't think it helped. I get boat back really bad...aches top right after fishing about 40 mins unless i sit in the boat seat and lean forward or lean on a rail if I'm dock fishing and supporting my arms and just fishing w/my wrists until I get a hit.

Hey buddy been a subscriber for a while now and love the channel. I realize you must live close to me in central Ohio. I live in grove city, just south of Columbus. Im strictly a bank angler only. I mainly fish small lakes/quarry’s and I’m struggling pretty hard right now. Been throwing a jerkbaits, chatterbaits, small swim baits on a ball head jig and a lipless are pretty much what I have been throwing lately. I’m limited on we’re I’m fishing because there’s only a few decent small lakes I can bank fish, do you have any suggestions on what I should change up and not asking for specific spots but anywhere in our area you could recommend to me just fishing from the bank.. oh yea the 2 or 3 places I have been fishing the last couple weeks are pretty clear bodies of water, maybe a little stain but not much. Sorry for the long post I’m just struggling and could use some tips

I haven’t been on a killer spinner bait bite in a long time. Honestly though it’s hard to do so when your not throwing it very often. I will say I have been late to the game with a underspin and lately have done very well with it. It is kinda like a spinner bait but that doesn’t count. Weirdly about a month ago I went through all my spinner baits and freshen them up by sharpening hooks and new skirts but yet to throw.

For a real treat, throw a big spinnerbait around bridges at night in South Florida and see what 20 and 30 pound snook do to them.

That right handle reel is affecting you being productive while pitching that spinnerbait. Switch to a left handle and you'll be more productive and catch more fish. You're right hand dominant, so you need a left handed reel. Takes a few hours to do the switch.

It’s so strange how the fishing techniques change once you get east of the Colorado River. In San Diego the fishing is a bit more like Japan fishing. But the spinnerbait is a player here for sure.

if you notice a lot of fish hitting it with mouth closed. its simple.. they are trying to stun it to eat it.. so as you burn it. stop burning it for a pause. and then those fish will hit with mouth open. dont forget pauses with any bait.

I prefer to fish a spinnerbait on a spinning reel and it makes it so much easier to skip, and I never need to worry about backlash so I can just keep hammering them and pulling them in and hammering them and put them in and flick in and skipping and tossing and....

Is your trolling motor truly moving that fast, or is the footage sped up. It looks like you’re moving quickly. That’s something that NO ONE talks about that can dramatically effect the retrieve of any bait that’s thrown.

there is no substitute for live bait....... what he is talking about with ripping and popping/flare is mimicking bait fish that are feeding...you want them to look frenzied in what they are eating, soooo busy feeding they don't know the big bad predator is in their vicinity. when you are ripping and the blades break the surface, what you are mimicking is bait fish that are in fear of this lives trying to be difficult to be eaten.... so much so they are willing to go out of the surface and expose themselves to aerial predators many of which are hawks and eagles, this is one of the signs those birds look for when there aren't much carp or suckers or panfish and bullheads. birds of prey want to dive down, not get wet if they can avoid it, but will for the right meal in the right conditions such as shallows very close by they can limp flap drag dinner to a dinner table platform. so where you find predator birds hunting is a great indicator, where you find bait fish fleeing for their lives is a good indicator, and where you see bait fish feeding aka flashing in those flare swarms tipping side ways getting grubs from the bed floor and mayfly larvae and dragon fly larvae as well as mosquito larvae..... food is by season mimic what is plentiful in the season you are in because that's what the fish are targeting in their searches. you wouldn't work hard for a meal if you didn't have to right? alot of techniques you need to master is what the bait does. walleye kill their food with a kill bite before they eat it an they watch it making sure it is dying before they eat it alot of the time, not all the time, they will pursue, they are a fish...but that's a competition vs. hunger pang effect. pike & muskies will look for things like that...wounded larger fish, like perch or sunfish and you can entice them with death throes in early spring. they also eat baby ducks and loons...color and size matters the more real it looks and moves and acts....they great chance you will gain their feeding interest....the pop flare once again " not paying attention to predators and stayed away from the flock " easy target.
